Course details The course is designed to prepare you to work effectively and confidently in an academic setting and is ideal if you wish to continue your studies in an English-speaking environment or prepare for an exam. Using materials from National Geographic Learning and a coursebook which has been specifically designed for BSC, you will benefit from innovative material and develop online collaboration and project work skills while improving your English.

Course Outcomes On completion of this course, using innovative, interesting material from our partners at National Geographic Learning (NGL) and additional online digital project work, you will: • Be better prepared to work effectively and confidently in an academic setting at home, abroad or online. • Have developed and demonstrated, using English, the 21st Century Skills that are increasingly demanded by academic intuitions. • Have improved your teamwork, creative, presentation and critical thinking skills all while advancing your digital competency and English language ability. • Have created a digital record of your work with an ability to operate in English that can be shown with pride to family and friends. • Have grown in confidence and feel prepared for the next step.

Online Skills for Academic Success £180 per week
Course Components:
Lessons per week 10 lessons
• 10 live online lessons per week (lessons are 50 minutes each) • Four lessons based on bespoke BSC/National Geographic book material and skills; six lessons of collaborative project work (including digital portfolio management) • Up to 150 minutes of guided self-study/peer-collaboration in preparation for the live lessons
1-3 week bookings £180 per week 4 weeks + 10% discount £162 per week
• Digital portfolio to host project work and demonstrate the skills being developed.
Course Requirements: You must have: • A reliable broadband internet connection • An up to date and working laptop/PC/Chrome Book/I-pad or similar, with a webcam and mic. A headset with a mic would be desirable. (A smart phone on its own will not be sufficient) It is a communicative and collaborative course and we recommend having your video feeds on throughout the lessons. The aim is to replicate a live classroom as much as possible. Should you feel uncomfortable doing this, we advise you to let us know in advance and inform your teacher in your first lesson. By participating in the course, students agree to the digital content created being shared within British Study Centres. That said, at no point will anybody be compelled or pressured into being filmed.
Extras • For courses of 15, 20 or 25 lessons per week, our Online Skills for Success courses can be combined with Online General English or IELTS Preparation. • myBSC can be purchased as a stand- alone product after the 3 month access has expired • Specialist Business or EAP one to one lessons are available at £60 per hour (£50/hr if 10 or more booked at one time). Lesson times can be arranged to suit student and teacher and are flexible (evenings and weekends also possible)

Your teacher will also set homework for you here. Access to myBSC is for the duration of your lessons and a further 3 months.
