Why would you come to PeaceWise training? Dear friend, You and I struggle with conflict – often multiple times a day! Yet how many times do we turn to the deep and practical wisdom of the Bible as the basis for working out how to respond? PeaceWise training equips you to handle conflict constructively, redemptively and using proven strategies, which have brought resolution and restoration to countless disputes and relationships. In this training, you will: • learn a simple but powerful framework for responding to conflict in your life (and, for the higher level trainings, learn how to help others deal with conflict in their lives) • discover gracious ways to deal with difficult people • be trained in how to give a truly effective apology and what genuine forgiveness looks like in practice • see the incredible witness potential of building a culture of peace in your community – whether church, school, workplace or otherwise • be inspired by the practical wisdom of the Bible and the power of the gospel to bring hope and change in the face of conflict. By doing this training, you can become a better parent, minister, teacher, leader, change-agent, neighbour or friend – because we all need to learn these biblically based life-skills as we face conflict through our lives. I warmly encourage you to come and be inspired by this life-changing training. With God’s blessing,

Some important things to know about the training … • As all training builds upon earlier principles, PeaceWise training MUST be undertaken in the following sequence: Personal peacemaking > Conflict coaching > Mediation > Advanced mediation • For all training other than the one day Personal peacemaking seminar, you need to obtain and read Ken Sande’s book, The Peacemaker. This book is available from the PeaceWise online bookstore at peacewise.org.au or from Christian bookshops.
• Conflict coaching, Mediation and Advanced mediation courses will have pre-course assignments that will be given at least three weeks before the week of the training. Participants in these courses will also have preparatory work to do on each evening of the training, so please ensure that the evenings of the training days are kept free of other commitments. • All training corresponds to the training curriculum bearing the same name as provided by Peacemaker Ministries in the US - see www.peacemaker.net. Note however that the Advanced mediation is training specific to Australia.
… And what are the costs? PeaceWise has sought to make the training as affordable as possible. We encourage you to take advantage of the significant savings offered by the group and early-bird booking rates. All training costs include GST.
PeaceWise has a limited Scholarship Fund to provide some support to those with a genuine desire to attend but limited financial resources – please contact us if you would like to know more.

PeaceWise is a national Christian peacemaking organisation dedicated to helping people learn and apply biblical principles in seeking Christian solutions to the conflicts we encounter in all aspects of daily living.
Our purpose is promoting peace and reconciliation in relationships through biblical principles and the power of Christ.
What will you learn in each course? Personal peacemaking Level: Core principles (ALL VENUES) The first step in becoming a peacemaker is to learn how to respond to conflict biblically and reconcile relationships in your own life. This seminar will help you learn to address conflict in your own life and to breathe grace into difficult situations. You will also learn to respond to conflict in a way that will glorify God, serve others and help you become more like Christ. This level of training is relevant for all Christians, helping every member of your church understand how to integrate peacemaking into the fabric of your church. This discipleship and church transformation strategy will help you develop a culture of peace in your church.
Conflict coaching Level: Foundational skills (ALL VENUES) Foundational skills training provides the training you will need to effectively help people with most conflicts. The purpose of the conflict coaching training is to equip you to help others resolve conflict and reconcile relationships without your direct involvement in the conflict. This training will teach you how to provide encouragement, godly advice, prayer, support and informal instruction in basic peacemaking to an individual who is struggling with a conflict. You use conflict coaching skills any time you offer advice or your opinion to a friend, family member or neighbour on how to respond to a conflict.
Mediation Level: Foundational skills (ALL VENUES) Mediation training is the second part of the Foundational skills training. Through the mediation portion of the training, you will learn skills and processes for reconciling two or more people who cannot resolve a conflict on their own. This training is provided by experienced conciliators and gives special attention to communication and problemsolving skills that are needed for effective mediation. It also addresses some of the problems that are more frequently encountered during mediation.
Advanced mediation Level: Advanced (PERTH) This training is designed to develop your mediation skills in more difficult conflicts that may have more parties and issues, with more intensity and complexity. Time is devoted to dealing with common ‘what next?!’ dilemmas and the role plays in this training involve extended opportunity to develop your mediation skills using the distinctively biblically-based framework that distinguishes this training from secular approaches. This training is credited by Peacemaker Ministries as a component of its Certified Christian Conciliator Program, which is a professional conciliator accreditation program that requires acceptance by application, and then extensive practical experience, on-going education and client and mentor evaluation.
What’s included in the training? Registration entitles attendance for all relevant sessions, and also includes: • morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea • all course materials (apart from a copy of The Peacemaker - required for all levels above Personal peacemaking) • certificate of attendance For persons such as those in full-time pastoral ministry teachers and lawyers, if the content of the training is relevant to your professional development or continuing accreditation or education requirements, you may claim one ‘unit’ for each hour of attendance, subject to the rules of the relevant program.
