FOURTEEN (THE JOURNEY) by Amy Del Cid

The sound of the lake is not too far, From where all of the children are. The sky bleeds bright blue with white, It will soon turn black at night. The chirping birds fly with fear, For the radiating sun holds no mercy here. Despite the welcoming arms of the trees, The loud and harsh crunch of dead leaves Show that there is nothing left to lose - One must stay or go, just choose.
