What I do:
I have always been a very sentimental girl. I wear my heart on my sleeve and I’m proud of it. As a photographer I have always been drawn to portraits and the power they have to tell our stories and save a precious moment in time. New born babies change so fast and I know you want to remember every tiny toe and gorgeous eyelash. I take great pride in not only providing beautiful portraits that will serve as a work of art in your home but capturing story telling images that preserve this precious moment in time.
Life style sessions:
When you book a newborn session with me you have two options for locations: at home or in studio. When you choose to do your session at home your images will have more a photo journalistic feel. This means that focus will be more on natural photographs that tell the story of babies in their 1st home.
Studio sessions:
If you like the look of more posed newborn images that incorporate different props and sets, then a studio session might be better suited for you and your baby. A pre session consultation will help us determine which location is right for your babies first photo-shoot!
What you need to know:
Newborn sessions are done within the first two weeks of your baby’s arrival. It is with in these first few weeks that baby is most likely to remain sleeping through their session, allowing them to be posed in props and in “squishy” positions. If for some reason we are not able to photograph your baby in this time frame, don’t worry we can always do a session at home or leave out the props. All my sessions are custom and come with a pre shoot consultation so that we are able to determine what style of session thats will suite you and result in gorgeous artwork for your home. Consider what types of colors you are using in your home that you would like to see in your wall art. Also consider if there are any props you would like to bring that will make the session that much more special to you. If there is a certain pose or prop you have seen that you would like, let me know. But keep in mind not all babies can assume the same poses (depends how they where positioned in the womb.) I will never do anything that is unsafe or will upset your baby! In fact your babies safety is my number one concern!
How to prepare:
When you are ready to book a session a $250.00 retainer will be collected then an appointment is held for you in the month you are due. I juggle my schedule to get you in at the perfect time if you baby does not come on thier due date. I keep my studio very warm (like hot yoga warm) and often have heart beat sound effects, to create a soothing “womb like� environment. While you may be sweating baby will be super cozy! We will take lots of breaks for feeding and cuddling so be prepared to be here for up to 3.5 hours.
I usually recommend that parents be photographed with their baby. Don’t worry about not looking your best mom! I will use all my best photography tricks to make you look fabulous. Bring along some neutral colored tops and bottoms or jeans. White, beige, black or gray will work best. Strapless tops are very popular for mom to wear while holding a nude baby. I recommend you dress in light layers because the room is so hot. You don’t need to bring anything else, I will take care of the rest...in fact why don’t you sit back and relax! If you have had a c-section, we will especially take care to ensure you are able to relax comfortably. You may want to bring a friend to help you with the baby while I’m photographing it.
