History is where we learn, grow, and lay the foundation for an inspiring future. Implementing adaptive reuse in future projects is not a bother but an honor.
In the 1880’s John Wetterer, a Cincinnati native, opened the Germania Brewery building located in the historic Brighton area just minutes away from Over the Rhine and Clifton. The brewery opened to honor Cincinnati’s German heritage through carefully crafted brews. While being a popular establishment in a very lively and self-sustaining neighborhood, beers and fond memories were shared by many before, unfortunately, closing due to the prohibition in 1920. After the prohibition the brewery became quickly forgotten.

PURPOSE
A Coworking Facility
The cherished Germania brewery will undergo a stunning transformation into a modern and innovative coworking space that advocates for the evolving realities of the COVID-19 workplace.
This ambitious project aims to revive a neglected neighborhood while promoting sustainability, flexibility, and collaboration. Mindful Brewing invites individuals from diverse backgrounds, specialties, and interests to interact in a stimulating environment that fosters creativity and productivity. The project’s emphasis on adaptive reuse showcases the possibilities of repurposing historical structures to support innovation and community development.
Each floor highlights a specific design driver in order to adhere to the myriad of productivity styles and preferences.

Color theory plays a vital role in the creation of this material palette. Teal is proven to promote clarity, open communication, practical thinking, and stress relief. Black and white adds a minimal effect to highlight the grandiose entity that is the Germania Brewery. Adding a bit of warmth from the camel color makes the environment feel more inviting.
