YUNA Yuna is a portable water purifier conceived for members of the poorest communities in third world countries who need to walk several kilometers each day in search of water. Yuna allows for ergonomic transportation of 3.5L of water that is purified along the way with its centralized water filter. This concept can also be applied to hikers, military, and disaster relief scenarios.
The valve An integrated design allows the valve lid to be used as a drinking cup. Once valve is twisted and opened, filtered water pours out in a controlled flow. Water can be dispered while Yuna is strapped to the user or when set down on it’s base.
Ideation development The ideation thought process was based around providing an ergonomic carrying method for people to transport heavy loads of water. I wanted to place an integrated water filter that would purify the water in transit, and went through the process of where it would be ideally palced. Further ideation was made taking into account the process of pouring water into the container and how the water would be dispersed when users are drinking.
How it works Build filter
Unscrew middle section to access water filter. Place coffe filter, fine sand, corse sand, and rocks into the cavity.

WATER FILTER Valve
Twist the valve open pipeflow and allow filtered water to come out. Twist back to close valve.
Filters are assembled by users on site using locally sourced materials. Unfiltered water passes through rocks and sand to become purified and potable.

Other uses Yuna is also suited for people who are in route for several days without guaranteed access to clean water such as hikers, disaster relief victims, and military personel. Yuna is compact and can efficiently stacked to ship out in boxes to final destinations.
