My passion is to heal those who have been diagnosed with breast cancer to recover their inward as well as their outward appearance. My background is in Retail with ten years’ experience in Management working for Victoria Secret and Nordstrom as a Bra Specialist Fitter. It was an amazing experience working with clients who had Mastectomy and understanding their needs. It was a delightful feeling when they walked out of my presence feeling great with smiles after the tears and embarrassment. I also worked for New York Presbyterian Hospital in the Breast Clinic. I wanted to bring sunshine to their faces. I have had close family and friends who have passed away from Breast Cancer. DMochelle Fashions Means; A beautiful women with her reputation as great beauty and the combination of qualities that make something’s pleasing and impressive to look at, listen to and great smiles. This clothing line is especially designed for women, who have had a mastectomy with the regards to the method of cosmetics, to enhance their lives. By the end of 2012, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer at Stage 0. I am thankful to God I had an early mammogram and caught the cancer at its earliest stage. The type of treatment I received was surgery was two lymph nodes were removed and tissue removed from the left breast. Along with that I received radiation treatments. As of January 2018, I am Breast Cancer Free and giving thanks to my lord and Savior, Jesus Christ I am healed. “Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he [was] wounded for our transgressions, [he was] bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace [was] upon him; and with his stripes we are healed." Word of the Month: Drug Treatments: Anastrozole Brand Name: Arimidex速

Anastrozole is a breast cancer medication. Given alone or in combination with other treatments, such as surgery or radiation, anastrozole is used to treat early-stage breast cancer in postmenopausal women. This medication may also be given to postmenopausal women as a first treatment for breast cancer that has spread either within the breast or elsewhere in the body. It may also be a treatment option for women whose breast cancer has progressed after treatment with tamoxifen. Less commonly, anastrozole may be used to prevent breast cancer in women who are at high risk of developing this disease. Anastrozole is a nonsteroidal aromatase inhibitor. It works by blocking aromatase, an enzyme that causes increased levels of estrogen in postmenopausal women. As a result, estrogen levels in the body are decreased, and the growth of cancer cells that rely on estrogen is either stopped or slowed.

Capecitabine Brand Name: Xeloda速

Capecitabine is used to treat breast cancer and colorectal cancer. More specifically, capecitabine is used to treat breast cancer that has recurred after other prior treatments. It is also used to treat breast cancer that has not improved with other treatments. Additionally, it is used to treat colorectal cancer that has worsened or spread to other parts of the body, and to prevent spreading after surgical removal of a tumor. Capecitabine is an antimetabolite. A chemotherapy drug, this medication stops or slows the growth of cancer cells. Antimetabolites are chemicals that closely resemble substances within normal cells. When cancer cells absorb an antimetabolite, they cannot divide, and are unable to survive.

Denosumab Brand Names: Prolia速, Xgeva速

Denosumab is used in the treatment of prostate cancer and breast cancer, and in the treatment of bone metastases from solid tumors. Outside of cancer, this drug is used to treat postmenopausal women with osteoporosis at high risk of fracture. Denosumab is a monoclonal antibody. Specifically, this drug works by binding to a protein called RANKL, which is involved in the growth and survival of osteoclasts, cells that disintegrate bone, a process known as bone resorption. By binding to RANKL, denosumab stops osteoclasts from forming. In prostate and breast cancer, denosumab may delay bone metastases. For solid tumors that have metastasized to the bone, denosumab may help prevent fractures.

Origins of the Pink Ribbon These days’ ribbons are worn for many different causes. Red signifies AIDS awareness. A yellow ribbon has long represented support for armed forces. However, one of the most prominent ribbon colors is pink, which aims to raise awareness of and support for breast cancer. Pink is a color that is uniquely feminine, and it also represents a person full of health and vibrancy; think of little babies pink with life. Pink is also a color that seems the complete antithesis of cancer, and thusly inspires hope for renewed health and survival. There is some controversy surrounding the origins of the breast cancer mascot... the pink ribbon. There are also suggestions that the ribbon was intended to be peach and not pink.

In 1992, just about every organization started using ribbons to raise awareness. The New York Times actually dubbed 1992 "The Year of the Ribbon." Alexandra Penney, the then-editor of Self magazine, wanted to create a ribbon for the publication's second annual Breast Cancer Awareness Month issue. The previous year she had worked with cosmetics giant Estee Lauder. Evelyn Lauder, the senior corporate vice president, was herself a breast cancer survivor. Penney thought a collaboration between the magazine and Lauder could see a ribbon on cosmetic counters across the nation, and help sell a few magazines in the process.

