Through the years, the Auction Gala has always been the single largest fundraising event of the school year. It has also served as a wonderful “Community Building” event where everyone in the BT community can come together, renew old friendships, make new ones and support BT, all at the same time. #FLYHIGHMAX Due to the generosity of artist Scott Campbell, a unique opportunity to support both the Blessed Trinity Catholic High School Auction and the Max Gruver Foundation exists. Scott Campbell has donated 8 original works of art to the Blessed Trinity Auction. Proceeds from the sale of the art will be split 50/50 between Blessed Trinity and the Max Gruver Foundation. Max Gruver, a graduate of the Blessed Trinity class of 2017, was a freshman at LSU, majoring in political journalism, when he passed away unexpectedly on September 14, 2017. The Max Gruver Foundation is a non-profit organization working to end hazing on college campuses. In the United States there has been at least one hazing death each year since 1961. In 2017, there were four. The Max Gruver Foundation, and the funds it raises, are directed towards ensuring that hazing has no place on college campuses. To support both the Foundation and the school Max loved, Mr. Campbell has generously donated multiple works of art from his Black Sanctity Series to our Auction. Black Sanctity was created during a dark period of loss for the artist, who would spend quiet moments of reflection throughout Catholic churches in New York City. It was during this period he chose to harness the energy of faith and finding light in periods of darkness through his work. To visibly push the boundaries of finding light out of darkness, Scott chose to create all of the work using only black watercolors, creating images by infusing black watercolors with ink to pull color and light into the depths of their darkness. Scott Campbell’s pieces in the Black Sanctity line have been framed by Haruo Kimura, one of the exclusive framers for the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Each work floats purposefully in a white frame, symbolizing the light coming out of moments of darkness, its full effects truly appreciable without the obstruction that the glare of glass would cause. Mr. Campbell is one of the most talented tattoo and fine artists in the world. His client list includes art and design elite, fashion designers and a long roster of celebrities. He is also known for his work in visual arts, most notably his intricately carved sculptures made of U.S. currency, his graphite drawings and his series of watercolors. Live Auction Regulations Live Auction items will be on display throughout the evening, and may also be previewed on BidPal. To enter a bid, a Bidder must signal (by raising their hand) and be acknowledged by the Auctioneer. The Highest Bidder acknowledged by the Auctioneer will be the Buyer. A BidPal volunteer will confirm with you your name and bid. In the event of a dispute, the Director of Advancement will have the final decision to determine the successful bidder. Group purchases are welcome. However, one person must be responsible for the bidding and for notifying an auction official as to the names of the buyers and how the winning bid is to be distributed among the group. Each successful bid will be recorded by an auction official and entered on the buyer’s auction account.
