An employer’s guide to the

REGISTERED NURSE DEGREE APPRENTICESHIP BSc (Hons) Nursing (Adult, Child and Mental Health)

At Buckinghamshire New University we have a history of excellence in healthcare education and have been approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council to run undergraduate nursing programmes for many years. The Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship programme is run over three and a half years and is suitable for development of Healthcare Workers to Registered Nurses and may be used to support recruitment of new apprentices to your organisation. The Nursing Degree Apprenticeship programme is aligned to our successful BSc (Hons) Nursing programme 2016 and supports employers to develop their healthcare staff towards registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council in either Adult, Child or Mental Health fields of nursing. The apprentice must successfully complete the BSc (Hons) Nursing (mapped to the apprenticeship standard for Registered Nurse) and the End Point Assessment to complete their apprenticeship. The programme consists of theoretical and clinical hours and apprentices must complete a range of experiences in different healthcare settings. Our innovative simulation suite and high fidelity equipment and mannequins are utilised to enhance the student learning experience and has won the Teaching Excellence category in the Guardian University Awards 2016. This programme also allows students who have successfully completed the Foundation Degree: Assistant Practitioner or the Foundation Degree: Nursing Associate to apply to the University for accredited prior learning (APL/APEL) and commence the programme in Stage 2.