The trouble was Penney had read a story about a 68-year-old woman, Charlotte Haley, who was producing handmade ribbons in her home. Haley had a number of people in her immediate family who had battled breast cancer and her handmade "peach" ribbons intended to raise awareness about the limited government funds being used for breast cancer research. Haley's message was spreading by word of mouth. Penney and Lauder contacted Haley and wanted to further collaborate on the peach ribbon theme. However, Haley didn't want to be involved, saying the effort would be too commercial. She refused to turn over rights to the use of the peach ribbon. As a result, Penney consulted with attorneys who said to come up with another color, and pink was eventually chosen. Pink had already been associated with breast cancer in the past. Just a few years earlier, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation had given out pink visors to its "Race for the Cure" participants. It had also created a pink ribbon. The pink ribbon quickly took off by leaps and bounds. Millions were distributed by Estee Lauder. There are many philanthropic and commercial businesses who now use the pink ribbon in their breast cancer marketing plans. Every October, women are urged to don pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. One can find the pink ribbon adorning everything from cereal boxes to cans of cleanser. Many embrace the pink ribbon as a symbol of hope, one that has done its share of work toward spreading the word about the need for more breast cancer awareness and research. Breast Cancer Symptoms Symptoms of breast cancer vary from person to person. Some common breast cancer signs and symptoms include: Skin changes, such as swelling, redness, or other visible differences in one or both breasts An increase in size or change in shape of the breast(s) Changes in the appearance of one or both nipples Nipple discharge other than breast milk General pain in/on any part of the breast Lumps or nodes felt on or inside of the breast Symptoms more specific to invasive breast cancer are as follows: Irritated or itchy breasts Change in breast color Increase in breast size or shape (over a short period of time) Changes in touch (may feel hard, tender or warm) Peeling or flaking of the nipple skin A breast lump or thickening Redness or pitting of the breast skin (like the skin of an orange)

Types of breast cancer Breast cancer occurs in two broad categories: invasive and noninvasive. Invasive (infiltrating) breast cancer: Cancerous cells break through normal breast tissue barriers and spread to other parts of the body through the bloodstream and lymph nodes. Noninvasive (in situ) breast cancer: Cancerous cells remain in a particular location of the breast, without spreading to surrounding tissue, lobules or ducts. Breast cancer is also classified based on where in the breast the disease started (e.g., milk ducts, lobules), how the disease grows and other factors. The tabs on the left provide an overview of common breast cancer types, common subtypes and rare types. Other types of breast cancer include sarcoma of the breast, metaplastic carcinoma, adenocystic carcinoma, phyllodes tumor and angiosarcoma.

Breast Cancer Risk Factors GENERAL Aging: On average, women over 60 are more likely to be diagnosed with breast cancer. Only about 10 – 15 percent of breast cancers occur in women younger than 45. However, this may vary for different races or ethnicities. Gender: Although nearly 2,000 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer each year, breast cancer is 100 times more common in women. The National Cancer Institute estimates that over 190,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer annually.

GENETICS Family history: Having a family history of breast cancer, particularly women with a mother, sister or daughter who has or had breast cancer, may double the risk. Inherited factors: Some inherited genetic mutations may increase your breast cancer risks. Mutations in the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes are the most common inherited causes. Other rare mutations may also make some women more susceptible to developing breast cancer. Gene testing reveals the presence of potential genetic problems, particularly in families that have a history of breast cancer. Read about Angelina Jolie's decision based on her BRCA1 test.

BODY Obesity: After menopause, fat tissue may contribute to increases in estrogen levels, and high levels of estrogen may increase the risk of breast cancer. Weight gain during adulthood and excess body fat around the waist may also play a role. Not having children: Women who have had no children, or who were pregnant later in life (over age 35) may have a greater chance of developing breast cancer. Breast-feeding may help to lower your breast cancer risks. High breast density: Women with less fatty tissue and more glandular and fibrous tissue may be at higher risk for developing breast cancer than women with less dense breasts. Certain breast changes: Certain benign (noncancerous) breast conditions may increase breast cancer risk. Menstrual history: Women who start menstruation at an early age (before age 12) and/or menopause at an older age (after age 55) have a slightly higher risk of breast cancer. The increase in risk may be due to a longer lifetime exposure to the hormones estrogen and progesterone.

LIFESTYLE A sedentary lifestyle: Physical activity in the form of regular exercise for four to seven hours a week may help to reduce breast cancer risk. Heavy drinking: The use of alcohol is linked to an increased risk of developing breast cancer. The risk increases with the amount of alcohol consumed. PREVIOUS TREATMENTS Birth control pills: Using oral contraceptives within the past 10 years may slightly increase the risk of developing breast cancer. The risk decreases over time once the pills are stopped. Combined post-menopausal hormone therapy (PHT): Using combined hormone therapy after menopause increases the risk of developing breast cancer. Combined HT also increases the likelihood that the cancer may be found at a more advanced stage. Diethylstilbestrol exposure (DES): Previous use of DES, a drug commonly given to pregnant women from 1940 to 1971 to prevent miscarriage, may slightly increase the risk of developing breast cancer. Women whose mothers took DES during pregnancy may also have a slightly higher risk of breast cancer. Radiation exposure: Women who, as children or young adults, had radiation therapy to the chest area as treatment for another cancer have a significantly increased risk for breast cancer.

Stage 0 Breast Cancer Stage 0, also called carcinoma in situ, is the earliest stage of breast cancer. This very early breast cancer stage is sometimes interpreted as a precancerous condition. Many stage 0 breast cancers do not require treatment. When they do, the approach is generally very successful. The five-year survival rate for stage 0 breast cancer is 93 percent. This means that almost all women diagnosed with stage 0 disease will live for at least five years after being diagnosed. In fact, women diagnosed with stage 0 breast cancer usually live long and healthy lives. What is stage 0 breast cancer? At stage 0, the breast mass is noninvasive. At this stage, there is no indication that the tumor cells have spread to other parts of the breast or other parts of the body. Often, stage 0 is considered a precancerous condition that requires close observation, but not treatment. Stage 0 breast cancer is difficult to detect. There may not be a lump that can be felt during a self-examination, and there may be no other symptoms. However, breast self-exams and routine screening are always important and can often lead to early diagnosis, when the cancer is most treatable. Stage 0 disease is most often found by accident during a breast biopsy for another reason, such as to investigate an unrelated breast lump. Types of stage 0 breast cancer There are two types of stage 0 breast cancer: Ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) occurs when breast cancer cells develop in the breast ducts. Today, stage 0 DCIS is being diagnosed more often because more women are having routine mammogram screenings. DCIS can become invasive, so early treatment can be important. Lobular carcinoma in situ (LCIS) occurs when abnormal cells develop in the lobules. These cells are not cancerous and this condition rarely becomes invasive cancer. However, women who develop LCIS may be at increased risk for developing breast cancer in the future. For women who develop LCIS, the risk of getting an invasive cancer is 20 - 25 percent over 15 years after the initial diagnosis. 15

