SILVER MEDALLIST CATHRINE LAUDRUP-DUFOUR FROM THE HOME SIDE DENMARK PRESENTED A STUNNING FREESTYLE WITH HER OWN AND SARAH PIDGLEY’S VAMOS AMIGOS (BY VITALIS), DESPITE A MISTAKE IN AN EARLY EXTENDED TROT. AS HER ARTISTIC MARKS FOR THE AMBITIOUS FLOORPLAN TO MUSIC FROM LES MISERABLES MOUNTED UP AND UP, SHE CAME CLOSEST TO LOTTIE WITH 89.411%.

AN OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE IN HER FIRST WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS SAW THE NETHERLANDS’ DINJA VAN LIERE AND HERMÈS (EASY GAME X FLEMMINGH) SCOOP DOUBLE BRONZE, IN THE FREESTYLE AND THE SPECIAL.

CHARLOTTE DUJARDIN WAS THRILLED WITH IMHOTEP, OWNED BY CORAL INGHAM AND CARL HESTER, IN HIS FIRST EVER GRAND PRIX FREESTYLE. JUST NINE YEARS OLD, THE EVERDALE X VIVALDI GELDING SHOWED INCREDIBLE TALENT AND POTENTIAL. “HE’S GONE BEYOND WHAT I THOUGHT HE COULD HAVE DONE HERE - HE’S DEALT WITH THE ATMOSPHERE AND THE CROWD AMAZINGLY,” SAID CHARLOTTE. A SCORE OF 83.132% GAVE THE PAIR A TOP TEN FINISH.

CATHRINE LAUDRUPDUFOUR AND VAMOS AMIGOS PRODUCED A GRAND PRIX SPECIAL FULL OF ELEGANCE AND PANACHE FOR 81.322% AND THE SILVER MEDAL.

LOTTIE FRY AND GLAMOURDALE TOOK THE GRAND PRIX SPECIAL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP BY A MARGIN OF MORE THAN ONE PER CENT WITH A NEW PB SCORE OF 82.508%. NO FEWER THAN 16 TENS WERE AWARDED, WITH THE EXTENDED CANTER AND TWO-TEMPIS PARTICULAR HIGHLIGHTS.

THE PODIUM GAVE A HINT OF WHAT WAS TO COME IN THE FREESTYLE, WITH LOTTIE FLANKED BY CATHRINE LAUDRUP-DUFOUR AND BRONZE MEDALLIST DINJA VAN LIERE. IMHOTEP, KNOWN AS ‘PETE’, PRODUCED SOME IMPRESSIVE HIGHLIGHTS FOR CHARLOTTE DUJARDIN. COMPETING AT ONLY HIS THIRD EVER INTERNATIONAL SHOW AND HIS THIRD GRAND PRIX SPECIAL, THIS EXCEPTIONAL TALENT SCORED 77.523% FOR SIXTH PLACE.

THEIR TIME TO SHINE…GARETH HUGHES AND CLASSIC BRIOLINCA EXECUTED THE CRUCIAL TRANSITIONS BETWEEN COLLECTION AND EXTENSION IN THE FIRST PART OF THE SPECIAL WITH BRILLIANCE. THE 16-YEAR-OLD MARE BY TRENTO B ALSO SCORED 10S FOR HER OUTSTANDING PIROUETTES.

RICHARD DAVISON AND BUBBLINGH (LINGH X PICANDT) KICKED OFF THE BRITISH CHALLENGE, 20 YEARS AFTER RICHARD RODE FOR THE TEAM AT THE WORLD EQUESTRIAN GAMES IN JEREZ ON BUBBLINGH’S DAM, BALLASEYR ROYALE. RICHARD PILOTED HIS POWERHOUSE GELDING WITH ADMIRABLE SKILL AND SENSITIVITY TO GET GREAT BRITAIN OFF THE MARK WITH 68.851%.
