The materials come from propaganda sources created by the Fascist "Estado Novo" government, which ruled Portugal from 1926 up to 1974. Deal with caution. In spite of some chauvinist, pedant and affected writing, it is a very rich source of information and it should be read in light of that time. This Exposition was the last one in Europe before 1958, a last goodbye before darkness fell as was described beautifully by Saint-Exupéry in his book "Letter to a Hostage"
