Courses built around you

Choose to learn your way. Combine options and opportunity modules and study what’s important to you.

In years one and two you will choose from a range of opportunity modules that are of specific relevance to you and your future goals.

Choose from a range of opportunities including

• gaining academic credit for the volunteering work you do through our Students’ Union

• project work around sustainability

• developing your skills as an entrepreneur; and more.

Year

Your common first year means that rather than having to make your big career decision before you join us, we will introduce you to various specialisms and offer you the flexibility to choose the pathway which suits you. You will study with others who are doing closely related courses to get a great all-round immersion in your subject.

It could be that your academic interests and career aspirations may change as a result. We offer you the flexibility to decide on the best career path for you based on all of the support and resources we give you, including employer projects and briefs and real-life working examples of applying your degree in the workplace.

Our students can benefit from handson learning by taking part in meaningful industry-based experience. This may be an employer or workplace-led project, work placements or industry experience, helping to give you the skills and knowledge you need for life after uni.

You’ll also benefit from our new Opportunity modules, a suite of short, but high impact, modules covering areas such as business basics/entrepreneurship, sustainability, technology and impact. These are designed to help you stand out when looking for jobs and bolster your employability prospects, giving you the skills and knowledge employers are looking for.

You’ll benefit from working with other students across the whole of the University, bringing your own unique skills and knowledge from your discipline to work with colleagues and produce big results that you can be personally very proud of.

Apprenticeships

Flexible study options

There’s more than one way to get a degree these days. You’ll find plenty of flexible study options and routes to learning with us.

Degree apprenticeships

Degree apprenticeships offer a flexible and professional education, allowing you to obtain a degree while continuing to build practical experience in your workplace. We work with employers to offer Degree Apprenticeships in a wide range of professions.

You’ll study at the University alongside your job, accessing relevant training to achieve a higher or degree-level qualification and progress in your chosen career. With funding from your employer and the government, you’ll earn a salary whilst learning.

Part-time study options

We offer lots of part-time programmes for our students who want to fit their studies around other commitments, such as work and family.

As a part-time student, you’ll cover the same content as a full-time programme. Your learning will just be spread out over a longer period. Many people find this extra flexibility makes studying a lot more manageable.
