HICKORY BEND FAMILIES, INTEGRITY AND FAIRNESS PRINCIPAL’S CORNER

April showers bring May flowers…and a continued partnership between home and school can bring our students to their next most significant level in all areas of their life! As we enter the last quarter of the school year, I look forward to continuing the partnership with our families to keep our students on track to earn their success. Let’s continue to “shower” our students with positive focus, confidence, integrity, fairness, kindness, perseverance, and a growth mindset. Soon they will blossom into community leaders, business owners, medical professionals, and all manner of hard-working, productive citizens of our world. Our All-Stars will be the “flowers” that make our world great.

MRS. WESTERFIELD, CHOIR DIRECTOR

The Hickory Bend Sensational Singers went on the road! We performed at a Chicago Wolves Hockey Game on Sunday, March 12th. The choir sang with other choirs in the Chicagoland area. Following our performance, we enjoyed watching the hockey game, hanging out with our choir friends and our larger choir family, and eating a lot of fun food!

Thank you to our awesome parent chaperones and staff for helping to make this a successful trip! This exceptional group included: Ms. Dubose, Ms. Harry, Ms. Roper, Ms. Garcia, Mr. Gavin, Ms. Howard, Ms. Nevels, and Ms. Reynolds. Great job!

The choir performed well and represented our choir, school District, and community well!

Attendance/Absences/Tardies

To ensure that our students excel academically, they must attend school daily and be on time. When students are tardy, they miss valuable instruction, primarily in reading and language arts. Attendance will be tied into our school’s PBIS expectations in which students will be able to earn rewards and participate in fun activities.

When your child has to be absent, please inform the front office. Our absentee number is 708-757-2120.
