Moving Far From Home
I come from Bury, near Manchester, so the decision to move quite a long way from home was not an easy one. I chose BNU because my course is very unique, combining training to become a commercial pilot with an honours degree, giving me the chance to experience university with strong employability at the end.
So far, I am loving my time at university and it is ticking every box for me. I was rather nervous moving to a town I knew little about. However, within just two hours of meeting my flatmates and going out on the first night I already felt right at home, it was great.
I live in Hughenden Park Student Village, which is ideal being only a 15 minute walk to uni but close to beautiful countryside too. Hughenden has a great atmosphere and you soon get to know everyone, especially during the welcome week which was brilliant. The Students’ Union organised loads of great events and nights out, from club nights to quiz nights and mixers to the Freshers Fair, which was a great place to sign up for societies and grab freebies.
