Have you ever wanted to ride in a spaceship? Well if you have here are some great facts that might help you when you go on your ride to space. In this, we will be talking about spaceships and their purpose. There have been many spaceships that have failed but also a lot that have been successful.
What are spaceships and what are they used for ?us
Spaceships are really interesting and have a ton of ways to help us. A spaceship is a vehicle or a machine that is made to fly out of the atmosphere. They are used for communications, earth observation, meteorology, navigation, space colonization, and planetary exploration. Without spaceships, we would not have discovered a lot of things.
Spaceship launches
There are around 130 to 200 spaceships launched a year. The most launched in a year was 285 and that was in 2014 and the least launched in a year was 3 and that was in 1957 which was also the first year spaceships were invented. Out of all the spaceships in the world 5,546 have had a successful launch and 435 have failed. The top three launchers in the world are Russia, USA, and Europe. Russia has launched 3,279 spaceships and 3,037 have been successful and 206 have failed. The USA has launched 1,674 out of those 1,517 have had a successful launch and 157 have failed. There has been a lot of fails but most times the launch is successful

Money spent on space exploration In 2004 the USA spent 11.8 trillion dollars on space exploration. The USA has a population of 0.3 billion people. Each year a person in the USA spends 54 dollars through tax payments for space exploration. In 2005 NASA budget was 16.2 billion and most of that budget comes from taxes.9 years later NASA budget was 17.2 billion dollars.

What are spaceships made of and why?
There are a lot of metals in spaceships but the main ones are titanium and aluminum. Spaceships need to be light and strong. They need to be light because then they have a greater chance of escaping earth’s gravitational pull with less fuel or propellant. The reason that they use titanium and aluminum is that aluminum is light and very sturdy and titanium can help strengthen the core of the ship.

Work cited 2.0 Lafleur, Claude. “Since 1957, We Are Launching an Average of 143 Spacecraft per Year. In All, 8,593 Spacecraft Were Launched between 1957 and Oct. 4, 2017. They Included Satellite (in Earth Orbit), Piloted Spaceship and Planetary Probe. The Left Graph Shows the Number of Spacecraft Launched Every Year. Color Red Represents Spacecraft Launched for Russia, Blue Represents Spacecraft Launched for the United States, Yellow Represents Other Governments (Europe, Japan, China, India, Canada, Israel & Other Governments) and Green Represents Non-Governmental Spacecraft (Commercial and Amateur/Student). This Graph Shows That 44% of Spacecraft Were Launched for Russia, 24% for the United States, 13% for Other Governments and 18% for Non-Governmental Entities (Private Sector and Amateur/Student). The Graph at Right Shows the Number of Spacecraft Launched in the Last Ten Years (2008-2017, Oct. 4). In the Last Five Years, More than 200 Spacecraft Were Launched Each Year; about 10% for Russia and for the United States, 25% for Other Governments and 55% for Non-Government.
