APRIL 2021

HAPPY SPRING!!!! We are welcoming the month of April with open arms. With April entering, it is hope for some rain to nurture our ground and plants to help them flower with beautiful foliage, thus giving us the scenery of Spring. Well we are nurturing our students through two different models still the best that we can. We are watering them with love and true understanding. This month BMS will have a focused theme around poetry. We will host a “Poetry Jam” at the end of the month and hope you all will join us to see the fruit (talent) blossoming from our students. As we finish our last quarter of this school year, I ask that you continue to encourage your students whether they are in-person or remained remote. We understand that this has been a tough road and none of us thought it would last this long, however without our wonderful parents we would not have been able to make it this far. I thank you for your open communication and responsiveness. f

THANK YOU PARENTS & STUDENTS!!! On behalf of BMS staff and administrators, we would like to sincerely thank our parents and students for their support and efforts as we took on the challenge of bringing our students back into the building for in-person instruction. The safety of our students and staff will continue to be the top priority for our school and District, and we thank you for the trust. Our students have modeled what it means to be responsible, respectful and safe. Students, both remote and in-person just received PBIS incentives reflecting these efforts. Our 3rd quarter PBIS redemption was a success and students received incentives from gift cards and puzzle games to rubik’s cubes and slime. We are looking forward to 100% redemptions for next quarter.

Here’s how to ensure your child earns the highest Tier level of prizes (Gift Card): • Students must be in attendance for over 90% of our scheduled days and students must be receiving a C or higher in all of their classes. However, if students have earned points for being responsible, respectful and safe, they can still redeem items from the other Tier levels or rollover their points. • At the end of the 4th quarter we will have our last redemption of the year so points will not rollover. Since adopting the two-part verification and validation process, we have seen an increase in student attendance and achievement. Parents, we are striving for 100% redemption. Teamwork makes the dream work!

TOGETHER WE WILL REMAIN #BROOKWOODSTRONG! R. Mitchell | Assistant Principal

OUR

MR. CHINN &

TEACHERS!

MR. BRANDT / P.E.

Mr.Brandt-P.E.: A HUGE welcome back to all of our in-person learners!! In order to efficiently accommodate both inperson and remote learners, Mr. Brandt and Mr. Chinn will be rotating teaching duties. One day Mr. Brandt will teach remote, while Mr. Chinn has in-person. The following day, they will switch. Additionally, the in-person students are finding it is much more difficult to exercise with the masks on. We are accommodating this by lowering the number of sets and allowing more rest time in between exercises. We are asking that all in-person students come to class with a water bottle, as the fountains are shut down for the time being. However, students are able to fill bottles here. We are excited to begin the home stretch of the 2020-21 school year!! f
