CAMPUS TOUR GUIDE


DIXON-EILERS HALL

BUSINESS OFFICE, REGISTRAR, FINANCIAL AID, & HUMAN RESOURCES • Visit the Business Office or pay online to make your tuition and parking sticker payments. • Class registration, academic questions, and academic action submissions happen through the Registrar.

• Looking for a job? Human Resources can show you the variety of workstudy or non-work-study positions on campus!


WELLNESS CENTER • Health Services has two registered nurses available for free consultations, flu shots, or tests such as COVID-19 and strep throat, to name a few! If needed, they can set up an appointment with local doctors! • Free counseling services are available to students by appointment.

• A relaxation room lets you look over the lake as you sit in a massage chair or color to the sound of crashing waves or birds singing!


TUNNELS • Connecting the north end of campus to the south end, you can go across campus without worrying about the winter temperatures!

• This spacious and cozy underground system connects the Pierce-White Residence Halls to the Forum, allowing access to The Serve, Harold Walter Siebens School of Business, Spirit Store, Mail Room, Cru5h, Library, and Dixon-Eilers among other spaces.


SIEBENS FORUM ESPORTS • Let your competitive side shine by going head-to-head against institutions across the nation, right from the comfort of campus! • Over the last couple of years, the team has grown exponentially, expanding into three separate spaces, including the competitive arena. • Games include Rainbow Six Siege, Rocket League, Call of Duty, Madden, Fortnite, League of Legends, FIFA, iRacing, and Valorant.


LIBRARY • Introducing a student-oriented study environment, the main floor of the library offers various study spaces from traditional tables and desks to private study rooms. • Librarians are eager to assist students in identifying online academic databases and journals that students have access to in order to begin the research phase of assigned projects. • From librarians to tutoring help, and even technology help, the library offers a variety of services vital to student success.

2FIX • Our free technology help service is willing to look at and help diagnose issues you may have with any devices. • We ask students to bring their own device, whether Windows or Mac-based, but we don’t recommend Chromebooks.

• BVU offers free Microsoft products to students! Download Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and other programs directly to your device while enjoying 1 TB of cloud storage!


CENTER FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE (CAE) • Free tutoring services are offered to all students, whether you are struggling with a class or just wanting to raise your grade. • Academic accommodations can be arranged here as needed.

• Struggle with time management or academic planning? The support staff is eager to help.

COMMON GROUNDS COFFEE SHOP • Get a little pep in your step with delicious baked goods, sandwiches, beverages, or Starbucks. • One out of two locations you can use your BeaverBucks! • Find a booth and study in a relaxing coffee shop setting.

LEHNUS CAMPUS SPIRIT STORE • Stock up on your Beaver gear with new apparel changing by the season.

• From hoodies to hats and mugs to flags, there’s something for everyone in the Spirit Store. • No books here! Our bookstore is strictly online where you can easily order all your required texts in one convenient place.

MAILROOM • No need to worry about new addresses or combinations, keep one mailbox for your entire time here! • Easily send and receive packages.

• Ordering textbooks? Send them straight to your campus address and they’ll be waiting for you when you get here.

CRU5H • Our on-campus restaurant offers an alternative to traditional cafeteria-style dining. • The perfect place to use your BeaverBucks!

• Enjoy a game of pool, darts, or other games with friends before or after your meal.


SIEBENS FORUM GEISINGER STUDENT LEADERSHIP CENTER (GSLC) • Home to over 50 different student clubs and organizations, it’s almost guaranteed there’s something for you. • Don’t see a club you would like? It’s easy to start your own.

THE SERVE • Offering a buffet-style meal, take your pick from a variety of stations that include the daily dish, pasta station, salad bar, sub/sandwich station, pizza station, and a grill.

• Have dietary restrictions? A station is dedicated to common restrictions and the staff can ensure meals are ready for you. • Soak in the beautiful view through the arch windows overlooking the patio, lawn, football field, and lake as you enjoy your meal.



GAME ROOM • Conveniently connecting Pierce and White Resident Halls to the Forum, it’s the perfect place to make a pit stop!

• Ping pong, foosball, carpet ball, arcade games, and much more. • Have a Sunday football watch party in the open cubicles!

STUDENT SUCCESS • Houses two main resources for students: Residence Life and Campus Security. • Each residence floor has a residential assistant (RA) to create a welcoming environment and ease the transition to college. • 24/7/365, Campus Security is here for your safety whenever you need it, even if you get locked out of your room!

CENTER FOR DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION (CDI) • The city of Storm Lake is one of the most diverse communities in Iowa, and the CDI serves as a hub for multicultural student organizations to utilize and thrive.

• Join community leaders and clubs in couch discussions and presentations.

• Also houses our campus chaplain who helps organize nondenominational worship services.


SIEBENS FORUM CAREER AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT • Not sure what to major in? Success coaches are eager to discuss your interests and help you find your dream field and job! • An extra set of eyes always helps. Our success team is here to help you work on your resume and cover letter.