Stage I Breast Cancer Stage I breast cancer is the earliest stage of invasive breast cancer. At this stage, the cancer cells have spread beyond the original location and into the surrounding breast tissue. Because a stage I tumor is small, it may be difficult to detect. However, breast self-exams and routine screening are always important and can often lead to early diagnosis, when the cancer is most treatable.

Types of stage I breast cancer Stage I is divided into two categories: Stage IA: The tumor measures 2 cm or smaller (about the size of a pea or shelled peanut), and has not spread outside the breast. Stage IB: Small clusters of cancer cells measuring no more than 2 mm, are found in the lymph nodes, and either there is no tumor inside the breast, or the tumor is small, measuring 2 cm or less. The survival rate for stage IA breast cancer may be slightly higher than for stage IB. However, all women with stage I breast cancer are considered to have a good prognosis. TNM At stage I, TNM designations help describe the extent of the disease. For example, there may or may not be cancer cells in the lymph nodes, and the size of the tumor may range from 1 - 2 cm. Most commonly, stage I breast cancer is described as:

T: T1, T2, T3 or T4, depending on the size and/or extent of the primary tumor. N0: Usually, cancer has not spread to the lymph nodes M0: The disease has not spread to other sites in the body

Stage II Breast Cancer Stage II breast cancer indicates a slightly more advanced form of breast cancer. At this stage, the cancer cells have spread beyond the original location and into the surrounding breast tissue, and the tumor is larger than in stage I disease. However, stage II means the cancer has not spread to a distant part of the body. At stage II, a tumor may be detected during a breast self-exam as a hard lump within the breast. Breast self-exams and routine screening are always important and can often lead to early diagnosis, when the cancer is most treatable.

Types of stage II breast cancer Stage II is divided into two categories: At stage IIA, one of the following is true: There is no tumor within the breast but cancer has spread to the axillary (underarm) lymph nodes, or The tumor in the breast is 2 cm or smaller and cancer has spread to the axillary lymph nodes, or The tumor in the breast measures 2 - 5 cm but cancer has not spread to the axillary lymph nodes At stage IIB, one of the following is true: The tumor measures 2 - 5 cm and cancer has spread to the axillary lymph nodes, or The tumor is larger than 5 cm but cancer has not spread to the axillary lymph nodes The survival rate for stage IIA breast cancer may be slightly higher than for stage IIB. However, all women with stage II breast cancer are considered to have a good prognosis. TNM At stage II, TNM designations help describe the extent of the disease. Most commonly, stage II breast cancer is described as: T: T1, T2, T3 or T4, depending on the size and/or extent of the primary tumor. N1: Cancer has spread to the lymph nodes M0: The disease has not spread to other sites in the body

Stage III Breast Cancer Stage III breast cancer is a more advanced form of invasive breast cancer. At this stage, the cancer cells have usually not spread to more distant sites in the body, but they are present in several axillary (underarm) lymph nodes. The tumor may also be quite large at this stage, possibly extending to the chest wall or the skin of the breast. Types of stage III breast cancer Stage III breast cancer is divided into three categories: In stage IIIA breast cancer, one of the following is true: No tumor is found in the breast, but cancer is present in axillary lymph nodes that are attached to either other or other structures, or cancer may be found in the lymph nodes near the breast bone, or The tumor is 2 cm or smaller. Cancer has spread to axillary lymph nodes that are attached to each other or other structures, or cancer may have spread to lymph nodes near the breastbone, or The tumor is 2 - 4 cm in size. Cancer has spread to axillary lymph nodes that are attached to each other or to other structures, or cancer may have spread to lymph nodes near the breast bone, or The tumor is larger than 5 cm. Cancer has spread to axillary lymph nodes that may be attached to each other or to other structures, or cancer may have spread to lymph nodes near the breastbone. In stage IIIB breast cancer, the tumor may be any size, and the cancer: Has spread to the chest wall and/or skin of the breast, and May have spread to axillary lymph nodes that may be attached to each other or to other structures, or cancer may have spread to lymph nodes near the breastbone. Cancer that has spread to the skin of the breast is inflammatory breast cancer. In stage IIIC breast cancer: There may be no sign of cancer in the breast or the tumor may be any size, and may have spread to the chest wall and/or skin of the breast. Cancer cells are present in lymph nodes above or below the collarbone Cancer cells may have spread to axillary lymph nodes or lymph nodes near the breastbone. Cancer that has spread to the skin of the breast is inflammatory breast cancer. Stage IIIC breast cancer may be operable or inoperable: In operable stage IIIC: cancer is found in 10 or more axillary lymph nodes, or is in lymph nodes below the collarbone, or is in axillary lymph nodes and lymph nodes near the breastbone In inoperable stage IIIC: cancer has spread to the lymph nodes above the collarbone The survival rate for stage IIIA breast cancer may be slightly higher than for stage 3B, and the survival rate for stage IIIB may be slightly higher than for stage IIIC. However all women diagnosed with stage III breast cancer have several promising treatment options. TNM At stage III, TNM designations help describe the extent of the disease. Higher numbers indicate more extensive disease. Most commonly, stage III breast cancer is described as: T: T1, T2, T3 or T4, depending on the size and/or extent of the primary tumor. N1: Cancer has spread to the lymph nodes M0: The disease has not spread to other sites in the body

What is Dehydration? What Causes It? Dehydration happens when your body doesn’t have as much water as it needs. Without enough, your body can’t function properly. You can have mild, moderate, or severe dehydration depending on how much fluid is missing from your body.

