I am pleased to introduce my highly motivated and extremely talented legislative team for the 2021 session (from left to right). The skilled, Mr. Dylan Whitsell (Legislative Aid) has a degree in International Affairs, has versatile embassy experience while working in Japan, and has also previously worked for the City and County of Honolulu. My dedicated Chief of Staff, Keahi Renaud. The “boots on the ground” and versatile Patrice Tanna (Community Liaison). Our energetic Ms. Anam Maniar (Legislative Intern) is a student at our local UH Manoa obtaining her degrees in Public Health and Political Science who was recently accepted into the UH Graduate Program in Public Health. And last, but not least, unstoppable, Mr. Aric Harp (Committee Clerk) who is currently a Civil Engineering student from the University of Dayton as well as Chaminade xv University. They continue to work diligently to make this session very successful.

The Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement has partnered with the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands (DHHL) to administer financial assistance to native Hawaiians renters on the DHHL Waiting List who are experiencing hardship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Beginning Monday, February 8, 2021, CNHA will begin accepting applications for the DHHL Rent Relief Program, which is funded by the U.S. Department of the Treasury. The program will provide eligible participants with payments for rent, back rent, security deposits, utility, home energy costs, and other expenses related to housing incurred during the pandemic. Funds from the program can be used to cover up to 12 months of rent and utilities, including back rent as far back as March 13, 2020. rental & utility assistance The City & County of Honolulu is working with community partners to develop the Rental & Utility Relief Program with $114M in federal COVID-19 relief funds to help with rent & household utility bills for electricity, sewer & water, STARTS APRIL 1st and gas of up to 12 months of bills. v
WHO CAN QUALIFY: • O‘ahu residents who are renting on island. • Proof of COVID-19 pandemic related job loss, unemployment, or pay reduction. • Proof of difficulties paying for rent and utilities. • One person per household. • There will be income limits for eligible households.

Hawaiian Electric Utility Bill Assistance Program
Hawaiian Electric announced a statewide assistance program to help qualifying families recover from the economic hardship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Hawai‘i Utility Bill Assistance Program will help Hawaii residents financially affected by the pandemic with past due electric, water, sewer and gas utility payments. Eligible residential customers can receive a onetime assistance grant of up to $750, depending on income and other qualifications.
