very 25 years there is a Quarter Quell edition of the Hunger Games. Quells mark the anniversaries of the districts defeat by the Capitol, and include special celebrations. The Games involves some sort of twist that makes them even more disastrous or difficult
to compete in, or watch. A small box contains small yellow envelopes containing specific themes or twists for each Quarter Quell. These instructions were planned at the founding of the Hunger Games, with plans in place for hundreds of Games. The President at the time selects the appropriate card and reads it on live television to announce the
theme of that year’s Quell. It is unknown how many Quarter Quells were planned ahead of time, but some suspect that the 75th had been changed so that Katniss Everdeen, the female tribute from District 12 who won the previous year and the district’s sole living female Victor, would be forced to go back into the arena once more.

The arena was designed to mimic a clock. For every hour, some form of torture designed by the Gamemakers would be activated in a specific section of the arena. It was split into 12 sections, each for a different hour of the day. The arena was shaped like a circle and was very small.
The 25th Hunger Games was the first Quarter Quell in the history of the Hunger Games. All that is known about this Games is that it was a Quarter Quell and the twist was that the districts had to choose their own tributes instead of reaping them, to remind them that the rebels chose to sacrifice their children in the rebellion. It is unknown how old you had to be to be eligible in the reaping, but as the twist said nothing about specific age limits
it is safe to guess that the normal age limits applied (12 to 18 years old). The 50th Hunger Games was the year of the second Quarter Quell. In honor of this anniversary, twice the number of regular tributes were sent into the arena, giving a total of 48 tributes. Known tributes include Haymitch Abernathy and he was the winner of this edition. The 75th Hunger Games was the third Quarter Quell, and was the
last Quarter Quell. In this case, to remind all the districts that even the strongest among them cannot overcome the Capitol, each district reaped their tributes from their existing pool of victors (59 in total). For these Hunger Games, Plutarch Heavensbee replaced Seneca Crane as head Gamemaker. This was the last Hunger Games held in Panem, but it ended with no victor, because the arena was destroyed.

Fans of The Hunger Games can’t wait for the final installment of the series, Mockingjay Pt.2, to be release this November. But after all of the excitement of what will no doubt be an amazing film, the sadness will set in when we remember it is the last one. But before you shed a tear, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer may have just #blessed us with the best news ever, because we just might get more Hunger Games! Mr. Feltheimer revealed to analysts that he’s “…actively

looking at some development and thinking about prequel and sequel possibilities.” While we can’t really imagine any storylines for a sequel, there is plenty of material for a prequel. It would even be an amazing chance to show Hunger Games of years past, maybe with some tributes who make an appearance in the Quarter Quell. Honestly, we’d do anything to see more Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth on the big screen in november! The Capitol wants you! instagram: @thecapitol facebook: thecapitol twitter: @thecapitol