Causes It’s normal to lose water from your body every day by sweating, breathing, peeing, and pooping, and through tears and saliva (spit). Usually you replace the lost liquid by drinking fluids and eating foods that contain water. If you lose too much water or don’t drink and eat enough, you can get dehydrated. You can lose more water than usual with:

A fever Diarrhea Vomiting Excessive sweating Peeing a lot (Diabetes and some medications like water pills -- also called diuretics -- can make you pee more often.) You may not replace the water you lose because: You’re busy and forget to drink enough. You don’t realize you’re thirsty.

Symptoms

Signs of mild or moderate dehydration include: Thirst Dry or sticky mouth Not peeing very much Dark yellow pee Dry, cool skin Headache Muscle cramps Signs of severe dehydration include: Not peeing or having very dark yellow pee Very dry skin Feeling dizzy Rapid heartbeat Rapid breathing Sunken eyes Sleepiness, lack of energy, confusion or irritability Fainting

Symptoms for babies and young children can be different than for adults:

· Dry mouth and tongue · No tears when crying · Dry diapers for 3 hours · Sunken eyes, cheeks, soft spot on the top of the skull · Sleepiness, lack of energy, or irritability

Severe dehydration is a medical emergency and needs to be treated immediately.

Intravenous Vitamin C for Cancer By Dr. Ronald Hoffman

For more than 20 years, the Hoffman Center has been using high-dose vitamin C drips in its cancer support protocols. The initial impetus was from Linus Pauling who, together with Ewan Cameron, pioneered the use of high-dose C in cancer in the 1960s. Now, there’s new interest in this modality for fighting cancer based on new, exciting research under way at the National Institutes of Health. Cameron and Pauling found that vitamin C helped cancer patients live about four times longer than cancer patients not given vitamin C. They administered high-dose vitamin C in the form of sodium ascorbate given orally and intravenously to treat more than 1,000 cancer patients. Nonetheless, vitamin C for cancer suffered a setback when Dr. Charles Moertel of the Mayo Clinic, an arch foe of nutritional therapies for cancer, sought to disprove Pauling’s thesis. But he did not follow the Pauling/Cameron instructions or regimen. Moertel selected a cohort of terminal colon cancer patients who had not responded to all forms of conventional treatment, including surgery, chemo and radiation, and administered 10 grams of vitamin C to them orally. When the patients failed to demonstrate improved survival over patients not receiving vitamin C in the study, Moertel pronounced the vitamin C/cancer hypothesis defunct. Moertel failed to note that the benefits achieved by Pauling and Cameron’s patients were obtained via both IV and oral C. He ultimately succumbed to cancer himself years later. Alternative practitioners, meanwhile, sought to resurrect IV vitamin C as a tool in the treatment of cancer, but not until recently has serious academic research resumed. Dr. Hugh Riordan of Kansas treated hundreds of cancer patients with doses of vitamin C up to 200,000 mg (200 grams) per day in infusions lasting 4-12 hours several times a week. He compiled a series of case histories documenting impressive responses but passed recently, before his work was generally acknowledged. His protegee, Dr. Jeanne Drisko, Director, KU Integrative Medicine, has undertaken a series of clinical trials to validate the benefits of IV vitamin C in cancer. An FDA approved trial is now underway. Research at the National Institutes of Health is beginning to suggest that vitamin C deserves another chance to find its niche in the arsenal of anti-cancer therapies. Studies now suggest that even high dose vitamin C given by mouth is poorly absorbed. Blood levels “max out” at doses of 500 mg given several times during the day. But vitamin C given intravenously is another story. When delivered in a “drip,” much higher concentrations of C can be attained. At these higher concentrations, vitamin C has different characteristics than if given orally. While oral vitamin C boosts immunity and assists tissue repair, it is too weak to do much to kill or inhibit cancer cells. But at high doses delivered directly into the bloodstream, it may act to increase levels of hydrogen peroxide deep in the tissues where cancer cells lurk. Peroxide-mediated killing is one of the white blood cells’ key mechanisms for fighting infection and cancer. Research currently under way has shown that high concentrations of vitamin C can stop the growth or even kill a wide range of cancer cells. Only intravenous administration of vitamin C can deliver the high doses found to be effective against cancer. IV vitamin C, when administered by a trained, experienced physician, is safe and well-tolerated, even at doses as high as 100,000 mg (100 grams) per day. Proper blood tests must be done to ensure that it is well-tolerated, and the patient must be monitored. Doses must be gradually adjusted upward. Not all patients are candidates for IV vitamin C. Vitamin C can be safely administered even while patients are undergoing chemo and radiation; in fact, the FDA-approved trial at the University of Kansas Medical Center explicitly permits the co-administration of vitamin C with conventional treatments. Intravenous vitamin C remains one of the key modalities employed by the Hoffman Center in support of recovery from cancer, and it is hoped that additional research, now under way, will further document its benefits.

