The design for Reve began with a geometric abstraction of a tree. The cascading trapezoids along with inspiration from the famous Farnsworth House by Mies Van der Rohe drove the design process. The two ideas morphed to create Reve, which is French for dream. This sleek, modern design terraces off rolling hills and uses the international style of a glass house, with a massive window enveloping almost the entire front of each separate building. Reve is surrounded by the trees and mountains, mixing both modernism and nature. The design is very clean with an ample amount of glass on the buildings and the glass staircases leading to each floor, allowing for maximum natural light. Reve's beautiful appearance makes for a bold impact while still incorporating an inviting and distinctive environment.

FIRE
STATION
70
Fire Station 70 is a new commercial build with historical precedent located in Salt Lake City, UT near Trolley Square. The design intent, developed through extensive research and interviews, was to create a fire station that had everything firefighters would need and want. I chose to develop the design through the use of historical precedent due to my fascination with the architecture of the world’s old fire stations and I knew I wanted it to play off of the buildings surrounding Trolley Square in Salt Lake City, UT. I loved the idea of a historic outside with a more modern inside while still incorporating that “old-time feel” through the use of materials, objects and finishes. Fire Station 70 not only satisfies the practical needs of the firefighters housed there, but also shows their rich history as firefighters and compliments them in the most beautiful way.

THE
HOOLEY
PROJECT
This is a residential project that I did for my in-laws for their newly constructed house in Smithfield, UT. For this project I re-drew some house plans and, while continually having client meetings and discussing budget, I then designed the entire interior to the clients satisfaction by bringing some beautiful and lively pieces to their new home.

SWEDEN
REFUGEE
CENTER
Since 2014 the minority government in Sweden has been faced with managing a migrant crisis that sharply impacts public opinion. Refugees have come to Sweden from South America and the Middle East, hoping to escape their warring home countries. The number of refugees poses a problem as economic and social issues surface. The crisis also focuses on how best to integrate migrants from different countries into the Swedish workforce and society. Research into the current refugee situation in Sweden has revealed many of the needs that this population faces. This design proposes a structure incorporating shipping containers as a shelving system that will provide housing units for refugees. Shipping containers are in excess, often sitting unused in shipyards around the world. These containers are relatively inexpensive to renovate into living quarters. By creating a permanent structure and using remodeled shipping containers to crane up and slide into the slots in the building, this design solves an economic issue, as this method is less expensive than other housing options. Insulation/heating can be an issue with retrofitted shipping containers, but is avoided in this shelving framework. If refugees are granted residency, the hope is that they can “take their home with them” and the empty slot in the building is replaced with another shipping container “home”. This permanent structure also allows the main floor to contain multiple classrooms, medical rooms, therapist offices, etc. to provide for the social needs of these refugees, helping them integrate into Sweden’s culture. This unique design solution will benefit Sweden economically and provide a sanctuary and a home to refugees who have fought so hard to find one.

WAYFINDING
MODERN
FARMHOUSE
The design for this sleek farmhouse, located in Waco, Texas, came from my love of minimalism and the stark contrast between black and white. The Modern Farmhouse is perfect for a couple that loves that classic farmhouse feel with some re-vamped splashes of modernism. The outdoor deck, which can be reached from either side of the two-story sections of this unique house, is the perfect spot for entertaining family and friends or to simply relax while watching a beautiful Texas sunset. Step inside, and fall in love with all of the details of the Modern Farmhouse.

SHEILA
BRIDGES
VISITING
DESIGNER
I had the opportunity to work with the famous interior designer Sheila Bridges to design her third home, located in the breathtaking Hudson Valley. This urban farmhouse is an escape from the hustle and bustle of New York City; a country side get away where Sheila can retreat and decompress while enjoying the farmers market or art galleries around her beautiful home in Livingston, NY. This project was so fun because it forced me to design in a style that is not typically my own. It pushed boundaries and gave Sheila something she loved and that captured her.

TIMBER
LODGE
The design for Timber Lodge began with looking at and sketching mountains and then abstracting them to create the unique shape of the lodge. Located in Telluride, Colorado, I wanted this lodge to mimic the scenery/mountains that surround it. The Timber Lodge is a high-end, luxury get-away for individuals who love the outdoors and the exquisite beauty that is Telluride.
