impressionable allison albrecht
abstract My project examines the concept of objects, memory and identity through three lenses of the implicit, the impermanent and the impalpable. The implicit defines an object in an easily describable and often physical way. The impermanent begins to describe the way in which things are constantly moving. We as humans are continuously changing and shifting, therefore our objects are as well. The idea of impermanence cannot often be seen, but it is still understood. Finally, the impalpable examines the element of objects which cannot be fully explained. It is not something that can be touched nor is it something that we can easily communicate to others. The impalpable expresses our attachment to inanimate things. This project begins to examine how we can translate all three of these qualities into a physical form. It looks at how these traits can be encapsulated through a tangible and visual piece. In addition my goals for the project were to create something that holds objects, has a presence of objects once they are removed, has a relationship with the container and can be physically moved.
