Good afternoon all and welcome to Hayes Lane for the visit of Notts County. I’d like to extend that welcome to Neil Ardley, the players, supporters and officials of Notts County. It says something when our dressing room after the Eastleigh match was filled with disappointed faces. This group wants to win - but we have to remind ourselves of the immense achievement we have made so far this season. To be well into September and remain unbeaten is incredible, I couldn’t be prouder of the boys. Teams are upping their game against us, and Eastleigh did just that on the weekend. They put up a fight, but I thought we were outstanding on the afternoon. We could have gone ahead in the first half with Cliff seeing his chance saved, if that goes in it might have been a different game. But I can’t fault Adrian, I thought he had a great game coming back after two international appearances the

“We have two home games in a matter of days, and I want to win the both.” to go away from home and earn a point against a good Eastleigh side is a positive we can take forward to today’s game. really sharp during training this week and the belief within the group is there. We have two home games in a matter of days, and I want to win the both. I want to finish as I usually do by thanking the supporters. Those that travelled down last weekend I can’t thank you enough and I hope you felt our appreciation after the game. I really hope we can draw in a fantastic crowd this afternoon following the recent results. I know the crowd will be boosted today as we are welcoming along members of our fantastic Youth set-up, which is a huge part of our football club. We all want to drive this Club in the right direction and that starts from the Youth and goes right through to the FirstTeam. I hope our performance on the field today can raise the support inside the ground this afternoon, around the club and through the borough. Enjoy the game,

Bromley Belles
In June, the Bromley Belles travelled to Soissons in France to take part in the inaugural ‘Old Girls World Cup’. With over 200 women and 20 teams from across the world, sixteen Belles proudly represented both their club and country.
The number of women playing recreational football in England and Wales has significantly increased in the last couple of years with a number of new teams starting up, including the Bromley Belles. So it was an amazing opportunity for the Belles to take part in both the club tournament and the international festival – with many proudly representing their country. Both of the Belles teams played well and remained unbeaten in the team competition. In the World Cup after a closely fought competition the eventual winners were the USA who showed grit and determination to beat England 1-0 in the final. The event was a major success. It was an amazing opportunity for the ‘missed generation’ of women to be able to take part and play

football – some for the first time – with other like minded women. Over half of the Belles that went to the ‘Old Girls World Cup’ had only started playing less than six months earlier and this was their very first experience of competitive games. The BBC followed the story of the ‘Old Girls World Cup’ and this was aired on Monday 16th September. You can view and download it from the BBC IPlayer. If you are aged over 30 and would like to try football, make new friends and get fit why not pop along to our training. Sessions are free and no previous experience is needed. THE HUDDLE Words from the Captain, Jack Holland
Last weekend we travelled to Eastleigh, another one of the sides in this league we never seem to have too much luck against! But, we went there with high confidence.

“We want to keep the standards high and we have to do that today as Notts County come to town.”
I thought the boys put on a great performance and we were unlucky not to come away with all three points in my opinion. We wanted to start with an intent from the beginning, that was a big goal of ours. And I thought we did just that by taking the game to Eastleigh and putting them on the back foot. We had a lot of good chances, we worked the ball well as a team and caused Eastleigh a lot of problems.
have been worthy of the three points. However Eastleigh is a very, very hard place to go so to take a point back with us was a positive.

disappointed with the draw and that just shows how high we are setting the bar for ourselves at the moment. We want to keep the standards high and we have to do that today as Notts County come to town. They are certainly viewed as one of the bigger clubs in this league and that’s with good reason. They will bring a good travelling support and I have no doubts that it will be an exciting atmosphere inside the stadium today. Hopefully we can put on another good show of ourselves in what will be a huge game and keep the fantastic unbeaten run going. Thank you for your support,
Jack

