Green Ambassadors Green Ambassadors can be any student studying at Bournemouth University who is committed to creating a culture of sustainability at BU. Their main role is to engage with their fellow students to promote and educate on green living through a range of fun and interactive events, campaigns, competitions and media. The role of the Green Ambassadors is to: •

Raise Awareness of BU Environmental Campaigns on campus

Be a visible point of contact for BU students to raise environmental concerns

Attend training workshops on communicating for sustainability, designed to give you the information and tools to be an effective ambassador.

Attend the SUBU Green meetings (3 or 4 hours per term) to discuss, organise and develop events and activities within the University on ‘Green’ matters (energy saving, recycling, travel, water, Fairtrade etc).

Attend the BU Fairtrade Steering Group Meetings (FTSG) where lecture timetabling allows. (1.5 hours per term)

Work with SUBU Green and the BU Environment & Energy Team to support, develop and coordinate ‘green’ campaigns on Campus through attending/running events and working on projects.

Assist the coordination of ‘The Village Green’ & Cranborne Big Green Challenge’ energy saving and recycling competitions within the Student Village & Cranborne House; to champion and adjudicate the competition.

To manage the Green Ambassadors Facebook page and Twitter Feed, strictly adhering to BU guidelines

Participate in events including; o

University Green Week (21-25 October 2013)

o

Fairtrade Fortnight (24 Feb – 9 March)

o

Bike Week (24-28 March)

You will be: •

Passionate about sustainability, the environment and ‘green’ issues

A good communicator, keen to engage with fellow students

Enjoy designing/developing communications and running events

Keen to have your say and represent the opinions of other students on green issues around the University.

Application process: Please fill in the online application form, or if you would prefer to apply via e-mail please e-mail gfrog@bournemouth.ac.uk . Applications for the role will close at 4pm on the 10 th of October. Short-listed applicants will be asked to participate in a group selection workshop on October 15th at 12pm-1.30pm. The 8 successful applicants will be in place by the 17 th of October. (Applicants will be in post for the autumn and spring terms in order that their roles do not interfere with their exams/dissertation deadlines. Although you can participate in activities in the final term should you wish).
