Versions

We creatives are riddled with perceptions and societal structures that make us feel like we can’t embody our highest selves. Wishing that we lived in a world where our ideas and creative expressions can mature and be shown in their purest form is something we long for. While we are stuck on this Earth full of limitations, we imagine a dream world where no such thing exists. A world where growth, creativity, and self-expression are boundless. What you see from this point forward is our version of that, our Dreamwrld.

All Of Hers

In front of the mirror, I see how many di erent people one person can truly be.The cherry red tube of lipstick facing me on the dresser tells me I can be a sultry, bold woman for the night. Maybe with some heels, a blazer if I want some edge. Can I pull it o ? Will people see through it?

Maybe a nude pink. A softer approach to today. Matte? Gloss? How will this have people perceive me? I feel washed out in that pink. But last week I loved it. Today am I pink? Would a brown neutral match my features more? What season am I in? Why do I care so much about this lipstick?

I always wear chapstick. The same chapstick, under everything, never changes. A clear base. But what I put over it changes me for the day. It tells people who I am that day, how I’m feeling. Bold, subtle, neutral. It’s just my lips. Why would this change so much?

God.

Jewelry. Gold or silver? I always wear gold. What if I wore silver? Which is considered softer? Do I seem too out, there switching to silver? I never wear big earrings. Maybe today I will.

If I walked out in public wearing all silver, bold red lipstick, my hair pin straight using the straightening iron I never use, no one would know this isn’t me. No one would know this is a completely di erent version of myself than I show every day. If I moved away, and rebirthed this new version of me, introduced her to the world, no one would know she’s out of character. I’d be whoever I wish to be

The makeup is suddenly dripping o my face. Melting o , like sweat. Puddling onto the floor. Collecting into a pile of all I could choose to be, who I am, who I have been, who I am today. Sliding away from the bare canvas of my skin. Leaving me blank. Reality of the canvas.

This blank state is also a version of me. A new face I can present. The raw, untouched starting point of all my personas. The starting code to all my characters. She is natural and untouched. She is so neglected, always being covered, painted with makeup. What if she came out? What if I went about my day as just her? Who would people see me as then? The truest self. Facing me in the mirror.

Still life , GH 2022
Bold. Soft. Natural. Untamed. Manicured. I can be all of these. Or none of these. To choose who to be today.

The American Dream By McKenna Lineberry

The American dream has been painted as one of civility, sophistication, and freedom. Where anyone is eligible for the boundless opportunities the nation harbors, despite their origins. Where men can make mounds of money unrestricted by the law or a higher power, and where women get to bask in the luxury of home making.

What they failed to address is the necessary nightmares that allowed for this "American dream." They fail to mention the fact that the American dream excludes millions of people. Not all women dream of complacency and servitude, the nuclear family, or an endless cycle of cooking, cleaning, smiling, and nodding. Nor to be arm candy, to give birth, be married, or to discard their own identity and be called their husband’s last name for the rest of their lives.

Many women dream of independence and self-fulfillment. Many women find their value outside of procreation and submissiveness and hope to make something of themselves. The American dream inarguably lies on principles in opposition to this. America was colonized by White Christian men that wholeheartedly believed in the superiority of their identity. This alone immediately doomed the idea that everyone could experience and fit into the idea of the American dream. Anyone outside of this a uent, White, Christian male identity will never experience the American dream in full as it has, in some way, exploited their identity or met it with disregard. Despite the advertised intentions to bestow America to the world as a place of asylum for all, immigrants are consistently met with indi erence, hate, and inequity. The working class is often told to work harder to achieve unimaginable wealth, without recognizing the legislature that makes this impossible. Those who worship di erently are perceived to participate in sacrilege, and women are deemed ungrateful for their disinterest in the role of a male counterpart.