Neal Ardley – Manager Neal spent the majority of his career with Wimbledon, making his debut for them on 20 April 1991 at the age of 18 in a 2–1 away win over Aston Villa. He then went on to make over 100 appearances for Watford before having spells at Cardiff City and Millwall. Ardley announced his retirement from professional football on 30 August 2007 after suffering a series of injuries. On the same day, Ardley announced that he would return to former club Cardiff City having been appointed manager of the Cardiff City Youth Academy. He was manager of AFC Wimbledon for a six year period from 10 October 2012 to 12 November 2018. He would then take over as manager of Notts County in November 2018. 15
Notts County Sam Slocombe Experienced goalkeeper Sam Slocombe was the third man through the door at Meadow Lane this season. He had been without a club since leaving Bristol Rovers at the end of last season and joined Notts with a history of winning promotions. Slocombe did that in consecutive seasons with Oxford United and Blackpool, after leaving his hometown club Scunthorpe United in 2015. Rovers snapped Slocombe up in July 2017 and he turned out 27 times in his first season at the Memorial Stadium, before joining Lincoln City on loan for the first half of the following campaign. Ross Fitzsimons Fitzsimons established himself as Notts’ number one for the first half of 2018-19 after sharing goalkeeping duties with Adam Collin during his opening season with the club. The 24-year-old came through Crystal Palace’s academy system before moving to Bolton Wanderers in 2016. Spells with Bishop’s Stortford, Braintree Town and Chelmsford City preceded a move to Meadow Lane in the summer of 2017 and he made 21 appearances in his first year with the Magpies. Matt Tootle Tootle is a product of Crewe Alexandra’s esteemed academy, spending 16 years at Gresty Road before leaving for Shrewsbury Town in 2015. The defender was twice a winner at Wembley with the Alex, beating Cheltenham Town 2-0 in the 2011-12 League Two play-off final and part of the side that defeated Southend United in the final of the EFL Trophy. After one season with the Shrews, he joined Notts and has become a fan favourite at Meadow Lane, winning the fans’ 2017-18 Player of the Season award. Damien McCrory McCrory impressed on trial at Notts this summer and did enough to earn a contract. He left Burton Albion following the expiration of his contract, bringing an end to his seven-year spell at the Pirelli Stadium, and ventured to Meadow Lane to build his fitness. He turned out in three pre-season friendlies for Notts and was rewarded with a contract ahead of the opening game of the campaign away at Eastleigh. The 29-year-old came through the ranks at Plymouth and had loan spells with Port Vale (twice) and Grimsby, before joining Dagenham and Redbrige in February 2010. McCrory made 86 appearances for the Daggers before heading to Burton, with a loan at Portsmouth for the first half of 2017-18 completing his CV. Ben Turner Turner was Notts’ first signing ahead of the 201920 season. The centre back has Premier League pedigree having played in England’s top flight with Cardiff City after winning the Championship with
the Bluebirds in 2012-13. He scored a dramatic equaliser in the 2012 League Cup final to earn Cardiff a penalty shootout against Liverpool, which they went on to lose. Turner started his career witth Coventry and has spent time with the likes of Burton Albion and Mansfield since his professional debut in 2006. Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain The younger brother of England international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain signed from Portsmouth in the summer of 2018. The full back played against Notts in the FA Cup in December 2017 during a loan at Oxford City and, despite being on the losing side, he impressed and made the switch to Meadow Lane ahead of the 2018-19 season. Oxlade-Chamberlain made his debut in the EFL Trophy in September 2018 and has since been a regular for the club’s Under 23s. Connell Rawlinson Rawlinson swapped Vale Park for Meadow Lane in August. The centre half had a year remaining on his contract in Staffordshire but reached an agreement with the Valiants to terminate it early, after making 36 appearances in his first season with them. Rawlinson, who began his career at Chester, has European experience under his belt, having played in Champions League qualifying matches for The New Saints (TNS) during his eight years in Welsh football. Dion Kelly-Evans The right back signed a contract with Notts this summer after a successful trial period. Kelly-Evans, who came through Coventry’s youth system, featured in all but one of the Magpies’ pre-season friendlies. He made his professional debut for the Sky Blues in May 2016 and spent a further two seasons in their senior squad, before joining Kettering Town and winnng the Evostik Premier Division Central. Zoumana Bakayogo Former Tranmere man Bakayogo was Neal Ardley’s second signing of the summer. The left back won promotion to League One with Rovers in 2018-19 but swapped Prenton Park for Meadow Lane ahead of the new campaign. Bakayogo’s professional bow came for Millwall in August 2006, who he spent two-and-a-half years with before joining Tranmere for the first time in January 2009. The full-back made 146 appearances for Rovers before departing in July 2013 and heading to Leicester, where he remained until January 2016 when he signed for Crewe. He spent two years in Cheshire and represented the Railwaymen 104 times in all competitions before returning to Tranmere last July. Bakayogo made 25 appearances in the Rovers defence last season and played an important role as they earned a second consecutive promotion.

