ANNUAL REPORT
LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT TERRY BUCKNER
“
There is little doubt that 2020 has been a roller coaster of a ride for us all. Through the first two months, we enjoyed working in one of the hottest economies we have had in years. This was followed by a massive implosion beginning March 11th, as the seriousness of the pandemic became a reality. Since then, we have seen rebounds and plunges as the news of the pandemic changed–seemingly by the hour. Stack on top of that social unrest, a highly contentious political campaign season, and the most named hurricanes to make landfall in decades. 2020 will certainly go down in the history books as the year the world seemed to change. Despite the uncertainties, our team has risen to the occasion to fulfill our commitments to our clients and their risk management/employee benefits needs. Under the guidance of our Executive Vice President Frank Lancaster, our support team quickly pivoted to service our clients remotely–without skipping a beat. Within hours, our technology team made sure we were all connected remotely and able to correspond with clients and underwriters. We are proud to say that we have been able to maintain our entire work force–though many of them we have missed seeing “in person.”
ANNUAL REPORT
As for our client advisors, this year has been particularly challenging for them. In addition to the difficulty of doing business during Covid-19, insurance carriers have become particularly conservative in their underwriting. The results have caused a fair amount of upheaval among our clients, causing us to move or restructure insurance programs to fit within the changing marketplace. Christian Deputy, our Chief Sale Officer has done a masterful job in tutoring our client advisors on how to navigate these very choppy waters.
WE VIEW THESE TIMES AS AN OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE US BETTER- AND WE HAVE DONE THAT. Yes, 2020 has been a challenging year–but as the CEO of this great company, I remain both proud and humbled as to the success we have enjoyed. We are poised to continue to bring the best our industry must give to meet the needs and expectations of our clients, carriers, associates and communities in which we serve.
