The ‘Views Museum’ of Valparaíso intend to reunite, in a unique space, all the aspects and the main characteristics of city. The transient goes through the main building and is directed to specific views with natural (mountains, sea, typical vegetation, sky) and physical elements (stairs, materiality, spaces that the building creates). The square provides a pause so that the building elements can be appreciated and people can find a place to relax and to use. The project also brings to the place a new way to coexistence to the local community. The project also brings to the place a new way to coexistence to the local community. The project was developed at the “Project Methodology VIII” discipline, with the student Maytê Coelho, 2017.

paranapiacaba >
Being a city that emerged as operational control and residential for the employees who worked for the old train company of SĂŁo Paulo, Paranapiacaba has a nostalgic and a different way. Each time more there is less demand for housing, so there are not many options for leisure and what to do. This project appropriates an area with abandoned houses next to a large lot. The houses will be renovated and will serve as ateliers and classrooms (such as cooking, photography, recreation) for the population. A large street passes between the ateliers and a long square that has a cafe, an open-air cinema/stage and a museum that can receive works produced at the ateliers or exhibitions from outside of the city. The purpose of this project is to reactivate the life it self in the city, give more options of leisure to the population and also to attract people from outside Paranapiacaba.

akashic
This work was developed in the discipline ‘Vertical Studio’, were students of different grades composes a group. The research started with the word Akashic, which means a stock library of every soul, thoughts and emotions that have taken place on planet and other planetary systems. Every event, small or large, is permanently recorded in the Akashic records. From ancient Greek ‘palimpsêstos’, the word Palimpsest was also an influence to the work. Its means “scraped to write again”. Don Pedro II Park is a chaotic centrality located at São Paulo city center. Its chaos is a result of many layers of demolitions and constructions. One of the things that was most interesting to the group was the residents and inhabitants of this place, every which have a different story and different memories about Don Pedro II Park. So the work was developed in thee steps: reports of Park visitors, historical research of the Park and graphical mapping. Through the reports, graphic images were created to translate the memories and experiences of the people. The historical territorial research was translated in new maps intended to characterize all the transformations of the region. From all this material the group created an informative and playful timeline representing the meaning of Don Pedro II Park, with all of the memories, the moments and the people. Group: Bruna Giovannini, Caio França Santos, Juliana Katayama, Paula Maíra and Leandra Myasaka.

espaço negativo > negative space
São Paulo’s city center is dense. Finding empty spaces in this chaotic centrality is practically impossible. In a city where land prices are so evident to the dynamics of occupation, a study of negative space seemed immeasurably important. The project is directed at the resignification of place as we know it. The concept of “place” comprises in a set of physical and symbolic information that relate to the idea of a specific physical space. It can be affirmed that the “place” is described in a social, historical, political, economic and physical context, but also encompasses sensitive and symbolic aspects. From this, the investigations allowed to speculate a new way of adding new values and symbologies to the concept of place, reinforcing its identity and intensifying possible relations between the human figure and the environment. The creation of a new atmosphere with simple materials, such as hot glue and plastic, devises a way to resinate these materials in an extreme way. The research goes beyond creating a new concept of place, tends to create a new environment that subverts the tactile and visual memories taking people who transit to a new perspective of observation of the place. The main reference to this project is the work “Reverse of Volume RG” by Yasuaki Onishi.

índia > the square and the book
The Summerschool india was a partnership between the Escola da Cidade, the university of Lake Constance and several indian colleges. The idea of this summerschool was to get in touch with a new culture and them study architecture through trips and visits. Before the trip to India, the brazilian students produced a book that related Indian architecture/culture with Brazil. The book is like a puzzle. Each time you turn the page it’s possible to make new relations, but you need to search and unite them. The Summerschool also hosted a Workshop called ‘hands-on’. Brazilian, German and Indian students came together to create a public space for adults and children. With organic forms, colors, textures and a typical Indian way of building, the square was made under a flyway to give a new meaning to the place. A typical vegetation of the region was used, besides recreational games and different levels.

percepçþes > perceptions
Architecture is not just developing spaces. The exercise of traveling, creating and perceiving is fundamental to create new perceptions. Drawing and photography give attention to detail, color and even how people inhabit and occupy the places. They can also complement a good architecture. All pictures were taken with an analog A1 Cannon camera using 35mm colored and black and white films. Almost all of it was photographed on trips. The drawings were made though the years, in notebooks or even in napkins.
