Brisbane’s new era of connected transport

Brisbane Metro’s pilot vehicle has arrived for testing throughout 2022 and into 2023. It’s the first of the 60 high-capacity, highfrequency Brisbane Metro vehicles Council will introduce – the first of their kind in Australia.

The Brisbane Metro has many light rail features but can travel on existing infrastructure instead of needing tracks, overhead wires and poles. Flash charging systems are used to charge the Brisbane Metro at end of route locations in under six minutes and they emit zero tailpipe emissions. Flash charging points will be installed at four end of route locations and are 85 times faster than at-home electric vehicle charging systems. Brisbane Metro is a new transport solution linking the city to the suburbs and a key part of Brisbane’s greater transport network. Visit our website and search ‘Brisbane Metro’ for project updates.
