Using films like Clash Of The Titans and Troy, the children explore the facts and the myths surrounding the people of this ancient civilization, making and filming their own mythical monster adventure!
What happened to the children? The parents? The buildings? What was the war all about? What would happen when the air raid siren went off?

MYTHS AND LEGENDS ROBIN HOOD
INFORMATION TEXTS SPACE! THE FINAL FRONTIER!
CLASSIC TEXT/AUTHOR BLACK BEAUTY OR WAR OF THE WORLDS
To tie in to your Topic work, or as a stand-alone course, the children will be taken on an imaginary journey to Sherwood Forest to study the various depictions of Robin Hood and the characters that filled his legends. Working closely with all of the film versions, and some new interpretations, as well as the traditional stories, your class will be Merry Men and write their own intrepid adventure for the man in the hood!
These are the voyages of your children’s adventures into space, exploring the planets of the Solar System, the moon in our sky and the great ball of fire that is our Sun! Studying amazing film footage of the planets and the wider universe, the children become astronauts and scientists, exploring and recording new worlds and new civilisations, and boldly going where no pupil has gone before!
With classic movie versions of these books guaranteed to capture the hearts of the class, this visual exploration of these classic texts delves deep into the characters, the settings and the work of the authors themselves. The children will write their own ‘next chapter’ following the author’s style and film their own scenes to go into the movie!

SCRIPTS BACK TO THE FUTURE ‘Get back, Marty!’
Explore the magical world of CS Lewis’s Narnia in this course based on the novels and films of The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe. Exploring the language used to create Narnia and the creatures that live there, the children will use various strategies to improve their descriptive writing and develop their use of setting and characterisation in their own stories.
Lights, camera, get making!! Using clips and advice from working TV presenters, the children will study how to write and present different types of instructions before using their own words to present and film their own cookery or art show! It’s great!
Using the acclaimed documentary Sharkwater, the children learn about the plight of the shark in our waters, and how they are threatened by hunters and our own mistreatment of the oceans. They research, write and present arguments to support their own point of view and present it in a serious debate at the end of the course. SOS - Save Our Sharks!
Studying Robert Zemeckis’s original script and film for Back To The Future, the children study the creation and presentation of a working script, taking their thoughts through from idea, to characterization and setting, then finally, to the filming of their own scenes from the movie!
