Please can each team provide one scorer per game (this can be a player; the player can change at half time or if needed to be subbed on). Score cards will be provided. Scorers must stand next to each other when scoring. The score must be agreed by both teams at the end of the game. Please hand score cards to the court leader (Y7 Miss Bashford - Y8 Mrs Wates - Y9 Mrs Holt - Y10 Mrs Costin & Miss Newton) at the end of each game.
• 5 points will be allocated for a win.
• 2 points will be allocated for a draw.
• 1 point will be allocated for a > 50% of oppositions score.
The winner of House Netball will be the team with the most points. If teams are tied on points positions will be decided by; then goal difference; then goal average; then total goals scored; the total goals conceded; then the result of the game between the two teams. If teams are still tied the captains will play “rock”, “paper”, “scissors” to decide the outcome.

Head Injuries & Concussion
Concussion is a complex process caused by trauma that transmits force to the brain either directly or indirectly and results in temporary impairment of brain function. Its development and resolution are rapid and spontaneous. Ultimately if you are unsure at any stage if a player has a head injury or is concussed you should seek medical attention. Listed below are some of the possible signs of concussion.
Headaches - It is only normal after a blow to the head to suffer a mild headache. There could be some bruising or mild swelling over the scalp which may be tender, but this doesn’t necessarily mean a player has concussion. If the headache seems to be getting worse this could be a cause for concern so seek medical attention.
Drowsiness - means they cannot be roused. It can be common for players to want to sleep for a short time (especially children), and it will be okay to let them do so. If there are further concerns you can wake them a few times during the night, especially if a knock on the head has happened just before bedtime. If, on the other hand, they are difficult to wake or show signs of confusion, seek medical attention.
Other Symptoms - Confusion, unsteadiness, memory loss and convulsiveness.
If players show any signs of the above they should seek medical attention. These are merely guidelines as you know your student better than anyone else, but please remember signs and symptoms could take up to 48 hours to develop and should be monitored.
Berkhamsted School takes all head injuries seriously and all members of PE staff are First Aid trained and follow the RFU Head Case protocol if a student sustains a head injury.
School match days are also covered by the 1st XV physiotherapist, as well as Pro Medicus Ambulance who are available if there are concerns.
In serious cases students would be referred to a local hospital (listed at the beginning of the programme) as they would with any other serious injury.