Women in particular have a unique relationship with the American dream. The idea of the house wife and the homemaker has been framed to seem like it comes from a place of consideration and care, as to fit the specific needs and inborn desires of the female sex - and I refuse to believe this was unintentional. It’s obvious that men assumed women were innately fragile and incapable, but it brings new meaning to the American dream to understand that men created a role for women to play to keep them complacent while pretending that they have their best interest at heart. However, men pushed the role of the house wife for their own betterment and interest. It allowed them to do whatever they wanted, uninfluenced by the opinions or hopes of their wives. And if their wives ever expressed dissatisfaction, it allowed them to hang their entire lives and everything they had over their heads. Proof of this aversion to women is alive today and observable in the way that men feel repulsion towards a woman that doesn’t dress to be easy on the eyes or act softly for the comfort of men. It is also seen in the way that some women participate in behaviors that make them more beautiful, more quiet and smaller to appease men in the workplace or elsewhere as means of survival. The patriarchy has created endless systems to contain women and keep them in a separate box so that they may not interfere with men’s successes and triumphs. Although the role of the housewife is more voluntary today than it has been in the past, it would be neglectful to claim that this disad- vantage and misogyny does not still exist. Recognition of a wrongful past is not interchangeable with ungratefulness. To acknowledge these faults does not mean that we must deny the existence of successes and positives. There is bravery in understanding your privilege, but also understanding that there is room for growth. While the American dream is true to its name for some, it is imperative to understand that in order for this dream to operate, it will almost always be at the expense of someone else.

As he waited for an answer he sat down with the trees as the rays of sun sneaked through the green. He set to meditate wondering what does it really mean to know thyself? Let go of the pain! he told himself. At least loosen the grip, I know you can love you, he thought, stop. Dissolve the ego. Hold the breath. Abandon the body.

Lay down with the owers. Feel the colors as they wave. Question everything and trust everything will be okay.

“You are exactly where you are supposed to be,” said the voice, “You are a piece of star that once blew up to create life. We all

come from the same spark: the color green, the leaves, the wind, your dreams and fears, you and me.

inside the mind of drovision

“Drovision lies between streetwear and performance art... we strive to create a community through the lenses of open minds, empathy, culture, and of course, fashion.”

where did the name DROVISION come from?

my full name is lisandro, but everyone calls me dro. the name DROVISION. came from me.. only i can see the way i see. i just want to give people a little bit of my perspective & maybe they will see things a bit di erently.

what inspires you? my mind is full of references, may it be an image, music, a piece of fashion or art, & i create something out of something so small and try to elevate it.

what does DROVISION think about fashion in 2022?

it’s all mid, only balenciaga is taking risks & i think more fashion brands should take more risks. we should all be wearing robot suits by now in my opinion. i’m really into smaller brands right now. i love what my friends make. tallwood & visualsbyjada are my favorite clothing brands right now. you’ll always catch me wearing their clothes.

over the past month in Tallahassee, your brand has been able to pop up around the city & have various promotional events. where do you think you will take the brand to next?

i want to keep creating & pushing boundries while never staying in a box or being complacent. i can destroy DROVISION tomorrow & start making candles if i want to, i just wanna have fun. me and my friends who are a part of the emerald vision, we want to create things people couldnt imagine.

DROVISION isn’t just sunglasses, it’s more than that and soon it’ll be shown to more people.

who would be your dream designer to collaborate with?

my dream is to collaborate with ass pizza, i love everything he does. he sometimes goes to all the walmarts all around the usa & sells custom garments out of a uhaul truck. i think it’s pretty sick.

where do you see DROVISION venturing in the future within the fashion industry?

DROVISION will continue to engineer and create to push the fashion industry from staying in a box and see things di erently. i’d love to venture o into creating more performance art. i love getting certain reactions out of people especially through art and fashion. i want to provide experiences that people will never forget. an experience or feeling means so much more than just a price tag. the value people put on art & fashion is something so surreal to me .. they value the mona lisa like millions while it only took a couple of dollars to make & i think that’s why art & fashion is so powerful.

PITCH DARK BY MILA GAMARRA FEATURING CILLA AND FRANZINI

The night sky was shining down, my young mind was at a loss for words. I felt something in my hands. Looking down, opening my hand is when I saw it. A little globe covered mostly in blue.

I held it looking in wonder, at what it had to o er. The weight was so heavy but it felt so delicate holding it. That’s when I realized there was so much to learn, from the lights of a city, the wilderness of the jungle, to the deep blue of the ocean.

Looking at this small world, that’s when I felt the feelings, the emotions. The beauty it had; all its wonders made it precious to me.

That’s when I heard everything. All at once, my mind became polluted. The sounds of a horn in the background, mountains of trash, ice melting, beautiful creatures being killed; horrific. I dropped the globe. Stepping back from what I just witnessed. My eyes were tear-stained and my hands shaking. It was only a minute, but it was a lifetime of pain I just experienced. I looked back at the globe wondering how something could be so beautiful. But treated as if it were nothing. When it was so much more. As if it was a nightmare created by our hands. The planet. Find Me There

Forgotten field of summer

In between dark forests. Never have I seen a sunset so pure, Dreams could not compare to its peace…

Many forge along its beauty, Entering with fear, but struck with hope.