Sam Graham Young defender Graham signed on loan from Premier League side Sheffield United. Graham is yet to make his Blades debut, however he has Football League experience from a spell on loan at Oldham last season. He made nine appearances for the Latics during the first half of 2018-19, before joining Australian side Central Coast Mariners for the remainder of the campaign. Graham made his senior debut during a loan spell with FC Halifax Town, who he represented seven times in the Vanarama National League as the 2017-18 campaign drew to a close. Pierce Bird Local boy Bird signed from Dunkirk in the summer of 2017 and made his debut in the EFL Trophy that November. The centre half, who is comfortable with the ball at his feet and has an excellent range of passing, earned his first league start for the Magpies in December 2018 following a loan at Grantham Town. He has also had temporary spells with Leek Town and Alfreton Town and has represented Northern Ireland’s Under 21s, who recorded a famous win in Spain in European Under 21 Championship qualifying. Richard Brindley The former Rotherham and Colchester full back signed for the Magpies as a free agent in September after making 34 appearances for Bromley last season. Brindley came through Norwich City’s academy but was released in 2012 and began to rebuild his career with Chelmsford in the Vanarama National League South. From there he joined Chesterfield in League Two, before stepping up a division with a move to Rotherham, where he was part of the side promoted to the Championship through the play-offs in 2014. He spent time on loan at Scunthorpe, Oxford United and Colchester ahead of a permanent switch to the U’s in June 2015. From there, Brindley spent a season with Barnet before heading to Bromley last September and becoming a permanent fixture in their defence during 2018-19. Declan Dunn Academy graduate Dunn signed his first professional deal in November 2018. The 18-yearold has been at Notts since Under 10s level and has shown his versatility as he progressed through the ranks, playing in midfield and defence. Dunn captains the Under 23s and made his first-team debut as an 82nd-minute substitute in the Emirates FA Cup clash at Barnsley in November 2018 – days before signing pro terms. He made his league debut and earned his first start for the club during the opening games of the 2019-20 season.
Notts County Owen Betts Central defender Betts signed a development contract ahead of the 2019-20 season. After impressing for the Under 18s and turning out regularly for the Under 23s during the 2018-19 campaign, the youngster showed enough promise to continue his stay at Meadow Lane. Tyreece Kennedy-Williams Youngster Kennedy-Williams made his senior debut in the group stage of the Checkatrade Trophy, playing 75 minutes against Newcastle United’s Under 21s in October 2018. The left back has been a regular for the Under 23s and, following the conclusion of his scholarship, was offered a development contact ahead of the 2019-20 season. Mitch Rose The midfielder joined from Grimsby in January 2019 as Neal Ardley reshaped his squad. He made 29 appearances for the Mariners during the first half of 2018-19 and scored against Notts in the Checkatrade Trophy. Rose made his senior debut at Rotherham and had stints at Crawley, Mansfield and Newport before joining Grimsby. Jim O’Brien O’Brien became Neal Ardley’s first permanent signing when he joined from Bradford City in January 2019. The experienced midfielder came through the ranks at Celtic and had spells with Dunfermline Athletic, Dundee United and Motherwell before moving south of the border with Barnsley. He spent four seasons at Oakwell ahead of a switch to Coventry, where he made 70 appearances. O’Brien had spells with Shrewsbury Town and Ross County before joining Bradford for the first half of 2018-19. And he committed himself to Notts for the rest of the campaign, citing Ardley’s keenness to sign him as a big factor in his decision, going on to sign a new contract in the summer. Michael Doyle The experienced midfielder won promotion from League Two in 2016-17 and 2017-18 before joining Notts in January 2019. Neal Ardley had been a long-term admirer of the Irishman and eventually got his man on deadline day. Doyle has amassed over 700 appearances during his 20-year career and represented Coventry (twice), Leeds, Sheffield United and Portsmouth before making the move to Meadow Lane. Regan Booty The playmaker joined Notts in August after leaving boyhood club Huddersfield. Booty had been with the Terriers since the age of eight and had been on the fringes of their first team prior to their promotion to the Premier League. He spent last season on loan at Aldershot, making 40
appearances, and joined Notts when his contract with Huddersfield expired. Booty registered assists in each of his first two matches for the Magpies, quickly showing why Neal Ardley was keen to bring him to Meadow Lane.
in his first spell with Notts and feels there is unfinished business with the club. Tyson has also represented sides such as Cheltenham, Blackpool, Doncaster and Kilmarnock on his way to racking up over 500 league appearances.
Tom Crawford Promising midfielder Crawford celebrated his 19th birthday in style when he signed from Chester FC. He impressed for the National League outfit and was rewarded with a place in England’s C side for a match against the Republic of Ireland in May. Crawford marked his Notts debut with a goal, scoring the opener when the Magpies visited Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup. He joined AFC Fylde on loan in January 2019 and was part of the side that won the FA Trophy at Wembley.
Enzio Boldewijn Notts paid a six-figure fee to bring the Dutchman to Meadow Lane ahead of the 2018-19 season, staving off interest from clubs higher up the pyramid. The former FC Utrecht winger emerged as one of League Two’s hottest talents during his time with Crawley Town, netting 10 goals and laying on a further 10 for his team-mates during 2017-18. He opened his account for the Magpies on just his second outing with a fantastic strike at Cambridge in August 2018 but was halted in his tracks by a knee injury sustained in November which kept him out until mid-January. Boldewijn hit his first goal following his return as he curled home the winner in a 2-1 victory at Forest Green in early February.
Samuel Osborne Academy graduate Osborne signed his first professional deal in October 2018. Born and bred in Nottingham, the winger was given his senior debut aged just 17 and made a further six appearances before being offered pro terms. Osborne looks to get at his man as often as possible and has featured in first-team squads during 2018-19 as well as being one of the standout players for the Under 23s. Wes Thomas Experienced striker Thomas joined the Magpies this summer after leaving Grimsby. He scored for the Mariners when Notts visited Blundell Park in December 2018 and Neal Ardley was impressed with the forward’s all-round game. Thomas has a host of clubs on his CV, including Birmingham City, Bournemouth, Cheltenham and Oxford. He made his professional debut in 2008 while at Dagenham and Redbridge and has made over 300 league appearances since. Kristian Dennis The striker joined from Chesterfield in the summer of 2018 after hitting 21 goals the previous season. Dennis was on the books at Stockport before his move to the Spireites and enjoyed a fruitful loan spell with Macclesfield in 2015-16, scoring 26 goals. Widely regarded as a ‘fox in the box’, the frontman’s arrival at Meadow Lane was warmly received by supporters of the Magpies. Dennis joined Grimsby on loan in January 2019 after struggling to match his goal return of the previous season during his opening months at Notts. After picking up an injury in pre-season, the striker started 2019-20 well, scoring on each of his first two appearances. Nathan Tyson Nathan returned to Meadow Lane in the summer of 2019 after a loan spell five years earlier. The striker, who has played for the likes of Forest, Derby and Wycombe, didn’t register a goal
17
Kyle Wootton The big striker signed on a season-long loan from Scunthorpe United in August. Wootton came through the youth system at Glanford Park and made his professional debut in August 2014, aged just 17. He made a further 13 appearances that season and scored his first senior goal in April 2015. Wootton has had loan spells with Cheltenham and Stevenage in League Two, and at Lincoln, North Ferriby and FC Halifax Town in the Vanarama National League. Remaye Campbell Young striker Campbell came through the academy system at Meadow Lane and made his senior debut as a substitute in a Carabao Cup tie at Middlesbrough in 2018. Formerly a central midfielder, the well-built forward was offered pro terms in September 2018. Campbell is a regular scorer for the Under 23s and hit four goals against Newport in a Premier League Cup victory in August 2018. Sean Shields The winger signed on a season-long loan from Ebbsfleet United, who he reached the National League play-offs with in 2018. He had been at Stonebridge Road since 2015, following two years playing in League Two with Dagenham and Redbridge, where he made his senior debut. Shields spent time in Tottenham’s academy as a youngster and has plenty of National League experience, featuring 72 times in the division across loan spells with Maidstone United and Boreham Wood as well as his stint at Ebbsfleet. He made 32 league appearances for the three clubs last season, scoring four, and turned out six times for the Fleet in 2019-20 ahead of his move to Meadow Lane.

