Be a Part of Rossland’s History 100 Years From Now! The Rossland Time Capsule project aims to capture all that defines life in Rossland today. A snap shot in time of our many recent successes and challenges, and continued celebration of the strength of our arts and culture, recreation, social diversity, and economy. The capsule will be about the size of an extra-large suitcase, both air and water tight. It will be on display throughout the summer with the contents. A sealing ceremony and celebration will take place during Golden City Days September 2013 when capsule will be buried in the Library grounds, marked with a bolder and plaque. The project invites everyone to create something unique and expressive, truly representative of your life in Rossland. Small artifacts in any form are welcome and could be the most cherished and meaningful contributions 100 years into our future. Items are to be submitted for consideration by 31 July 2013. Space and the science of preservation have limitations, however as many submissions as possible will be included. Your creative submissions and or donations can be dropped off at the Rossland Library along with a submission form. Good luck! Ryan McGill, Project Coordinator rosslandtimecapsule@gmail.com

Let’s chat Library staff and volunteers will be out in the community this summer to chat with as many Rosslanders as possible to get a clear picture of what the role of the library should be in Rossland. We want to know what we’re doing well and what we need to improve on and strengthen to serve you, our community. Armed with an iPad, a smile and a library nametag we hope you’ll spot us throughout the coming months and take time out of your day to share your views with us. We’re looking at the big picture, and hope that you’ll be as open and honest as you can. We are your library and want it to reflect you and your needs. Going away for the summer but want to share your thoughts with us? Drop into the library today to have a chat.
