1.0 THREE RELATIONSHIPS

8
1.1 POINT / LINE / PLANE
For Point Line and Plane, I explored the idea of continuity and flow. I wanted to show how many different lines together at different angles can infact create a plane.
9
10
1.2 FRAME & INFILL
In frame and infill, I explored the concept of using the infill to create interesting spaces. So using the infill as a means to design. I looked at how placing infill in different ways can create different effects and lighting patterns and incorporated this into my models.
11
12
1.3 MASS
With Mass, I explored how to create a design that was both underneath and above the ground. I also was exploring how light can create different shadows and different effects when bouncing off different angles of solid surface.

14
3.0 HERRING ISLAND. SOMETHING LIKE A PAVILION
15
The topography is also important as I wanted to play around with the landscape and the different ground levels in my design.
16
Vegetation is an important aspect for my design as I was aiming at incorporating my design into the vegetation. I chose an area where there is a moderate amount of vegetation.
3.1 SITE ANALYSIS
Taking both vegetation and topography into account, the site I chose was in down the bottom of the island. I chose this site as it had a nice amount of vegetation to blend into the landscape, but not enough to effect the shape of the design. Also because there was a nice uneveness to the ground level, which would allow for my design to explore the ground levels.
17
18
3.2 CONCEPT AND SKETCH DESIGN
My concept is continuity and fusion. I wanted to work with continuous items and then explore the fusion of these items together, as well as with the landscape.

3.3 DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
I originally started working with triangles and having the continous elements fuse together to create interesting spaces. However after exploring this idea and receiving feedback, I decided to explore further with making my design fuse into the landscape a little bit more. So I changed some of the shapes and made them flow into the levels of the ground.

4.0 REFLECTION From completing this subject and the design work, I have learnt that there are many many steps needed to complete a good design. Right back to point line and plane, the ideas used in this section have been really incorporated into the final design, and there have been small but notable aspects from mass and frame and infill brought through also. I also learnt how important the site analysis is in determining the location of the design, In addition to this, I came to realise that the concept of the design is the most important part, if you dont have a good concept or idea then the design will easily not be good enough. One thing I found challenging about this subject was trying to get more familiar with photoshop and illustrator, but after continuoous use it got easier and easier.
