Role Overview:
The role of the Food Technology Technician is to support the Food Technology teachers in providing an efficient and effective environment for teaching and learning. The work varies throughout the school year and is closely linked to the tasks identified in the schemes of work.
Main Responsibilities:
Management of the food preparation areas and equipment to ensure that a high standard of safety and hygiene are maintained at all times.
1. Preparation of materials for lessons including weighing ingredients and setting up appropriate equipment for practical lessons and demonstrations
2. To support the teacher during practical lessons by helping students to work safely and hygienically
3. Stock control and weekly ordering of ingredients for practical lessons; sourcing and ordering packaging, equipment and other resources

4 Working with the HOD to ensure the budget is not exceeded and that resources are sourced at a competitive price

6. Administrative tasks requiring use of Microsoft Teams, PowerPoint and Word
7. Support teachers in creating classroom displays
8. Carrying out other duties which the Head of Department may reasonably request.

Qualifications and Experience
Previous experience working in a similar role within a school or food-related environment is desirable.
Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations, with relevant certification preferred (e.g., Food Hygiene Certificate)
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively and manage time efficiently.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Proficiency in using kitchen equipment and utensils, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs and demands of a school environment. Commitment to promoting a positive learning experience for pupils and fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.
