COMPOST REBATE HELPING RESIDENTS RECYCLE: LORD MAYOR

We’re committed to ensuring Brisbane remains clean, green and sustainable. That’s why we introduced a rebate of up to $70 for Brisbane residents who purchase home composting equipment. About 11,500 residents have received the rebate and I’m encouraging more to take advantage of this offer.

Composting your food scraps not only reduces your personal waste and greenhouse gas emissions but provides nutrient-rich compost for your garden or house plants. We’ve also waived the establishment fee for green waste recycling bins, which are an easy way for residents to dispose of lawn clippings and leaves. Council uses this green waste to make mulch, helping Brisbane remain clean and green.
