Atlantic UK Atlantic UK Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Atlantic Group. The company is the sole distributor of Atlantic products throughout the UK and provides technical and after sales support. Its technical activity is to provide a high quality of heating design service to the home building industry, and to advise on meeting the Building Regulations, the Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) and the Code for Sustainable Homes (CfSH) as they relate to the Atlantic products.
Atlantic Group Atlantic is the name of a group of companies and also of the founding and largest individual company in the Group. The others include Guillot, Thermor, Sauter, Pacific and Ygnis. All are leading brands in different sectors of the space and water heating market. Since being founded in 1968, the Atlantic Group has a record of major innovation in electronic and digital controls, anti-corrosion systems, functional design and performance. It has become the world leader in direct electric heating. The products in this brochure are all of Atlantic design and manufacture. The brochure brings together ranges of space and water heaters with an integrity of production, marketing and support that can be matched by no other company. Atlantic manufactures over 2.5 million panel heaters and 1.7 million water heaters yearly.

Regulations in the house building industry
Background The Building Regulations Approved Document L1 for conservation of fuel and power in new build developments and the Standard Assessment Procedure, SAP were revised in 2005/2006. In a move to reduce carbon emission rates and improve energy efficiency in use, design requirements for all buildings have been made more stringent, regardless of fuel type. Further step changes will be made in 2010 and 2013. Current proposals for 2013 do not permit the use of domestic gas heating. The Code for Sustainable Homes, CfSH, that now applies to social housing sets more onerous building requirements than the Standard Assessment Procedure, SAP. In due course this will be taken up by the private sector.
Implications for house building Under the present SAP and CfSH standards electric heating can be installed cost effectively. It requires attention to building insulation levels, air tightness and possibly the use of complementary equipment such as heat pumps, MVHR or solar heating as part of the package. Direct electric heating is the most favoured electric type by the Building Regulations, because of its controllability. Atlantic UK will be pleased to work with you to identify a heating solution for your specific application. Please contact us on 01825 767474 or email us at technical@atlantic-uk.co.uk.

Programming: Panel heaters Fundamental to all Atlantic heaters is the level of control which can be achieved to enable efficient running. For bathroom heaters and water heaters please see the relevant pages in this brochure.
Pass Program System Time control
Temperature control For F18, Nirvana and Tatou panel heaters on the Pass Program system have two temperature control ranges. The Comfort range, for occupied rooms and the Eco range, for unoccupied rooms and bedrooms during the usual hours of sleep. The Eco range sets a temperature reduction below the chosen Comfort level, with a maximum difference of 10°C. With a Comfort temperature of 21°C, for example, the Eco temperature can be set down to 11°C. This is unique to Atlantic. The usual industry standard only allows for a fixed maximum temperature difference of 4°C or 5°C resulting in 30% to 60% higher energy bills.
With the Chronopass compatible heaters, typically, dwellings are divided into two time control zones: day rooms and bedrooms, each having a common pattern of occupancy, with a Chronopass in each.

Applications The applications to which different heater types can be put will usually be decided by the circumstances, aesthetics and budget.
Panel heaters The table below shows the most common combinations for panel heaters and time controls. Under the required application select your preferred heater model and then one time control type. Both must have the same symbol.

■ Pass Program - Pilot Wire Time switching of all Atlantic panel heater types other than the F17 is electronic, uses a signal current of only a few milliamps, carried along a dedicated ‘pilot wire’. It avoids the need for high cable ratings carrying the full heating load, but it is a 240V signal so double insulation is required for the pilot wire. The F17 does require the switching of the full zone heating load.
■ Chronopass This is the time programming cassette that switches the heaters between the Comfort and Eco temperatures or Comfort and Off depending on the interface model that is fitted to the back of the master heater in each control zone. It has three separate clock displays that can be freely allocated between the days of the week. Programming is simply done with the use of three buttons.
■ Pass Program - Mains Borne Signaling, MBS MBS programming is attractive for retrofit since it avoids rewiring. The Atlantic system is particularly simple to install because the automatic allocation of a unique zone code on setting up avoids the need for signal filtering. It is excellent for replacing storage heaters, with direct electric heating being favoured over storage by SAP and the Building Regulations. It is also cost saving.
■ Run Back Timer, Central Clock, Manual Remote, Key Card Except for the F17 heater, these switches would use the Pilot Wire. For the F17 the supply load must be switched, using a suitably rated relay in addition if the load is greater than the switch rating.
Bathroom Heaters All Atlantic bathroom heaters have integrated accurate and adjustable room thermostats for energy conservation. Principally used in domestic applications they are robust enough for commercial use.
Water Heaters The Atlantic Central range of unvented water heaters are for domestic and commercial use, providing hot water at mains pressure. Atlantic UK will be pleased to work with you to identify a complete heating solution for your specific application. Please contact us on 01825 767474.

Central Central Unvented Water Heater
The Central is a direct electric unvented heater for domestic hot water supply. The high quality glass lining together with the Atlantic patented ACI protection system gives long tank life. This is supported by a 5 year guarantee without the need for an annual inspection.
The easy to maintain water heater. No annual inspection required means saved costs. The dry heating element allows servicing without draining the system, saving time, trouble and costs.
Characteristics ■ Mains pressure hot water for super showers and fast filling baths. ■ High quality glass lined steel tank. ■ Low watt density ceramic heating element. ■ ACI system for maximum protection against corrosion. ■ CFC-free high density insulation foam. ■ T&P valve. ■ G3 Safety kit supplied with the unit as standard. ■ 5 year guarantee on the tank (no annual inspection required), 2 years on electrical parts.
