Apprenticeship Program Chicagoland Roofers JATC (Spanish/English) Presenter(s): Mr. Martin Headtke, Chicagoland Roofers JATC Audience: Parents and Guardians Room: 122 Earn while you learn! Our Apprenticeship Program lets you earn money while you learn the trade of roofing and waterproofing. Currently, our starting rate is $19.04 per hour plus annual pay raises and Union benefits. This session will be in English and in Spanish.

Protecting Your Identity (Spanish) Presenter(s): Ms. Samantha Alonso, Office of the Comptroller Audience: Parents and Guardians Room: 123 In this presentation, you will learn how to identify potential scams/fraud, protect yourself against identity theft, and address some concerns about being a victim of identity theft. Understand the importance of securing your personal information. This session will be in Spanish.

Presenter(s): Ms. Okeycha Pettigrew, District 205 Audience: Parents, Teachers, School Administrators Room: 124 This presentation discusses enhancing the development of cognitive, social emotional learning and behavior, and fine and gross motor skills through the usage of stem/steam (science technology engineering and math).

A.L.I.C.E. Talks About Safety Presenter(s): Mr. Paul Adams, District 205 Audience: Parents, Teachers, School Administrators Room: 125 Come and learn about the District 205’s transition in becoming an ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate) certified school district. Although school shootings are rare, having a thorough plan is necessary. ALICE addresses those forsaken minutes when our children and staff are waiting for help to arrive during an armed intruder event. ALICE strategies (age and ability appropriate) help to make better use of this precious time in order to better protect and save lives. We will provide a short presentation explaining; shift in philosophy, updates in Illinois Law (armed intruders safety drills), district wide safety training (held last teacher institute day), and future training with students. Following these topics, we encourage our parents to engage in a Q&A session to discuss any potential concerns.

Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Program Presenter(s): AVID Coordinators, District 205 Audience: Parents, Teachers, School Administrators Room: 127 AVID is a 4-year college readiness program which begins in the freshman year. It is dedicated to helping students to be better prepared for college acceptance. Learn more about AVID’s mission & curriculum while celebrating ways that AVID will aid students’ success.

They will be given strategies that help to cultivate resiliency.

(FCEA) Audience: Parents and Guardians Room: 139 In this workshop, students will learn what steps they should complete after submitting their FAFSA Application such as waiting for the Student Aid Report (SAR), reading and responding to award letters, enrolling into learning communities for first year students.
