• Explore the beaches of Bribie with both calm and surf beaches on offer

• BYO kayak, or hire one when you are there

• Visit the Bribie Island Butterfly House (open on Wednesdays and Sundays)

• Walk the Bicentennial Bushwalk (animals to be spotted include kangaroos, dolphins, wallabies, whales, kookaburras, dingos, emus, echidnas, lizards)

• Hire a Jet ski and enjoy some watersports in the Pumicestone Passage

• Visit the Bribie Island Seaside Museum

• Hire a BBQ boat and head out for lunch and a fish

• If you own a 4WD, buy a permit online and head out for a beach drive.

• Grab some fish and chips and enjoy a sunset dinner by the ocean

• On the way home stop by the Sandstone Point Hotel for some lunch. The kids will love the outdoor playground and petting zoo.

• Finally, don’t forget the Abbey Museum which is also on your way home, around 15 minutes drive from the Bribie Island Bridge.

Camping on Bribie Island

If you have a 4WD you can book a site at one of four beach camping spots, some just metres from the ocean. Facilities like toilets and showers vary depending on the campsite.

Poverty Creek Camping Area – 14 numbered sites and one large group area in a bush setting.

Gallagher Point Camping Area – 6 campsites in a bush setting.

Handy to know You need a 4WD and a permit to drive on the beaches on Bribie Island, and you need a permit to camp. Campfires are permitted within the fire rings provided (unless there is a fire ban).
