One of our most active participants stopped by the Supply Center, knocked on our office window and exclaimed “HELLO, I just want to see you! I miss you all!” What a great treat to see Marian Walker! Marian! You made our day!!!

Congratulations to Melissa Starr and the Supply Center staff for being certified as a Senior Center of Excellence. This badge of honor and additional funding is rewarded through the NC Division of Aging and Adult Services!

Congratulations to Debra Lewis who is the winner of our Home Bingo! COVID19 has made it difficult to stay in daily contact and keep our Home Delivered Meals (HDM) clients. Sherrill Jolly, Supply administrative assistant, used the centers REGROUP platform to play At Home BINGO! The game began by having drivers deliver bingo cards to all the HDM recipients. Then, after creating a Regroup section for these clients, the calls began. Two numbers are announced each day. The game has been a win-win for the center: Clients know we care about you and hear from us on a daily basis, and the center still gets to interact with you every day.

When we think of self-care we typically think of eating healthy and exercising. However, self-care is any activity that takes care of our mental and physical health. It is important to note why self-care is significant.

Benefits of self-care:

Allows “Me Time”

Boosts immune system

Improves yourself

Here are some ways to incorporate self-care:

Take a bath: This helps manages stress and gives you a moment to yourself.

Meditate: Practice breathing strategies and stretches to help calm the mind.

Find a new hobby: Being creative will help you refocus your mind.

Get active: Whether it is dancing, exercising, walking, or cleaning, take some time to move your body.
