Agriculture is still an important part of Dartmoor as it was in pre-historic and medieval times. Today over 90% of the moor is used for farming. Much of this area is both open and enclosed moorland where livestock is grazed. Herds of domestic sheep and cattle can be seen roaming the moor. All livestock is owned by local farmers and let out to graze. The open moors are divided into separate areas called commons where local farmers, as commoners, have rights to graze their animals. The rights are tied to the surrounding farmland. The Whiteface Dartmoor and Greyface Dartmoor are breeds of sheep that are descended from breeds which have roamed on the moor since at least the 17th century. Both are now considered rare breeds. The Scottish Blackface is the more likely sheep you will see and vastly outnumbers the two Dartmoor breeds. The most common cattle are the Galloway and Aberdeen Angus. ©National Trust 2015 Photos ©NT Images/Adrian

Living on an island with a proud maritime history, many of us have a deep emotional attachment to the coast and the sea. We want them to stay as beautiful as they were when we were children. Here in North Cornwall many miles of coast is now protected by the National Trust, in no small part thanks to the Neptune campaign – set up 50 years ago to raise funds for the coast. The Coastal Festival is a year of celebration to mark this 50 year milestone in the conservation of the coast, and a big thank you to everyone who has worked so hard and given so generously.
Look out for the many varied and exciting events taking place over the year, including a Big Beach Picnic near Polzeath, The Coastal Challenge and a bioblitz at Sandymouth. Carnewas at Bedruthan

Nancy Astor Exhibition The creative team were tasked with taking this brief from the fantastic team at Cliveden, the beautiful property overlooking the River Thames at Taplow. It has been 100 years since Nancy Astor took her seat in the Houses of Parliament. Brightsea Creative has designed and produced a super display for the public to enjoy and learn more about this remarkable lady. We created a series of visuals to go on display in Blenheim Pavilion featuring some of Nancy's many hundreds of letters received in 1919 at the time of her election.
