Our exclusive progressive auto-locking front differential constantly monitors front-wheel speed. If it detects one wheel spinning faster than the other, it sends more power to the wheel with better traction. The rider doesn’t have to do anything to activate it. And the Visco-Lok auto-locking front differential comes without a speed limiter, unlike some competitors’ differentials.

TORSIONAL TRAILING ARM INDEPENDENT REAR SUSPENSION (TTI)
ERGONOMICS
The only independent rear suspension that eliminates scrub and camber changes, the wheels pivot straight up and down rather than in a butterfly motion like competitors’ systems. So, the vehicle moves only in the direction you point it. There’s also an external sway bar for more controlled body roll in turns.
We don’t just put a seat onto an excellently performing machine, we design the entire vehicle around you. The seat position and cushion are designed to maximize comfort and offer an optimal position for the rider so you can keep going on the trail. Foot pegs are placed so your body rests in a natural position as you ride. Plus our multifunction gauge is easy to read at a glance.

Rotax engines were first equipped on Ski-Doo snowmobiles starting in 1962 and Bombardier acquired the Austrian-based company in 1970. Since then, Rotax engines have become some of the most sought after engines, admired for their precision, performance and reliability. They’re not only the heart of BRP vehicles, but the choice for premier karts and ultralight aircraft, even superbikes, motorcycles and scooters made by other companies. For 2016, Rotax engineers optimized and upgraded nearly every engine used in the Can-Am off-road lineup, so you get a performance edge no matter which vehicle you ride.

We started the ultra-performance movement with our Rotax 800R. And now we’re taking it to a whole new level. Displacement is now 854cc and we added technology from the Maverick side-by-side, including larger throttle body for more torque and the state-of-the-art cylinder head. It results in 10% more power, 7% more torque and even more fun.
They say the 500cc class is the industry sweet spot and we’re not shy to say that our 570 – the only V-Twin engine of its category – is on the leading edge, by offering best-in-class power. By increasing both the bore and stroke, we increased torque by 9%. Even with the added horsepower, we retained its smooth power for total control.

With the Maverick X ds TURBO, Can-Am is the only OEM to offer the industry’s first factory-installed turbocharger. For 2016, we are going even further, increasing output to an unmatched and industry-leading 131 hp. The CVT system is configured to increase power of the turbocharged engine. It features a driven pulley with a Quick Response System (QRS) and a performance drive pulley. This innovative design reduces friction, providing an instant response and optimum belt clamping for better power transfer. The CVT airflow is optimized to bring more cold air flowing through the pulleys.
INDEPENDENT SUSPENSION (TTI / TTA)
MAXIMISE BUMP ABSORPTION The Torsional Trailing arm Independent rear suspension (TTI) delivers stable, responsive performance on the Commander line of side-by-side vehicles. Its exclusive design eliminates scrub and camber changes and lets the rear wheels move straight up and down, as opposed to a butterfly-like movement, keeping the vehicle moving precisely in the direction you drive it. The Torsional Trailing A-Arms rear suspension (TTA) is a compact five-link suspension, standard on the Maverick, unique in the industry. It eliminates bump steer and minimizes scrub while maximizing bump absorption and tire-to-ground contact. Boosting the performance of the proven Rotax 1000R engine with the industry’s first factory-installed turbocharger enables the Maverick X ds TURBO to produce an impressive 131 hp. The Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) showcases a redesigned driven pulley with a Quick Response System (QRS) and an improved drive pulley that allows better power transfer and a faster engagement time.
The innovative Torsional Trailing A-arms (TTA) rear suspension is a compact version of a five-link suspension featuring no bump steer and low scrub. This all translates to a more controlled wheel movement, optimal bump absorption and tire-to-ground contact for predictable handling. Compact design means low unsprung weight for quicker suspension reaction to changing terrain. Its 16 in. (40.6 cm) of travel will provide a smooth ride at hard-charging paces or in technical terrain.
These 14-in. (35.6 cm) aluminum beadlock wheels use a mechanical fastening system that makes it nearly impossible for the tire bead to break loose from the wheel during heavy acceleration or cornering. Proven 28-in., 6-ply Maxxis Bighorn 2.0 tires feature sturdy lugs and a non-directional tread pattern for a smooth and confident ride over a variety of surfaces.

The only independent rear suspension that eliminates scrub and camber changes, the wheels pivot straight up and down rather than in a butterfly motion like competitors’ systems. So, the vehicle moves only in the direction you point it. There’s also an external sway bar for more controlled body roll in turns.
The industry’s most versatile and usable cargo box design has a 600-lb (272 kg) cargo capacity, dual storage levels, anti-rust box, and tilt-assist dumping. Cargo box with two levels separated by a removable, water-resistant panel, that offers an upper and lower bed with their independent tailgate.
