We’ve designed our education and early years degree programmes to help turn your enthusiasm into practical skills and to kick start a fulfilling career.
At Buckinghamshire New University, you’ll be taught by great lecturers, knowledgeable practitioners and experienced educators. They’ll inspire you to become a motivating and empowering early years professional or teacher and can be a useful stepping stone into teacher training, such as a PGCE.
We offer an in-depth curriculum, helping our students to develop as thoughtful and flexible practitioners, able to act as advocates for young children.
By studying with us, you’ll develop the deep insight and knowledge you need to become a valued and trusted support for the children and families you work with in your future career.
We are well placed to draw on our links with employers, and the strength of our academic team, to keep our courses in this area highly relevant and evidence-based.
Our lecturers are experts and have rich experiences to share that will make your learning come to life. They’re former practitioners themselves meaning they can tell you all about the realities of working with children in different settings. It also means that what you learn in the classroom will always be linked to real-life practice. You’ll also have the opportunity to go on placements, hear from guest speakers and gain regular practice-based opportunities. It’s important to us that we provide you with not only the academic theory but also the practical experience you’ll need to step into your future confidently.
You’ll gain the skills and knowledge you need for a successful career in a range of areas, such as early years leadership; training roles; teaching; social work; special needs; play therapy and more.
At BNU, there’s always someone there to talk to and share your experiences with. Best of all, you’ll have the opportunity to meet and work with front-line professionals who will understand exactly what you’re going through. They can help prepare you to feel confident and resilient for whatever path you choose beyond graduation.
