Explorations: Teaching and Learning English in India

British Council India initiated the ELTReP (English Language Teaching Research Partnership) award programme in 2012, building on the global programme of the same name. The programme facilitates innovative research to benefit the learning and teaching of English in India. We seed-funded a number of research awards for teachers and academics working in HE institutions. Between 2012 and 2016, three cohorts of practitioners have completed 33 action research projects under this award scheme. Explorations: Teaching and Learning English in India presents the work of thirty three writers who were supported in carrying out and presenting the results of action research on the teaching and learning of English in a wide range of contexts in India. All writers work, in different capacities, to support learners in developing their English skills.
