Interior Design Capstone 21’ by Courtney Smith

March 23rd, 2021

The inspiration for my capstone project started from the restless desire I had to travel when the world went on pause back in March of 2020. Leisure travel and accommodations have evolved over the past decade and even more since the pandemic started. A shift from mega hotel chains to locally immersive more personalized stays are growing. Along side this shift there has been an increase in solo traveling, a desire to experience cultures that are uniquely individual.

So What If the hotel could create a more personal and culturally rich accommodation but still provide the sociable and luxurious qualities that hotels can provide? Creating a detached unit allows for the traveler to have a personal and locally immersive stay while still having amenities close by for connection to a like minded community.