The Vitamin Component of Moringa Leaves: Moringa has Vitamin A (Beta Carotene), Vitamin B1 (Thiamine), Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin), Vitamin B3 (Niacin), Vitamin B6 Pyrodixine), Vitamin B7 (Biotin), Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid), Vitamin D (Cholecalciferol), Vitamin E (Tocopherol) and Vitamin K. Vitamin A (Beta Carotene), Vitamin A is a vitamin which is needed by the retina of the eye in the form of a specific metabolite, the light-absorbing molecule retinal. This molecule is absolutely necessary for both “Scotopic”scotopic and color vision. Vitamin A also functions in a very different role, as an irreversibly oxidized form retinoic acid, which is an important hormone-like growth factor for epithelial and other cells. Vitamin B1 (Thiamine) helps fuel the body by converting blood sugar into energy. It keeps the mucous membranes healthy and is essential for nervous system, cardiovascular and muscular function. Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) is required for a wide variety of cellular processes. Like the other B vitamins, it plays a key role in energy metabolism, and for the metabolism of fats, ketone bodies, carbohydrates, and proteins. It is the central component of the cofactors FAD and FMN, and is therefore required by all “Flavoprotein”flavoproteins. Vitamin B3 (Niacin), like all B complex vitamins, are necessary for healthy skin, hair, eyes, and liver. They also help the nervous system function properly. Niacin also helps the body make various sex and stress-related hormones in the adrenal glands and other parts of the body. Niacin is effective in improving circulation and reducing cholesterol levels in the blood. Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine) is required for the synthesis of the neurotransmitters serotonin and norepinephrine and for myelin formation. Pyridoxine deficiency in adults principally affects the peripheral nerves, skin, mucous membranes, and the blood cell system. In children, the central nervous system (CNS) is also affected. Deficiency can occur in people with uremia, alcoholism, cirrhosis, hyperthyroidism, malabsorption syndromes, congestive heart failure (CHF), and in those taking certain medications. Vitamin B7 (Biotin) has vital metabolic functions. Without biotin as a co-factor, many enzymes do not work properly, and serious complications can occur, including varied diseases of the skin, intestinal tract, and nervous system. Biotin can help address high blood glucose levels in people with type 2 diabetes, and is helpful in maintaining healthy hair and nails, decreasing insulin resistance and improving glucose tolerance, and possibly preventing birth defects. It plays a role in energy metabolism, and has been used to treat alopecia, cancer, Crohn’s disease, hair loss, Parkinson’s disease, peripheral neuropathy, Rett syndrome, seborrheic dermatitis, and vaginal candidiasis. Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid)is one of the safest and most effective nutrients, experts say. It may not be the cure for the common cold (though it’s thought to help prevent more serious complications). But the benefits of vitamin C may include protection against immune system deficiencies, cardiovascular disease, prenatal health problems, eye disease, and even skin wrinkling. Vitamin D (Cholecalciferol) is essential for promoting calcium absorption in the gut and maintaining adequate serum calcium and phosphate concentrations to enable normal mineralization of bone and prevent hypocalcemic tetany. It is also needed for bone growth and bone remodeling by osteoblasts and osteoclasts . Without sufficient vitamin D, bones can become thin, brittle, or misshapen. Vitamin D sufficiency prevents rickets in children and osteomalacia in adults. Together with calcium, vitamin D also helps protect older adults from osteoporosis. Vitamin D has other roles in human health, including modulation of neuromuscular and immune function and reduction of inflammation.

Vitamin E describes a family of 8 antioxidants, 4 tocopherols and 4 tocotrienols. alpha-tocopherol (a-tocopherol) is the only form of vitamin E that is actively maintained in the human body and is therefore, the form of vitamin E found in the largest quantities in the blood and tissue. Vitamin E, a fat-soluble vitamin, protects vitamin A and essential fatty acids from oxidation in the body cells and prevents breakdown of body tissues. Vitamin K is necessary for normal clotting of blood in humans. Specifically, vitamin K is required for the liver to make factors that are necessary for blood to properly clot (coagulate), including factor II (prothrombin), factor VII (proconvertin), factor IX (thromboplastin component), and factor X (Stuart factor). Other clotting factors that depend on vitamin K are protein C, protein S, and protein Z. Deficiency of vitamin K or disturbances of liver function (for example, severe liver failure) may lead to deficiencies of clotting factors and excess bleeding.

