International Festival of Argentine Tango celebrates their 9th edition to mid- February 2020 Adriana Saez

Join the major Tango experience together to the pleasures of the winter in the wonderful Helsinki in Finland

For one intense weekend in mid-winter, a ery South American dance takes over a calm, snow-covered Nordic capital, creating a unique blend of Northern and Southern elements and a perfect meeting place for local and foreign dancers united by their love of Argentine tango.

9th International Festival of Argentine Tango offers tango workshops for students of all levels from absolute beginners to experienced “Tangueros”, Argentine folklore, breathtaking Performances, Live Music on Saturday, a great DJ lineup, Milongas day, and night from Thursday evening until Monday morning, refreshingly cool weather, and plenty of warm and welcoming embraces!

All events in this 9th edition will take place at the following 3 locations. (All within 2 kilometers or less of each other):

1. Teatterikorkeakoulu / Theatre Academy (Haapaniemenkatu 6, 00530 Helsinki): All Tango & Folklore Workshops Day Milongas Back to the beginning! The workshops will be held in the same place where it all started almost ten years ago: The Theatre Academy of the University of the Arts, "Teak". The intensive course for beginners will be held at El Ático.

2. Konepaja-sali / The Train Factory (Aleksis Kiven katu 17, 00510 Helsinki): Evening Milongas on Friday & Saturday. The brand-new venue only ve minutes' walk from the Amigos del Tango Dance Studio El Ático. Konepajasali is located in an old train factory complex and represents the beautiful industrial architecture of the beginning of the 20th century. When you get thirsty you can buy

buy refreshments at the legendary Bar Corona, located in the same building.

3. El Ático (Kumpulantie 1, 00520 Helsinki): Evening Milongas on Thursday & Sunday After-parties On Thursday and Sunday evening and at every after-party of the festival, we will be dancing at El Ático, the dance studio of the local tango association. Also, the intensive course for beginners will be held at El Ático.

SOLO TANGO ORQUESTA (RU) This orchestra was an essential part of the earliest years of the festival, and they are now returning to Helsinki for the rst time since 2015. If you have not experienced Saturday night at Tango Frostbite with

Solo Tango yet, you are in for a treat! You will be blown away by the energy, virtuosity and contagious sense of fun displayed by this quartet from Moscow - and you will dance!

25 Solo Tango Orquesta, founded in 2010, has gained international recognition incredibly rapidly and is the only European Tango Orchestra that has been nominated for the rst international “Premios Tango” awards (Buenos Aires / March 2018). They have performed in the best concert halls of the world, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Big Hall of the Moscow conservatory, the Thaikovsky concert hall, Seoul National Theater, and others.

The sound of this band can be described as one with a perfect sense of style, powerful energy and high quality of performance. Their repertoire includes complex Tango songs that sound great at major concert halls, and also the best Tangos of the “Golden Age”, which makes them convenient and comfortable to dance to at the Milongas.
