NOVEMBER 2020

#BrookwoodStrong As we enter the month of November, we have much to be Thankful for! During these difficult times, our District and school community has pulled together to ensure all students are engaged in learning. Although, school looks differently than it has in the past, we remain committed to providing your child with qualitative feedback that is essential for their growth. We appreciate all of our parents and families for supporting their child through remote learning. We are all stronger when we are working together. As November marks the start of Quarter 2, with the continuation of our [Remote Learning Plan], we will strive to learn new ways to provide engaging and meaningful lessons for our students. On November 2nd, from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., we will be holding [Parent Teacher Conferences] remotely. If you have not signed up for a conference time, please contact your child’s teachers. It is important to stay connected and it is a great opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and discuss their strengths and areas for improvement. If your child needs an electronic device, or if you have any questions or concerns, I can be reached at the school number (708) 758-5252, by email jlarson@brookwood167.org or by cell phone, (708) 362-0115.

We share the accountability of student achievement throughout the school. We believe in using researchbased practices to achieve our goals. We promote school and community involvement because we believe that these partnerships help us meet the needs of all of our students.

Brookwood School District 167, in partnership with parents and community, will create a learning environment in which all students excel at becoming lifelong learners and decision makers.

We Believe... Families shape their children’s motivation, confidence, and academic success by being interested and involved in their overall development. All students are unique and should be challenged to the highest level of academic and artistic excellence.

We are committed to: • providing students with highly qualified teachers • providing our staff with professional development

In the importance of staff development opportunities based on best practices and educational research. In educating our children in a safe and nurturing environment with access to state of the art technology. The school system should teach students to think critically enabling them to become contributing citizens in our global society. In continuous improvement in all aspects of the school system to foster a culture of excellence, accountability and integrity. In responsible stewardship of financial and physical resources.

Families And Schools | Perfect Partners Child Absence(?) Parents did you know that if your child is absent, you can request a recorded version of their teacher’s lesson? We want to keep students on track, and this is a great way for ensuring students don’t fall behind if they miss a class. You can also request a recorded lesson if your child is struggling and they need to see the lesson again. Please reach out to your child’s teachers and take advan-

STUDENT ENGAGEMENT & ACADEMIC INCENTIVE PROGRAM We celebrated our student engagement and academic growth for remote learning on Tuesday, October 20th, 2020. Students earned points for being [Safe, Respectful and Responsible] during online learning. BJHS set up stations in front of our school building. Our staff excitedly waited as parents and students drove up in their cars or came on foot to claim their prizes! Our goal is to maintain a sense of togetherness and positive connections within the school community during our remote learning. We will continue our incentive program for each quarter this school year.