Amino Acids: The Foundation of our body: Our bodies need twenty different amino acids or proteins that are the building blocks for a healthy body. Nonessential amino acids are those that the body can synthesize for itself, provided there is enough nitrogen, carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen available. Essential amino acids are those supplied by the diet. They must be consumed as the human body either cannot make them at all or cannot make them in sufficient quantity to meet its needs. Of the 20 amino acids required by our bodies, eleven of them are nonessential and nine are essential. Functions of Amino Acids: Proteins act as enzymes , hormones , and antibodies . They maintain fluid balance and acid and base balance. They also transport substances such as oxygen, vitamins and minerals to target cells throughout the body. Structural proteins, such as collagen and keratin, are responsible for the formation of bones, teeth, hair, and the outer layer of skin and they help maintain the structure of blood vessels and other tissues. Enzymes are proteins that facilitate chemical reactions without being changed in the process. Hormones (chemical messengers) are proteins that travel to one or more specific target tissues or organs, and many have important regulatory functions. Insulin , for example, plays a key role in regulating the amount of glucose in the blood. The body manufactures antibodies (giant protein molecules), which combat invading antigens. Antigens are usually foreign substances such as bacteria and viruses that have entered the body and could potentially be harmful. Immunoproteins, also called immunoglobulins or antibodies, defend the body from possible attack by these invaders by binding to the antigens and inactivating them. If these critical components for a healthy body are not provided as part of a healthy diet, the body will look for other sources for them. This can include breakdown of our organs, leading to chronic problems such as liver and kidney problems, diabetes and heart disease among others. MORINGA AS FOOD Moringa is considered a complete food as it contains all of the essential Amino Acids required for a healthy body. The dried leaf is a nutritional powerhouse and contains all of the following Amino Acids. ISOLEUCINE builds proteins and enzymes and it provides ingredients used to create other essential biochemical components in the body, some of which promote energy and stimulate the brain to maintain a state of alertness. LEUCINE works with isoleucine to build proteins and enzymes which enhance the body’s energy and alertness. LYSINE ensures your body absorbs the right amount of calcium. It also helps form collagen used in bone cartilage and connective tissues. In addition, lysine aids in the production of antibodies, hormones, and enzymes. Recent studies have shown lysine improves the balance of nutrients that reduce viral growth. METHIONINE primarily supplies sulfur to your body. It is known to prevent hair, skin, and nail problems while lowering cholesterol levels as it increases the liver’s production of lecithin. Methionine reduces liver fat and protects the kidneys, which reduces bladder irritation. PHENYLALAINE produces the chemical needed to transmit signals between nerve cells and the brain. It can help with concentration and alertness, reduce hunger pains and improve memory and mood. THREONINE is an important part of collagen, elastin, and enamel proteins. It assists metabolism and helps prevent fat build-up in the liver while boosting the body’s digestive and intestinal tracts. TRYPTOPHAN supports the immune system, alleviates insomnia, reduces anxiety, depression, and the symptoms of migraine headaches. It also is beneficial in decreasing the risk of artery and heart spasms as it works with lysine to reduce cholesterol levels. VALINE is important in promoting a sharp mind, coordinated muscles, and a calm mood.

(Philippians 4:8) speaks on how you should think. A thought may seem harmless, but if it becomes toxic, it can become physically, emotionally, or spiritually dangerous. God tells us how to think. Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Spiritual Mind Boot Camp Train Your Mind How To Think By Vonda Kline or this year we always set new goals for workouts, new goals for diets, and we get pumped up and enthusiastic about the goal we have set for ourselves. We want to lose a certain amount of weight in a specific amount of time. We try to follow a strict diet plan, and were racing off to the gym or paying for that new gym membership. We stay with it for a month or so, maybe even two or three but eventually were right back to where we started. Something takes our mind off the goal we have set, and our focus now becomes easily diverted to something else and that cycle just repeats itself over and over and that also applies to all of your goals you set for yourself. So what that tells me is that your mind is all over the place and that is why you need to train your mind how to think. We need to learn how to discipline our minds the same way a bodybuilder disciplines his/or her body when they’re getting ready for a contest. Being an athlete, I know what it means to discipline oneself to reach and attain that desired look. Not everyone can do that because they don't have the mind discipline, the mind power, the mind focus. The Bible tells us "As a man thinketh in his heart so is he." So what are you thinking about yourself? What are your thoughts creating? What is in that deep conscious of your mind? Look at your life, look at your surroundings, and look at your friends. Do you have low self-esteem about yourself? Are you settling for crap? Do you allow people to abuse you mentally, and emotionally? Well like it or not, you are attracting this into your life.

Some of these experiences come from traumatic situations that have taken place in our lives from a child. This has set us up for toxic thinking, and allowing other’s to treat us this way.

Deliberately Create Your Life if your peace of mind or happiness is on hold waiting for something to show up... then it never will...and you will be waiting until you let go. Live in the present. Get on with your life knowing your desires will show up at the perfect time and in the perfect way. Take time each day to close your eyes and quiet your mind. Listen rather than talk. Relax rather than think. Just breathe deeply in and out with your eyes closed cleansing your mind from all those negative images that pop up in your mind’s eye. Do this each day for seven minutes, then increase your time to fourteen minutes, and when you can be still for fourteen minutes increase your time to twenty-one minutes. With everyday practice and discipline, you will soon be able to sit still for thirty minutes. “Be Still and Know That I Am God” (Psalms 46:10) A healthy mind and a healthy body will follow. Then you will be able to start moving forward in life creating what you want, and achieving it. But first we got to clean out that mind. A toxic mind produces a toxic body. You set out to do the right thing but for some odd reason you can’t stick to it. Something will change your focus, divert your attention to something else, and that cycle will repeat itself over, and over. You are to master your thoughts, but most of us are running around being mastered by our thoughts. Deliberately Create Your Life Release The Outcome Think Yourself Fit Fine-tune Your Inner Dialogue God has designed us so that we can change our mindset, renew our minds change and heal. (Romans 12:2) And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind. What are toxic thoughts? Toxic thoughts are thoughts that trigger negative and anxious emotions which produce chemicals that cause the body stress. They are stored in your mind as well as in the cells in your body. Neuroscientists can now track the sequence of reactions through which toxic thoughts carve a harmful path of destruction in your body. New scientific evidence on the hearts neurological sensitivity indicates there are lines of communication between the brain and the heart that check the accuracy and integrity of your thought life. Scientists Dr. Caroline Leaf speaks on these issues. (Proverbs 23:7) Your thoughts directly affect your heart. Stress can create high blood pressure, Coronary Artery Disease-Hardening of the arteries, causing narrowing, which can be triggered by anger. Angina - Chest pain and spasms of heart tissue, etc. The Immune System Resentment: Bitterness, lack of forgiveness, self-hatred are just a few of the toxic thoughts and emotions that can also trigger immune system disorders. When your immune system faces an attack, such as when your thought life is toxic it generates blood proteins called cytokines which are known to produce fatigue and depression, says scientist’s Dr. Caroline Leaf.