This place that stories describe, Here, untouched by the faithful many.

Enjoying the sounds of silence

Remembering how simple the journey seemed, Echoed through my mind.

Find Me There.

The stress and weight of the world

Is inescapable and dreaded but There is solace found in sleep

With sleep comes dreams

With dreams comes comfort, Hope, happiness, and wonder

When sleep ceases and reality begins again

Hold on tight to the feeling, To the thoughts, To the hopes

That dreams can come true

Where the world is forgiving

The world is accepting

The world is changing

MISSING THE AFTERLIFE

Walking to the water, the serenity of it all. The peace. I felt no tears - no fears. My mind. Clear, but my thoughts were inconclu- sive. Looking below is when I saw him. His eyes were the same as I last saw them. Happy, I could see the smile. I tried to get to him, but the water separated us.I look into his eyes again, he seemed sad. That’s when I tell him I missed him. Miss him by my side, especially at night.I miss him waking me up.

Making noise when I would arrive home.“I miss you.” Those were my final words to him. The day is clear now the grass below was soft. Now, he turned around and called my name. I looked at him and ran to him. I hugged him.“What’s with the hug? You never hug me.”One statement made me regret so much in my life. The hug wasn’t real. There’s no warmth. No feel- ing. That’s when I woke up. It was all a dream.

Entry 9

The music in him.

Feeling your hands trace my skin, You were touching my soul. And I didn’t care, I felt so high, The music. intertwined with what we have to offer. Is this heaven? I didn’t need an explanation. I had come to be alone, to lose control. You were right there. It was as if you were mine for the night.

Where you wanted to be. I wanted to be too. Why were you here, your presence was almost everywhere. There were so many places you could have been. I felt like I was nding myself. Through you.

My senses were coming together. It’s as if we have known each other.

The music was getting louder, The melody- so sweet with you there. It felt unfair as a felony. This feeling was crazy. All I need is for you to tell me you want me. When you look me in the eyes. Tell me you want me.

I was shaking as he was making a mess out of me. He had no idea the power he had over me. I promise I don’t need psychological help. And if I do, I’ll reel in the gin. Because I don’t want to feel this kind of love.

This should have come with a warning. If it did, I probably would have ignored it the next morning. But secretly mourn the heart I lost.

Dreams of Influence

Dreams may seem fickle to some, but to others, dreams are the life force that carries our society forward. People dream of wealth. People dream of adventure. People dream of love. People dream of progress. There is no end to what people can dream. Small dreams, big dreams—they all have the potential to lead to something magical.

History makers, change makers, and activists are all dreamers that take action. They have shaped our world and continue to influence society.

A dream of the extraordinary, the peculiar led to what today has become a literary and cinematic affliction. Mary Shelley’s fantastic nightmare of a re-animated corpse inspired her classic, iconic novel Frankenstein. In her nightmare she saw “the hideous phantasm of a man stretched out, and then, on the working of some powerful engine, showed signs of life, and stirred with an uneasy, half vital motion.” Her revolutionary novel was the first of its kind and basically created the science fiction genre.

Of course, there is no discussion of historic dreams without the civil rights movement leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He gave one of the most famous speeches at the Lincoln memorial that gathered a group of over 250,000 people. “I have a dream” were the words that sparked hope and action. King has inspired many generations of dreamers to fight for a better world.

Dreamers come in many different forms. Paul McCartney, legendary singer-songwriter, dreamed up one of the Beatles’ biggest hits. The song, Yesterday, came to McCartney in a dream. He seemingly composed the melody in his sleep, and it came back to him when he woke up. Today, the song is one of the most covered songs in history. Dreams can truly inspire art.

Art, literature, politics, and even science are all influenced by dreams. Yes, even logic and reason-based science has been shaped by dreams. Albert Einstein’s discovery of the principle of relativity was brought on by a dream. He dreamed he was sledding down a mountainside gaining so much speed he eventually reached the speed of light, and up above the appearance of the stars changed in relation to him. After pondering this dream in an awake state, it led him to a scientific revelation.

Dreams inspire and influence. Without fantastical, spectacular, nightmarish, disturbing visions during sleep, our world would not be what it is today. Dreams can be catalysts for the magnificent and the change that the world needs.

