Learning Support Assistant with specific skills and knowledge in how to support a student with developmental delay Duties & Responsibilities 

Key Duties & Responsibilities o Fulfilling the role of Learning Support Assistant for a student with developmental delay applying techniques to optimise learning, increase independence and maximise focus in the classroom. o Pre-viewing and reviewing concepts and skills learnt in the classroom, in liaison with the classteacher o Planning scaffolded and modified tasks in all subject areas, in liaison with the classteacher o Using a variety of teaching techniques such as: reinforcing, modeling, questioning, observing, demonstrating and prompting. o Working with the classteacher, and parents, to progress and monitor the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP). Please see the specific requirements for mathematics o Keeping updated in the latest research. o Working closely with other professionals including the Speech therapist o Applying multidisciplinary learnings/techniques in the school environment; these need to maximise the student’s ability to rote learn carefully accumulated knowledge transfer and skills acquisition o Implementing the required eating programme and support with strategic playdates. o Liaising with the parents and classteacher of any concerns or specific information pertaining to the child. o Maintaining a high-level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information always.

Administrative o Accurately completing all required evidence of learning in an accurate, consistent and timely manner (where requested by classteacher/AEN leader) o Participating in meetings to discuss progress with multi-disciplinary team and parents. o Contributing to the professional communication of student’s progress to parents.

Outreach o Contributing to all communication with the classteacher / parents / therapists, which will be coordinated by the Lead AEN teacher. o Liaising with the parents, to ensure they have input in all the development of educational programmes.

Qualifications & Experience o Holds a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline e.g. Psychology. o Has at least 3-5 years of experience working with children with additional educational needs o Communicates clearly and effectively with teachers and multi-disciplinary colleagues. o Sets a good example in terms of conduct, punctuality and attendance. o Creates a supportive and cohesive environment. o Always behaves respectfully and sensitively to cultural and religious norms and values. o Communicates in a professional and respectful manner with teachers, parents and therapists. o Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships within a multidisciplinary team.