The Digestive System A lot of research is available on how food affects your mind. Scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology were among the first to document this. Some digestive disorders which can originate from the effects of toxic thoughts and emotions include constipation, diarrhea, and leaky gut syndrome. Leaky gut syndrome means the nutrients leak out of your stomach and colon walls and doesn’t make it to your cells. Making your thoughts life-giving, not life-threatening means you will be far less likely to suffer sickness and disease. If you take the time to do things that generate healthy thoughts and their positive emotions - love respect and kindness the results will be ever so rewarding. Remember think on (Philippians 4:8). "Spiritual Stability" By: Minister Robert Williams, Music Minister Union Chapel Church, Union, NJ In today's culture if you are not anchored in "truth" then you are susceptible to being tossed around and swept away by temptation, life's challenges, trials and circumstances. I dare to say that thousands maybe even millions of individuals have lost their faith and hope in God in this generation because life's challenges overtook them leaving them questioning Gods love for them let alone His very presence in their lives. Some even ask "how could God let this happen to me "? Or better yet "what did I do to deserve this"? " I go to church, I pray, I pay my tithes, I don't hurt nobody, I usher every 4th Sunday." "It's no use, this faith stuff doesn't work for me". Sound familiar? Many have given up on God partly because they have no "root system" that keeps them calm, secure and thinking straight in difficult times and as result they are not totally persuaded that our "God is good" even in the midst of life's many challenges and that He loves us "unconditionally" no matter what. Beloved, God wants you to have a "deep root system" in Christ so that you can face life's challenges with peace and confidence and so that you can be someone that believers and unbelievers can count on for answers in difficult times. "Well Min. Williams how can I have this root system and peace and confidence that you're talking about?” I'm glad you asked, let me give you a few principles to consider from Philippians 4:1-9. This passage is the Apostle Paul's call to the church for spiritual stability. Spiritual stability is a major theme repeated throughout the New Testament starting with Jesus in Matthew 7 instructing us to build our lives on a stable foundation in Him and not the things of this world lest we be overwhelmed by the waves and the storms of life. The first principle is found in verses 2,3 of our passage after his call for us to "stand firm in the Lord" in verse 1. Spiritual stability requires cultivating peace in the fellowship. Individual spiritual stability is the result of corporate harmony, corporate peace. Where there is peace in the church and harmony in the church, the church is stabilized individually. On the other hand, where there is discord, conflict in the church, it breeds insecurity. So, the first virtue that is necessary for spiritual stability is peace. Peace. The second is in verse 4. Not only does spiritual stability mandate cultivating peace in the fellowship, but secondly maintaining a spirit of joy; maintaining a spirit of joy. “Rejoice in the Lord always,” he says, “and I will say again, rejoice.” The rejoicing, you will please note, is in the Lord. If you attach your rejoicing to your circumstances, it will come and go. 48

DMochelle Fashions Magazine

April 2018

If you attach your rejoicing to the Lord, it will always remain the same because He never changes nor does His relationship to you ever change. So, you learn to rejoice in the privileged union you have with Christ, which transcends circumstances. So, the second virtue, then, necessary for spiritual stability is a surpassing, overruling Joy that is not subject to difficulty. The third principle we noted was that spiritual stability comes to those who learn to accept less than they deserve. Learning to accept less than you deserve. Verse 5: “Let your forbearing be known to all men.” What he means by that word “forbearing” is really your willingness to accept less than you deserve. He’s talking here about the spiritual virtue of humility. You can call it forbearing, you can call it contentment, you can call it humble graciousness. It is the attitude of a person who seeks nothing so that when he gets nothing, he’s not concerned with that. Humility. The fourth principle also in verse 5 and then on to verse 6 is this: Spiritual stability requires resting on a confident trust in the Lord – resting on a confident trust in the Lord. He says in verse 5, the Lord is near; then verse 6, so be anxious for nothing. What are you going to worry about when the Lord is there? If you understand who God is and if you believe Him and you believe in Him, then what are you going to worry about? He transcends every problem. He transcends every difficulty, every test, every trial, every temptation. So, the bottom line here is how much do you know about God and how much do you trust God? If you trust God, you will transcend your difficulty because you will understand who God is, you will understand the purposes of God, you will understand that God is still in control, and you will therefore be calm in the midst of your storm. Let’s call this the virtue of faith. These are the virtues that make for spiritual stability – peace, joy, humility, and faith. You trust God and you know He’s in charge. Faith. The fifth principle, Spiritual stability requires reacting to problems with thankful prayer. In verse 6, you remember, Paul said instead of worrying about things, pray – but, he said, pray with thanksgiving – pray with a thankful heart. So, let’s say the fifth virtue is gratitude – gratitude. You show me a person who has peace, the peace that the Spirit of God produces, joy, a person who is humble, you show me a person who believes truly in God and you show me a person who is thankful in everything and I’ll show you a person who is spiritually stable. Those are the virtues. We, as Christians, are called upon to be faithful, to be consistent, to be stable, to be strong, to be bold, to be courageous, to be unwavering, to be uncompromising as the children of God, and this really gets right at the very heart of Christian living. The call of God upon us is that we should be stable, firm, strong, and, of course, that against the onslaught and the attack of the world, the flesh and the devil, therein lies the spiritual battle. Persecution, hostility, rejection, testing, trials, temptations – all of these kinds of things come at us to topple us, to make us unstable, and the call of the New Testament is for us to be stable. Beloved, in the middle of your trial, you can be thankful for the purpose of God being worked by that trial. You can be thankful for the perfection of God being worked and accomplished in your life. You can be thankful for the provision and care of God in the process. And you can be thankful that it’s only a taste to assure you of the future promise of God to be revealed in the day of Jesus Christ. You need to learn to be thankful, and if you really know who your God is and you really understand who your God is and you really know that He’s working out His perfect plan, you can have a thankful heart in any difficulty at all. You don’t need to lose your stability. Be planted in the house of God like a palm tree and stand firm in the Lord!