Formed in 1862, Notts County are one of the oldest Clubs in Britain and lost their membership of the Football League last season when they ended the season in 23rd position in League Two and, as a consequence, were relegated to the National League. They were founder members of the Football League, and during their membership of 131 years, completed 4,986 League fixtures The last few years have seen the Club struggle both on the field and off, mainly due to poor management decisions behind the scenes, but a few days before the current season opened they were taken over by new owners. A Danish consortium led by brothers Christoffer and Alexander Reedtz have taken control to end
months of uncertainty – we wish them well in their endeavours. The season thus far has seen mixed results whilst they adjust to their new surrounds. Their opening game away to Eastleigh resulted in a narrow 1-0 defeat, which was followed by a 1-1 home draw against newly promoted, Stockport County. Barnet then won by the off goal in three in their next home fixture, whilst there first victory of the season came at Harrogate Town – 2-0. Next up was a 1-1 home draw against Wrexham and, over the Bank Holiday weekend, they drew away to Ebbsfleet United 2-2 and defeated Chorley at home by five goals to one. They ended August with a 3-1 defeat at Yeovil Town. 19
September commenced with a goalless home draw against Solihull Moors, and was quickly followed by a 1-1 draw at Gander Green Lane against neighbours, Sutton United. Last Saturday they entertained FC Halifax Town, where they continued their unbeaten run in September with a 1-0 victory, having played almost the second half with only ten men after Michael Doyle was sent off in the 47th minute. They currently stand in thirteenth position in the League table with fourteen points having scored fifteen goals and conceded twelve. The return fixture is, at the moment, scheduled for 4th January 2020 with a 3.00 pm kick off, although this would be subject to TV demands or progression in the FA Cup for either side.