The eerie silence of the night rattles my eyelids open to the sight of a glistening night sky. Living in the city, I am not used to the quietness that is common in the forest. I am accustomed to bustling city sounds and bright lights that tarnish and taint the sky’s natural landscape. Naturally, I am amazed by the Luminous balls of hydrogen and helium gas held together by gravity that throb and thump above my head. The wind rustles branches and leaves. Cicadas and crickets rub their mighty legs together creating the sweet melody of the night as a violinist in an orchestra. With the sky draping over me and the cool ground underneath my body, I begin to feel calm enough to inhale the surroundings darkness and when I exhale, I discover a stillness within myself.

A gust of wind ushers through the tree canopy, and I pull my blanket tighter around my small frame and push my body closer to Dominik’s. I lay my head still against his ribcage and listen to his heartbeat and breath in perfect rhythm with one another. The sounds of auscultations’ remind me of the presence of something much deeper: the depth beneath our thoughts where life begins. The wind is chilled, and the stars burn bright against the dark backdrop of our existence. Feeling invigorated by the coolness of night and brilliancy of the stars my body stirs. In response Dominik’s body rustles against mine and I can tell he too is mesmerized by the stars that cast an infatuating spell on us both.

Speechless and completely captivated, we lay motionless with our backs flat against the damp earth and gaze out at the sea of stars. After an eternity of silence Dominik speaks up, “I wonder what is up there? I mean, I wonder if there is life on other planets. I think that there is. I think there are planets just like ours expanding in galaxies that we don’t even know exist.” Without any doubt in my mind I reply, “Of course there is! We are nothing. You and I are specs of dust on an astral plane so large that neither one of us can even begin to comprehend its size. I believe there is life beyond us too.” “But what about God?” he asks. I let out a small laugh “Who am I to say if there is one definite God. But in all seriousness, if space is big enough for life on other planets, I think there is room for all sorts of gods and goddesses.”

Our bodies seem to sink further and further into the ground. “I think so too. I like to think that the sky is heaven’s garden, and the stars are heaven’s angles.” he tells me. “That’s a beautiful thought. I hope one day, a long time from now, I’ll see you there.” I kissed his cheek and he wrapped his arms around me bathing me in tenderness. I start to wonder about genuine peace, the kind of peace that makes life on earth worth living knowing that there is so much more we have yet to discover. I am a believer and I place all my confidence in the great beyond. Dominik points and whispers the names of the constellations in my ear, “Cassiopeia, Orion, Scorpius, Ursa major” which sends me into a starry, flowy dream voyage only rivaled by Chagall’s La Mariée.

A Celebration of Love

queerness to me goes so much beyond my sexuality. queerness or not tting into heteronormative relationships is embedded with how I express myself as a woman of color. being queer to me means nding a sense of self, love, community, and peace. as an asexual, queer woman I feel that I am often misunderstood but having that personal reassurance means the world and is the foundation for who I am.

my experience being queer has been a transformative one. it’s always enlightening when you get the chance to fully understand your identity and make sense of why you felt so far removed from some of your peers. understanding myself to be someone who is a lesbian has opened up a pathway to understanding my gender and further has helped me gure out how i show up in the world. being part of the queer community has been an amazing experience and to know how many people feel the same ways i do and have similar experiences as mine makes me feel so supported and understood without having to explain my intricate thoughts, feelings, and emotions.

A Dream within a Dream

Snuggled underneath my duvet, the evening takes on the aroma of night. Falling asleep is always the best part of my day. I love the serenity, the quiet, and the softness. I love the feeling of my mind shifting gears. My rapid thoughts can nally begin to slow down in these moments between wakefulness and sleep. In a world that cannot relent from insistence, slumber washes over me. I am standing on the edge of something incredibly important –nature’s farewell kiss of the day. Soft blue edges surround me as they surround the forthcoming sunset. The air is as sinless as the Garden of Eden. Blossoms of violet, crimson, burnt orange, and gold paint the sky and settle my heart. I feel the warmth of my breath unable to tumble its way out -of my mouth. I am mute for the joy that I feel

surmounts everything else. Who knew an ending could look this beautiful? I have a hard time separating reality from my imagination. I wonder what is real and what is a creation of my mind? Some say dreams are illogical, and I would have to agree, because creativity is never logical. Creativity is the ability to bring something original into existance. Dreaming brings my creativity to life in vivid hues, scents, and sensations that cannot compare to the truth. There are explanations for how we dream; however, the explanations for why we dream are unclear. The sunset came in a bold brilliant blaze. I am at a distance from the sea. I see the shades of nightfall and hear the monotony of night roll in. The ocean laps lazily at the shore in a glistening blend of navy and royal blue. The constellation of stars in the dark, vast sky shines in contrast to the rising moon. The promise of the sun brings on reassurance like the crashing waves below me. Psychiatrist Carl Jung believed that dreams were “actually direct

