Howstarted it all

Bridgeland High School, first founded in 2016, is the 12th high school in the Cy-Fair Independent School District. Opening in the 2017-2018 school year, and welcoming two classes. Not only did students walk into a new school, they also walked into school in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. They were able to persevere and welcome the new challenges. In 2018-2019 it welcomed its second freshmen class, now having three classes going to the school. As the school welcomed new students it also welcomed depressing losses and great efforts. The 2019-2020 came as Bridgeland welcomed another class, and finally had their first senior class. The Football team would make it to state, and many other organizations would take home awards.

Students & Lockers:

In movies and TV shows, there are almost always food fights in the cafeteria during lunch times. However, at BHS food fights are not allowed. Students will stay in their seats and enjoy their food until the bell rings.

Like any high school movie or TV show, there are plenty of lockers in the hallway. However, at BHS lockers are only used by students involved in specific electives.

It’s weird how the ch aracters on TV and in movies never actually seem to be doing work. They are always wandering around the hallways , in the gym or in the cafeteria. However, BHS students are alw at ays expected to be present in class, an wandering around d the hallways is not permitted.

Singing & Dancing In The Hallways: Sadly, BHS is not like “High School

Musical.” You will rarely see people singing and dancing in the hallways, unless you encounter choir or theater kids.

Cafeteria Food:

At BHS, the school lunch will never be as bad as it appears in movies and TV shows. Stude nts will never be served some str ange looking and qu estionable meat. Food service s offers meals to acc ommodate all diet choices and alle rgies.

clear bag policy what are... Mums& garters Bridgeland like all CFISD Middle and High Schools enforces a clear bag policy. Clear Backpacks and Totes are allowed. See the QR code below for more information.

Part of a long-standing Texas Homecoming tradition, Mums and Garters are Homecoming staples. They’re seen as an important Texas tradition and activity and are worn on the Friday of the Homecoming game. A Mum is a large arrangement of various ribbons, bells, charms, flowers, and other things sewn, glued, or taped together to form a unique design. Typically, mums are worn by girls, whilst garters are worn by boys. When it comes to wearing these creations, mums go around the neck and garters go around the forearm. It’s common that mums and garters are designed by dates for their date, to be later exchanged. Underclassmen wear school colors, juniors wear white, navy and silver, and seniors wear silver, and white at Bridgeland for Homecoming.

Etiquette bridgeland In

games:

At games, make sure you pay attention to your surroundings. When the cheerleading team and Claw Crew do their cheers, try to participate to boost the team’s morale. When in the student section, you are surrounded by students, so make sure not to be a distraction for them by making TikToks or using foul language. Finally, never talk when someone is injured on the playing field because it will be disrespectful to the student that is injured.

hallwa y:

Be mindful that the library won’t always have the books you’re looking for - if the book isn’t at school, you can ask Mrs. Keene to order it. When visiting the library at lunch, be aware that you cannot eat. The second floor of the library is off-limits to all students unless given permission to enter. Whenever the library is hosting pets, such as Birdie the hedgehog, be mindful of rules regarding handling them.

Library

Parking lot:

cafeteria:

12

Students should always walk on the right side of the hallway in order to minimize traffic. While moving from class to class, don’t play music through speakers or showcase PDA. Keep your voices at a minimum and don’t stop in the middle of crowded hallways - walk at a fast pace so you and your peers can get to class and not risk getting a tardy.

For all students and parents, there are lots of unspoken rules regarding the parking lot. For starters, never park in a student’s reserved parking spot. If that student complains about your car being there, it will get towed, and APs sometimes look through the parking lot. When a student leaves school early or arrives late, parents must use the front entrance and not the band lot. At the end of the day, students who can drive must be mindful of everyone’s time, merging when needed and not blocking students from leaving their parking spots.

The Cafeteria is probably one of the most important places in the school. Not only for social interaction but also because of food. Even though Bridgeland has a great custodial team, students should always remember to clean up after themselves. This means leaving the tables as clean as you found them, and leaving promptly when told to. Also, remember to not cut in line!

How to Switch Classes In regards to switching classes, the last day to make a schedule change request was the last day of school. At this time students cannot make schedule change requests due to the Master Schedule being completed and teachers needing to attend training for their classes over the summer. The only changes that can currently be made would be a level change if the student qualifies to move to a higher level course or to move to a lower level course. Classes are chosen for the entire school year during the previous school year, and unfortunately changes cannot be accommodated at semester.

FinesandFees

It is up to the teacher/sponsor/ organization to determine if their fees will be put on School Cash. We place ID fees on School Cash and attach them to students weekly as needed. Most clubs and classes will put their fees on School Cash and attach them to students involved. Some fundraisers may be put on School Cash. Fees placed on School Cash are either attached to a group of students or there might be a link that is distributed only to those needing it. Typically this happens when the fee will be paid by people not assigned to BHS (community members or students at another school).

How to Make Step One:

Friends

The Approach

Meeting someone new is all about putting yourself out there. On your first day, if you see someone in one of your classes that seems interesting to you, start a conversation. A great first impression can be made with a compliment and asking them a few basic questions.

Step TWO:

Assert Your Intent

Try not to say just one thing to a person and then never speak to them again, especially if you are trying to become their friend. Most teachers don’t give out a seating chart for classes until students have picked their seats on the first day of school. Sitting next to someone is a surefire way to get to know them during the grading period.

Step Three:

Talk to them Consistently

Small talk is not a crime when starting out. An important part of getting to know someone is making sure you can feel relaxed around each other. A true friendship cannot blossom if both parties are constantly afraid of what the other thinks about them. Even asking to be partners for a project is a good way to keep a relationship aflame.

Step four:

Hangout outside of the Classroom

Most friendships made in school only last for that year. If you want to make friends that will last you for your entire high school career, make sure that you talk to them in non-school settings. Going shopping together or even watching a movie is a perfect way to show that you want them in your life.

Step five:

If all Fails, Join a Club

Sometimes, finding a friend inside of your classes is difficult. If that happens, you can join a club that is revolving around your interests. That way, you can meet people that you already have things in common with.