Bromley Belles
In June, the Bromley Belles travelled to Soissons in France to take part in the inaugural ‘Old Girls World Cup’. With over 200 women and 20 teams from across the world, sixteen Belles proudly represented both their club and country. football – some for the first time – with other like minded women. Over half of the Belles that went to the ‘Old Girls World Cup’ had only started playing less than six months earlier and this was their very first experience of competitive games.
The event was a major success. It was an amazing opportunity for the ‘missed generation’ of women to be able to take part and play 23

LOAN WATCH & U23 UPDATE
A DELVE INTO THE HISTORY BOOKS Words by John Self
Today’s article takes us back thirty six years to Christmas Eve 1982, when Bromley entertained Aylesbury United for a 3rd Qualifying Round FA Trophy tie.
The Club continue to cast a beady eye over how its U23 and Academy players are getting on in their respective loan and dual registration spells. Anthony Dwyer and Billy Craske both played and impressed yet again for Glebe on Saturday, with the former scoring the second goal in a 3-0 win for our Chislehurst based neighbours. Klaudio Krasniqi, Alex Brefo and Shaike Kamara played in Lordswood’s 1-0 defeat to Sheppey United, whilst Bryan Akongo featured in Farnborough’s 1-0 loss to Blackfield & Langley. Meanwhile, the Bromley U23’s recorded a 3-1 victory over Corinthian under the lights at Hayes Lane last Friday, with stunning strikes from Brandon Chambers, Ollie Tanner and Jaedon Phillips sealing the win, despite the Ravens falling behind with just four minutes on the clock. 26
It was the very first meeting between the two Clubs and, following two postponements due to waterlogged pitches, both Clubs agreed to play the tie on Christmas Eve as neither Club had a fixture on that day.
time, Brian Frampton was involved in an unnecessary argument that saw visiting John Davie put Aylesbury ahead following Heeley’s indirect free kick from inside the Bromley penalty area.
At the time Bromley were playing their football in the Premier Division of the Servowarm Isthmian League – albeit in the lower regions – whilst Aylesbury were mid-table in the Southern league Midland Division.
Throughout the second half the home side continued to create, and miss, several goal scoring opportunities and, with eight minutes remaining, their afternoon of woe was complete when Phil Barker brushed aside Brookman’s challenge to head home at the far post Heeley’s cross from the right.
Bromley’s inability to make the most of their scoring chances was again to cost them dear. In front of their biggest crowd of the season – approaching 400 – they were ushered out of the FA Trophy after failing to consolidate an early lead.
Team: Guy, Brookman, Frampton, Penfold, Taylor, Collins, Powell, Tomlin, Dennis, Booth, Young (Dixon, 76) Bromley have, of course, played Aylesbury United on several occasions following their election to the Isthmian League. The last time the two Club’s met was for an FA Cup tie in October 2007 but sadly, following financial problems and the loss of their Buckingham Road ground, they suffered several seasons competing in Step 5 of the Pyramid before subsequently regaining their Southern League status a few seasons ago, where they have remained to date.
Steve Tomlin opened the scoring in the fourth minute – his first senior goal since returning from a lengthy injury – when he capitalised on a faulty back pass by Aylesbury’s Andy Dockery. The lead lasted just two minutes as an interception left defender, Micky Brookman, stranded deep in Aylesbury territory, and the Southern Leaguers broke quickly and incisively for former Arsenal forward Mark Heeley to beat goalkeeper, Dickie Guy, to his left to level the scores.
During this time they have ground shared at a number of Clubs, but have high hopes of returning to Buckingham Road in the not too distant future.
Bromley frittered away numerous chances to regain the lead. Then, almost on half 27
