WXM
Still Ultion. Just stronger.
Why WXM?
The WXM shape was developed because it is symmetrical and as such creates a non-handed, 33% thicker key profile. WXM also represents the major changes made to Ultion - With Xtra Molybdenum.
To protect our customers’ key revenues further, the design is already trademark protected.
Lockdown Mode gets a significant upgrade.
There are now TWO locking pins, which fire into the body of the locking pin rather than across it. All of the pins used in this area of the lock are made from hardened stainless steel 630. These improvements mean that homeowners with Ultion WXM will be secured with Double Lockdown Mode.
Stronger with extra molybdenum
The exclusive unique plug has been designed for Ultion WXM to address the ever increasing pressure on euro-cylinders with new door styles and multi-point locking systems. Brisant focussed on the key and where the plug engages with the clutch.
The now two-part plug has increased engagement with a new curved cap and the entire section is moulded from molybdenum and not brass. This strengthening is then coupled with the thicker WXM key shape and composition.
Improved drill protection has also been delivered with the new two-part plug in Ultion WXM. It still houses 20 anti-drill points, but the clutch is shielded with the molybdenum section of the plug.
We believe Ultion is the most durable security euro-cylinder on the market.
Ultion WXM is harder to pick.
The thicker key has enabled the Brisant team to remove the 5 passive top pins and introduce two additional pin lengths to the lower active pins, whilst concurrently increasing the apex differentials between the heights, making the lock harder to pick.
The new pin heights produce in excess of 260,000 working differs, more than doubling the maximum requirement for TS007 3* grade 6.
For added picking protection Brisant will soon make two of the pins ‘tapped’ to create a false set during picking.
Shipping end of June 2019.
Nobody needs to do anything different. When stock of the existing sizes of current Ultion expires, the new Ultion WXM will be shipped to replace it. Whilst the increase in specification and material content of the WXM key has increased the price of cut keys and key blanks by £1.37 each, the price anyone pays for Ultion cylinders (which continues to be sold with three keys) has not changed.
Ultion WXM key codes will start with a W, and keys can still be cut using the same machinery as current.
More information and video on WXM can be seen at www.ultion-lock.co.uk/wxm or www.brisant-secure.com/wxm
A key with a built in torch
Keylight is being introduced alongside the keycap and keyring product line up. New keycaps and keyring components have been made to accommodate the new thicker, stronger WXM key. The new housing has been designed to accommodate a battery, controller, LED light and thumb button.
They will be available in the full 10 colour combinations (including glow in the dark!). Even though the outline shape of the Ultion key remains unchanged, the WXM key is 1mm thicker, meaning an existing Ultion key in a WXM keycap/keylight/keyring body will be a very loose fit.
They will be available for sale in June at a RRP of £19.95.
Still Sweet, just square and stainless.
The Sweet furniture range will shortly be available wrapped in stainless steel. Whilst the development cost of creating a wrapped stainless product is greater than that of single tool casting, the consistent smooth appearance achieved by using this process is exactly what the market expects of Sweet.
There’s an additional square edged Sweet letterbox. Certain door designs with square glazing lend themselves more to having a square edged letterbox, rather than the existing rounded Sweet letterbox. The new square end letterbox option is perfect for these applications. The letterbox still boasts its frameless design as the flap wraps back toward the door, still boasts unmatched weathering performance and still looks amazing. It is available in the full colour range of white, black, gold, chrome and wrapped stainless.
Brisant-Secure and Salto Systems Danalock technology have come together to create Ultion Smart. This combines the unbeaten security of an Ultion cylinder, the beauty of the Sweet furniture range and Salto Systems Danalock technology. The result is a SMART locking system which can be operated by the Danalock app, Apple Homekit, or Amazon Alexa, though one can also use the Ultion key.
The Ultion SMART product installs in exactly the same way as a door handle and cylinder. There are no external electronics, the outside looks like a normal Sweet handle and Ultion cylinder. It is as easy to fit on a new door, as it is to change on an existing door.
Whilst functionality may differ subject to the type of multipoint/mortice lock, Ultion SMART will work with any locking system that uses a euro-cylinder. It will be available in handle fixing centres of 211mm and 122mm. There will also be a Sweet escutcheon version for doors that do not use a lever handle and/or mortice locks.
The new stainless wrapped Sweet handle will come as standard on the outside, with the grey internal finish. Other external colours are available by utilising the other Sweet handle products. Or the customer could always keep their existing external handle if they wish to retain the current appearance.
All the ‘standard’ Ultion features such as the £1000 guarantee, Key Control, the keyed-alike service and master-key options carry through to Ultion SMART.
RRP will be £229 inc VAT. It will be available for pre-order from your Brisant trade login from Tuesday 21st of May, with an expected shipping of end of June. As a pre-order offer we will send a free demonstration unit (£195) with any pre-orders of 10 or more.
The Ultion SMART website is now available to view at www.ultion-lock.co.uk/ultion-smart
Packaging
The current Ultion green box will be upgraded to a white design, with an extra side. This extra side enables the box to be closed and secured without the use of transparent sticky pads. This means that keyed-alike and master key Ultions can be delivered in boxes that look good and stay together better.
The new Point of Sale Ultion Clam Pack is ideal for customers with shops and trade counters. Designed exclusively for Ultion the pack grips any Ultion cylinder up to 55/55, three (thicker!) keys, the guarantee card, and the fixing screws. They can be either hung from a point of sale display or they can be free standing on a counter.
The included point of sale card clearly shows the security benefits and accreditations carried by Ultion, and at the same time promoting the opportunity of having more doors Ultion protected and keyed alike. The new, reusable clam pack will be in stock by the end of May and available from the Brisant online ordering page.