• Fancy dinners and interviews can be scary, but our success team works hard to organize an Etiquette Dinner and Mock Interviews so you can feel confident when you walk through the Arch at graduation.

ROBERT L. PETERSON COMMODITY TRADING ROOM • With a ticker scrolling through live stock market prices, classes take advantage of this room to start trading.

• Surrounded by glass walls, you quickly become accustomed to the business setting. • Interactive displays allow you and professors to browse projections and reports.


• One of the landmarks of BVU, the Arch is the only standing piece left of our original academic building, Old Main, that burned down in a fire. • Your journey at BVU starts by walking through the Arch to the east on move-in day and ends on graduation by going through to the west! • Avoid passing through the Arch more than twice! According to legend, doing so beyond those two occasions could result in failing your next exam or a major course...

THE ARCH


FLOORS • Enjoy a common lounge area to watch TV or play games with your neighbors! • Each floor is co-ed with women on one and men on the other side, along with a bathroom for each. • RA’s host different activity nights throughout the year.

SKYWALK AND SKYBOX • Enjoy one of the prettiest views of campus overlooking the football field and lake! • Gather with friends for a movie night or study session.

• Too cold or rainy outside? Soak in games from this comfortable space and see all the action.

KITCHENS • Each residence hall has a community kitchen with a full fridge and freezer for your use, just make sure to label what’s yours!

• Don’t want to go to the Serve? Cook your own meals with pots and pans available to you in the kitchens, just make sure to clean up after yourself. • Flip on your favorite show and enjoy your meal with friends in a comfortable lounge.


PIERCE-WHITE RESIDENCE HALLS ROOMS • Each room comes with a mattress, lofting options, desk, dresser, and wardrobe. • Control the temperature of your room with a heating and air conditioning unit as well as a window. Plus, laundry services are included in housing and food costs!

• Decorate your home away from home however you would like, just make sure to reference our website for things that are not allowed.


LAGE COMMUNICATIONS CENTER • The headquarters for Digital Media and Music Production features state-of-the-art studios for media and music creation.

THE VICTORY BELL • In the heart of campus, the Victory Bell kickstarts many campus traditions throughout the academic year!

• It’s rung at four specific times throughout the year: freshmen ring it for Welcome Weekend, sophomores ring it for Christmas Dinner, juniors ring it for Buenafication Day, and seniors ring it for Graduation!

• Find studios for our campus television station, BVTV, and local radio station, KBVU, along with podcast recording studios. • Satisfy your taste for music by making your own in our music production studio.

• Will you be selected to ring the Victory Bell?

ACROSS CAMPUS


LAMBERTI RECREATION CENTER • Featuring a six-lane track and three full-sized basketball courts, blow off some steam in this space whenever you need to!

• Be part of intramurals to satisfy your competitive desire, or simply have fun. Intramural basketball, volleyball, and much more will take place here. • Our Rec Center is free and open to all BVU students, faculty, and staff to use.


WEIGHTROOM • No membership required! Pump some iron or get your cardio on during general lifting hours. • Coaches reserve special times for each of their teams to lift.

• Windows around the racks allow you to gaze over the lake at breathtaking scenery.

GYM • BVU is a member of the American Rivers Conference and NCAA Division III Athletics. • Support fellow classmates on the court or mat in an electric atmosphere.

• Athletic teams aren’t the only ones who use the gym. Welcome Weekend festivities, Homecoming Coronation, and Graduation Ceremonies all take place here!

OUTDOOR RECREATION HOUSE

• How many universities have a lake on their campus? Enjoy lake life while in college at our Rec House, which is set up similarly to a lake house.

• A patio has a small dock that overlooks the lake as well as a bonfire pit to enjoy with friends. Anyone say s’mores?

• Check out lawn games, rollerblades, ice skates, canoes, paddle boards, kayaks, and much more all for free! Can you make it to the island and back?


ESTELLE SIEBENS SCIENCE CENTER

SOCIAL SCIENCE AND ARTS HALL • Home to the School of Liberal Arts, classes and professor offices are mainly located on the second floor.

• Enjoy a cozy study environment in the Woods House or let your creative side shine in a computer lab with each station having the Adobe Creative Suite.

• Take in the work of your peers on the first floor with gallery spaces for artwork and workshop room.


• With an 11-1 student-tofaculty ratio, classes are small to allow personal connection with professors, and open-door policies build connections outside of the classroom. Whether talking about classwork, or common interests, professors love dedicating time to students. • Labs ensure concepts from the classroom are applied to realworld situations, giving you an edge as you enter the workforce.

• From computer science, human biology, and rehabilitation health sciences, labs are dedicated to each field for specialized experiences. Some featured labs include, but are not limited to, a cadaver lab and greenhouse!

• The larger of two auditoriums on campus used to host prestigious events. • Enjoy the sights and sounds of music from our choir and band during seasonal celebrations and spring showcases!

• Attend presentations from world figures with our BVU Lecture Series hosted every four years in addition to specialty performances.