Harmoni Jacobs Story PART 4 By Kandace Williams

“Andrew, I think we need to do counseling with Ashlee.” I said to my husband referring to my 16 year old daughter. We were preparing for bed and I just couldn’t get the thought out of my head. It’s been two months since I went through double mastectomy surgery for the cancer in my breast and ever since we broke the news to my daughter it was like I could no longer connect with her. “Harm, I think she just needs time to deal.” He replied. I knew he wasn’t really in the mood to talk because he called me by the nickname he gave me years ago when we first met. “Time? It’s been months and my daughter doesn’t even look me in the eye anymore, nor does she talk to me about anything.” I said in a frustrated tone. “Well maybe you can try to talk to her before we push a counseling session. You know how I feel about those types of professions.” He suggested. I simply nodded my head yes in agreement. As I laid in bed I made the decision that the next afternoon I would sit down with Ashlee and try to get her to open up. And little did Andrew know, he would be right there with me.

THE NEXT AFTERNOON Andrew and I sat on the sofa in our living room waiting for Ashlee to stroll through the door after school. It wasn’t our normal routine, but I knew that if we didn’t catch her as soon as she walked in, she’d try to lock herself in her room like she’s been doing the last few weeks. Moments later I heard her key turning in the door and for whatever reason I became nervous and anxious. She walked in and immediately noticed us. “Hey.” She mumbled as she proceeded to her room. “Hey honey. Can you put your bag down and have a seat? I want to talk to you.” I said standing up. “Talk to me about what? I have homework.” She replied in an annoyed tone and tried to continue walking to her room. “ASHLEE, SIT DOWN!” her father said raising his voice and now standing up. She immediately felt the seriousness in his tone and threw herself down on the couch. “Your mother wants to talk to you about how you’ve been acting toward her for the past few weeks.” He stated. “I haven’t been acting any kind of way.” “Actually Ash, you have been a little snappy and somewhat avoiding me. Can we talk about what is bothering you?” I asked. She sat silent for a moment and just before I was able to speak again her words began pouring out like word vomit. “Oh, now you guys want to talk? Why would I want to talk about what I’m feeling when you couldn’t even open up about your issues?” she snapped.

50

DMochelle Fashions Magazine

April 2018

All I could think was that we were actually getting to the issue and it’s been less than 5 minutes. “Ash, my condition was something even I had a hard time opening up about. I was scared to talk about it. I didn’t know how to bring it to you.” I replied in the softest tone I could possibly use at the moment. “See that’s the problem ma. You think that you’re the only one in this house going through things. You think it was fair for me to find out about what’s going on with you after you come home with no breast? Did you even think how that would affect my life? Of course, you didn’t. All you guys ever think about is yourself.” She screamed as tears began to stream down her pale skin. I think at that moment I had actually realized that my daughter looked slimmer than usual, her skin tone had lightened and her cheeks looked flushed. “I guess I didn’t think that you’d be so affected by the situation.” “I know you didn’t. Did you ever think about the fact that cancer can be hereditary and genetically carried? Or even the fact that I’m 16 and getting to the age that things like this can pop up? NO. and not to mention the fact that yours has been reoccurring and you said NOTHING!” All I could do was stare at her and then at my husband. Ashlee then stood up and shook her head. I went to console her, and she snatched away and ran into her room. My eyes began to water and I couldn’t even begin to think what to say to Andrew about everything. Andrew stood up and hugged me. I guess I never realized none of those things. My daughter was absolutely right about everything she had said and had the right to feel exactly the way she was feeling. That night I sat on my computer researching my daughters concerns so I’d be able to approach her in an informative way sooner than later. She was correct. The breast cancer mutation genes can be passed down to our children, which began to make me think if maybe I had inherited the mutation genes. I also had researched the effect that these types of situations have on our children, family members, and friends mentally and realized that maybe keeping these things from my husband and daughter has really affected them in ways I couldn’t bare to imagine. My night was full of regret. Regret of not speaking about my stage three breast cancer with my family before it got so far that I had to walk out of a hospital room not looking like myself. I should’ve discussed these things with them the first time around and addressed my daughter’s concerns from the beginning especially because she is growing and developing. I decided that my next steps with my diagnoses would be to involve my daughter, take her to get tested to ease her mind and also inform her of what may be to come. That night I made a promise to start this off the right way, so my family could somewhat be at ease. It might be a little late but better late than never. Right?
