CULINAR Design Challenge: The brand desired an elegant look to represent their Romanian origins and convey a trustworthy product, as individuals rely heavily on their knives more than any other cooking tool. The company wanted to express these ideals through their visual impact rather than advertising or text. Design Solution: The design features elements from Romanian textiles to incorporate the company’s origins. The color scheme is deep red, silver, and black to show case the elegance of the knives. The Knives are the focal point of the design, highlighted by simple packaging with intricate elements.

TAP THAT Design Challenge: The object of this campaign was to promote tap water in a dynamic and interesting way without making being clichÊ or gaudy. One of the most difficult challenges of the campaign was determining how to convey the notion of tap water being the better alternative to bottled water. The target audience was adults. Design Solution: The solution for this campaign was to present tap water in a sexy and intriguing way. This was achieved through sexual innuendos that provide an interesting twist on otherwise dry content. A very limited color pallet was used to attract the viewers’ eye to key points and draw them to the content.

101 RECIPES Design Challenge: To create a poster and type specimen book to showcase typefaces. The two pieces require a cohesive and interesting theme to connect them. These items would typically be found in a magazine or mailed directly to the consumer to encourage downloading. One of the main challenges is to show off the versatility of these typefaces without having the content be too overbearing or distracting. Design Solution: A circus theme was used to connect the book to the poster and inspired a limited pallet. Two shades of red were used to help bring the content to life in a subtle way. The poster was designed to fold into an 8 x 10 inch magazine. The lines created when the poster is folded were used as the grid.

FERMENTED Design Challenge: Fermented Brewing Company is a brewery that crafts Weiss beers from organic ingredients. They aimed to highlight their unique brand in a way that promotes their natural products and distinguishes them from their competition. Design solution: A unique natural inspired color pallet was used, rather than one typically expected for a brewery. Wheat, their main ingredient, was used as inspiration for the background pattern. The logo was inspired by old breweries, but was blended with a modern feel.

NATURALLY NUTS Design Challenge: This packaging aimed to convey a natural, honest look, making it worthy of its premium price. The goal was to gain people’s attention and draw them to the product. Design Solution: The packaging accomplished this by using a natural, contrasting color scheme of green, white, and dark brown. Simple illustrations representing the main ingredient enable customers to tell at a glance what the product is. Friendly typefaces were used to make the product feel trust worthy.






BLOWING EXPECTATIONS Design Challenge: Blowing Expectations, is a television show about a woman who works as a doctor until cracks under the pressure and is fired. She discovers glass blowing through a new friend and decides to take it on as her new career. However, she has a fatal flaw and seems to mess things up in every episode. The brand elements of the show aimed to represent the counter culture of the show. Design Solution: To create the feeling of disjointedness and convey the powerful culture, message and style of the show, a unique cut out style was used on the elements to keep the show branded. The colors are dark and almost intimidating to represent the turmoil the character is facing in her life. Instead of using images of the characters, they are represented by objects that reflect their lifestyle.

WAKE UP RIGHT! Design Challenge: Wake up Right! is an app designed to help people wake up easier and enjoy their mornings more. It offers customizable alarms and recommends breakfast from local shops as well as tells the user the weather in the morning to help them plan their day and start it right! Design Solution: This was achieved by mixing retro elements with more modern clean background. Design of the app is simple and clean so to minimize distraction and highlight the content on the screen. Blue and white are the main colors in this app with pops of purple to add visual interest.

LAND MARKITECT Design Challenge: Land Markitect is an app for children ages 7 and under who are looking to explore their creative side while learning about geometry and landmarks around the world. The purpose of the app is to provide educational content disguised through entertainment. Design Solution: Flat style illustrations with subtle colors were used in the background of the screens with outlined vivid colors in the foreground to create depth and help the child know what parts of the app to focus on. Blues, browns, and greens were used as the main colors for the app. Simple shapes were used to represent the landmarks to help children identify shapes they see in their everyday life.
