The dinner is on Tuesday 5th August, 7pm-11.30pm At The Grand on Princes, 2251 Princes Hwy Mulgrave. Buses will be leaving from Car Park 11 (across from MB) at 6pm. Buses will return you back to res, leaving the venue around 11.30pm.

Tickets can be purchased from Resi Reception and are $35. There are tables of 10, but please be aware that some tables may be consolidated if they are not filled.

Tickets can ONLY be purchased using your Deakin Card (load money online: http://www.deakin.edu.au/life-at-deakin/services-and-facilities/deakin-card) You can ONLY purchase a ticket for yourself. It will be a night of dancing, fun award presentations and delicious food! The Formal Dinner is often described as the top resi event for the year, so be sure to buy your ticket soon! Limited seats available!

Leadership Info Night Are you interested in taking on a leadership role at res in 2015? We will be running an information session about Residential Leaders and the BEARS committees on Monday 4th August at 6.45pm. Attending this session is mandatory if you wish to be eligible to apply. You will need to bring your Deakin Card to the session as this is how we will be registering your attendance. So come along and learn more about how you can get involved and make a difference in the res community!

Res Sport Helpers Needed! If you are interested in helping out with resi sport, please come and see Jono at the MB Rec Room on Friday 25th July at 11:30am.

We need people to assist with the running of activities, umpiring, scoring and sorting out equipment. This could be a great opportunity for people interested in a 2015 leadership position to get a head-start on contributing to the res community.

Language Exchange Program Have you ever thought of learning a language? Planning a trip somewhere and wanting to learn some simple phrases? Deakin Language Exchange Program is for you! The program is starting on res next Tuesday 29th July! It will be from 5pm in the MB Rec Room and food is provided! Lock-outs It is accepted that residents at some time during their stay at res will accidentally lock themselves out of their room. If this should happen, you will need to come to the reception office to receive a spare key to let yourself in and then return.

All lockouts are recorded by reception staff.

If any resident is locked out of their unit or room more than twice during the year they will be charged $10 for every subsequent lockout.

Borrowing from the office Want to use a soccer ball? A vacuum? Play Twister? Come to Resi Reception! We have an extensive range of sporting, cleaning equipment, board games and DVDs for you to borrow. We also now have 4 X-Box controllers and a range of new games to borrow. Just bring your Deakin ID card to leave with us until your return the goods.

SafeZone App SafeZone is a free app for all students and staff, that connects you directly to the Deakin security team when you need help while you are on campus. You’ll be able to get urgent help if you feel threatened or are the victim of an assault or robbery, and call for First Aid or Help in less urgent situations. When you raise an alarm or call for help, all on-campus security team members will be alerted to your situation and location so that they can coordinate to help you quickly and effectively. Vacation Work—Recruiting Now! Vacation Work provides you with great discipline-related skills and experience for students going into final year next year. To assist students keep informed, Deakin Jobshop is hosting a Vacation Work Expo: TOMORROW Thursday 24 July, 2014 1-2.30pm Hd2.006 Richard Searby Room (behind Caffeine and Sage)

Two kitchen-hand positions are now available in addition to the below. Hospitality 1 is about to launch an exciting new hospitality venture at Deakin University in Burwood, opening mid August. It will be a bistro catering for 150 patrons including a large North facing terrace. It will also have a large state of the art 200+ patron function/events space.

We are now recruiting a new team for FOH, Barista, bar, function and catering positions to join our expanding hospitality company. Recipe of the Week Chicken and Cheese Chimichangas Serves 4

Ingredients · 1/2 Coles Brand Hot Roast Chicken, meat removed and shredded ·

200 g jar Old El Paso Medium Taco Sauce

·

8 Soft Tortillas

·

400 g can Old El Paso Refried Beans

·

1 Bunch English Spinach, trimmed

·

1 Red Capsicum, cut into strips

·

1 cup Tasty Grated Cheese

·

Cooking spray

·

1 Small Iceberg Lettuce, cut into wedges

·

1/2 cup Light Sour Cream

·

Lime Wedges, to serve

Method 1. Place chicken meat and taco sauce into a small bowl. Mix to combine. Lay tortillas on a clean work surface. Spread 2 tbsp refried beans over each tortilla. Top with spinach leaves, chicken, capsicum and 1 tbsp cheese. Roll up tortilla, tucking in ends, to enclose filling.

2. Put cooking spray into frying pan and put on medium. Cook chimichangas, in batches, adding extra oil when needed, for 2-3 mins, turning, until golden all over. 3. Drizzle remaining oil over lettuce wedges. Serve chimichangas with lettuce, sour cream and lime wedges.
