PARTIAL REOPENING OF THE CLIFF WALK The section of the Cliff Walk "Felsenweg" from the Bürgenstock Resort to the viewpoint in front of the valley station Hammetschwand Lift will be reopened from Saturday, September 28, 2019 until the end of the season. The operation of the Hammetschwand Lift remains temporarily suspended.
As of 23 July, 2019, the Hammetschwand Lift has been temporarily closed due to security concerns. During daily routine inspections it was decided that the anchors require further examination to ensure the safety of the lift. The lift itself needs no repair. As a precautionary measure, the entire Cliff Walk has also been temporarily closed. After an initial survey by the expert group, the Cliff Walk can be used up to the viewpoint in front of the valley station Hammetschwand Lift without any security concerns and will therefore be reopened on 28 September, 2019 until the end of the season. From the viewpoint in front of the valley station Hammetschwand Lift, the Cliff Walk continues to be closed as a precautionary measure.
The operation of the Hammetschwand Lift remains temporarily suspended for safety reasons. The reopening of the Hammetschwand Lift will be announced at the given time.
The Hammetschwand as a popular place of excursions and viewpoint remained open throughout and can be reached via different hiking trails. The restaurant Hammetschwand also remained open throughout and continues to welcome guest. Hammetschwand Lift AG The Hammetschwand Lift dating from 1905 is the highest outdoor lift in Europe at 1,132 meters. 60 percent of the Hammetschwand Lift AG is owned by the Bürgenstock Hotels AG and 40 percent is owned by the Schindler Schweiz AG.