expressions of the mind.” He reasoned that dreams represented the mind’s unconscious and repressed state. My dreams are occasionally outlandish though, and often riddled with symbols, images, and objects of my daily considerations. My dreams represent my authentic self and make up who I am. The white gold moon in its heavenly and hellish exquisiteness drapes over the night - every crater, crack, and imperfection on bright display. The stars are silently present, yet I feel their trembling twinkle deep down in my center. Their persistent glimmer is occasionally met with a discreet ashing spark, imaginably an optical illusion. The spectacle alone could be called a psalm through the eyes of anyone willing to raise their heads upward. Neurologist Sigmund Freud believed dreams were “a form of wish-ful llment.” He supposed that one’s true desires are present in their dreams. My dreams often re ect my desires, and I habitually treat my desires as problems to be solved. Thus, my desires manifest themselves as goals, for which I always nd the means to ful ll. The moon morphs into the sight of a gracious goddess. My soul shakes at the sight of her genuine beauty. She feels like an extension of my nest self and everything I hope and long to be. She tells me she is proud of who I am now, and who I will become. I tell her we should get together more often. I wonder if she knows how much I look up to her kindness. She asks me if I still write about her. I tell her that I do, especially when I dream. Let me not forget to mention that dreams and nightmares are synonymous. You cannot have dreams without nightmares in the same way you cannot feel happiness without having

felt sadness. I like to think of a nightmare as another type of dream, one that is more revealing and raw. Nightmares are the ghosts that haunt our present, past, and future. They bring all our dark- est fears to life. The moon morphs again but this time into the sight of a beguiling beelzebub. I feel like I have met him several times before but cannot recognize him. He tells me he misses me and my naked heart. I tell him he feels like muscle memory. I wonder how he knows I’ve only felt religion with people who have never stepped foot in a church. He asks me if I still write about him. I tell him that I am too busy now but sometimes when I dream about him, I do. Maybe there is no need to sperate your dreams and your reality for they are one and the same. I have no tight grip on reality or my imagination simply because

neither will last forever. Everything that you and I possess can and will come to an eventual end. Not happiness, not love, not success, and blatantly not life will last. Perpetuity is a false sense of assurance. The only thing that I can cling to is continuity; sunsets like sunrises will transpire every single day. Continuity is the only constant and perpetuity is an illusion. Finally, the sun rose as if I had nothing more to do than warm up against those blue edges once again. The sun casts a rosy hue alongside the crisp, clear morning air. It gleams and glosses against the ocean. Beneath its ethereal glow there is the warmth of tangerine and the blush of scarlet. I am completely renewed and awake to all possibilities that lie ahead. After the blackness of night, the sun spreads its gold in every direction for all to feel the comfort of its light. Before I’ve uncovered myself from my duvet, I ponder sunsets and sunrises. My sunset holds peace, and my sunrise holds promise. They both come in the way natural forces do – with no invitation yet eternally welcomed. They are gallant and uninhibited. They are free for anyone who cares to open their eyes to dusk and dawn and watch the world sleep and wake. They make me question if I am living a dream within a dream. In the magni cent words of poet Edgar Allan Poe “All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream.”

“Reality”

“I don't paint dreams or nightmares; I paint my own reality.”
― Frida Kahlo

Reality

To my dearest dreams and My most dreadful nightmares: In dreams, nightmares, and even reality I am left standing on the edge Of something incredibly important. You are like pins upon my pillow Poking and puncturing my brain. My dreams sprinkle like rain and My nightmares flow like a riverbed, Simply dictated by luck and fate. o is to say dreams and nightmares Aren’t as real as the here and now? I am my dreams and I am my nightmares. Is it exactly who I am, Trust me.

The Nightmare

Dispersed despair is in the air, I hear bats screeching beware. In a throbbing bottomless pit My hands fail to reach the surface And I cannot pull myself up. I am completely alone Yet unbothered by the unknown. Like a fly caught in a web –Hopeless and insignificant. Everything is carnage but I call it art. A blood orange sunrise ensues. All I can think about is How much I hate needing to be loved. Being destroyed and rebuilt takes its toll, Perhaps this is what it’s feels like to decay. My eyes keep changing colors Like a mood ring –Hazy purple to a shade of coal. Exhausted by choice and consequence Acid tears leak onto my pillowcase. If you listen close enough Stillness is the only solvent, ich denigrates personality And destroys individuality, But gives us leave to be universal. I fear that I am exactly who I am. Do you trust me?

The Dream

I have entered a realm ere neither I nor the realm exists. With the knowledge of a sophist I am omnipotent and omnipresent, It’s like I can feel time moving. I embrace what ensues with charm And an overwhelming tenderness. A woman with long braids in her hair And ammolite eyes –so rare, Pours honey down my throat. It is fulfilling like life that is Unsubstantial and ba ing. I do not want to lose the pleasantness Or a single thread of happiness. I want to remember every, thing.

With sweetness still Lingering my breath, I go into the peace of wild things o do not tax their lives With forethought or grief. A crystal clarity is brought Into the brilliant blue sky. Awakening mother earth, I rest in the grace with the world. And I am free. I fear that I am exactly who I am. Do you trust me?

FOR EVERY BRAND AND NOTION THAT CORRESPONDS TO THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN WORDS AND CLOTHING, THERE IS AN UNDERLYING INSPIRATION AND MUSE THAT A PERSON OR DESIGNER IS ABLE TO TRANSLATE INTO ART WORK—AN ARTICLE OF CLOTHING. ALONG WITH POETRY, THERE IS ALWAYS GOING TO BE SET RULES IN THE WORLD OF FASHION, AS WELL AS EXPRESSION, CREATIVITY, AND RHYTHM. THE WORLD IS FILLED WITH SCRIPTURES OF WORDS, I MEAN A VAST MAJORITY OF THE POPULATION USES VERBAL LANGUAGE DAILY. I STILL REMEMBER READING THIS SHORT STORY THAT TALKED ABOUT THE SYMBOLISM BETWEEN THE COLOR OF A GIRL’S NAIL POLISH TO THE CURRENT STATE OF HOW SHE FELT—COLORS OF CLOTHING, SHOES, HOW SOMEONE DOES THEIR MAKEUP: IT’S ALL AROUND US. I, PERSONALLY, STILL LINGER ON THIS STORY IN CORRELATION TO HOW I PICK OUT EACH ARTICLE OF WHAT I WEAR ON A DAILY BASIS. FEELING ON EDGE? MAYBE I SHOULD THROW ON NEUTRAL TONES. FEELING EXCITED? MAYBE SOME GOLD JEWELRY AND GLITTERY EYE MAKEUP WILL DO. THIS EXPRESSION IS FOUND IN SO MANY OF US, WE JUST DON’T SEE THE UNDERLYING COMMODITY OF SUCH A DEPICTION TO ONE’S STYLE AND POETIC IRONY THAT MAY HAVE LED TO THEIR CLOTHING CHOICES. IN SO MANY OTHER SENSES, POETS SUCH AS EVE ENSLER TEND TO USE EXPRESSIVE POETRY AS A WAY OF DIVULGING INTO FASHION. HOW WE USE POETRY IN FASHION? IT SHOULD BE PRETTY OBVIOUS: WE CREATE IMAGERY AND SETTINGS IN OUR EVERYDAY LIVES TO CORRESPOND TO WHAT WE WANT TO WEAR. WE VISUALIZE THE CONVERSATIONS WE MAY HAVE AND WHAT WE WEAR WILL COME INTO OUR MINDS WHEN THIS OCCURS. “THE VERB THAT'S BEEN ENFORCED ON GIRLS IS TO PLEASE. GIRLS ARE TRAINED TO PLEASE...I WANT US ALL TO CHANGE THE VERB. I WANT THE VERB TO BE EDUCATE, OR ACTIVATE, OR ENGAGE, OR CONFRONT, OR DEFY, OR CREATE.” I THINK WHAT EVE WANTED HER AUDIENCE TO KNOW IS THAT THE WORLD IS SO HARD ON YOUNGER WOMEN, BECAUSE EXPRESSIVENESS IS DONE LESS AND LESS, EVEN TODAY. SHE SPEAKS TO THOSE THAT ARE STILL YOUTHFUL AND TO LET THEM KNOW THAT STRIVING FOR SOMETHING SHOULD NOT BE IMPOSSIBLE OR DISMISSED. CREATIVITY SHOULD NOT BE LIMITED.
